To let myself into upstairs flat?

MrsDrRanj · 20/02/2014 12:26

I live in a house converted into flats. I don't know the lady upstairs that well but well enough to have conversations with if we bump into eachother.

The door to her flat is right opposite my door. For the last 2 days I haven't heard her come in or go out, and her keys have been in her door. WIBU to go up and check nobody's dead in there?! Or is that overstepping boundaries?

If you don't get an answer please go in or call police

whossauhnafuffafwayay · 20/02/2014 15:41

I hope that your neighbour is OK, OP, and if not I hope that you are.

Sunshineonsea · 20/02/2014 15:43

I would make your presence known before entering, I would definitely call 101 or have someone with you though

Hawkmoth · 20/02/2014 17:13

Any update?

MyNameIsKenAdams · 20/02/2014 17:16

Are the keys in the door on the outside or the inside?

jendot · 20/02/2014 17:19

No update op?

Lottiedoubtie · 20/02/2014 17:20

Blimey this is worrying. Any update OP?

jedishelly1 · 20/02/2014 17:20

Hope all is ok.

Logg1e · 20/02/2014 17:29

Why would you not knock on the door if you saw the keys left in? Surely you'd do that anywhere, never mind for a neighbour??

TheReluctantCountess · 20/02/2014 17:57

Still no news?

DoItTooJulia · 20/02/2014 20:22

No news is good news, right?

Come back OP, hope all is well?

MrsBradfield · 20/02/2014 20:27

Hope all is ok. Pls come back to update op

MidniteScribbler · 20/02/2014 20:42

I have a friend who is a police officer. He said he would rather do 100 welfare checks that turn out to be nothing than to deal with a body that has been lying unnoticed for weeks.

SquinkiesRule · 20/02/2014 20:57

Any news yet OP?

TheReluctantCountess · 20/02/2014 21:05

Sad I'm suspecting the worst.

Gruntfuttock · 20/02/2014 21:07

Why? TheReluctantCountess

TheReluctantCountess · 20/02/2014 21:12

I just get the feeling the op is upset and that's why she hasn't been back.

PorkPieandPickle · 20/02/2014 21:15

I encountered the same situation, and sadly my neighbour was dead. I hope the OPs neighbour is ok though.

capsium · 20/02/2014 21:19

Could you ask one of your other neighbours to accompany you for moral support? Then knock and go in.

Pipbin · 20/02/2014 21:53

I've left my keys in the door and had random strangers knock to tell me I'd left them there!

I hope all was OK OP.
I assume you have done whatever you decided by now, but I too would knock very loudly and if there was no response call 101.

Turnipinatutu · 20/02/2014 22:05

Definitely knock and let her know! Why wouldn't you?

waltermittymissus · 20/02/2014 22:16

Any word, OP?

thornrose · 20/02/2014 22:18

Oh dear, OP hasn't returned Sad

BrianTheMole · 20/02/2014 22:18

Maybe she forgot about them if its an upstairs flat in a house. And maybe she doesn't go out every day. Hope so anyway.

ToAvoidConversation · 20/02/2014 22:24

A family member did this but they were on holiday! They had been in a rush to get in the car (were getting a lift to the airport) and totally forgot to lock their front door! Didn't even close it over properly!
