Fucking bastarding Minecraft

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 20/12/2013 20:21

DS1 has just discovered it. So DS2 wants to play. And now fucking DH is playing 'so he can help the kids' - yeah, right. It has been the sole topic of conversation for a week, and now I am chilling out with wine and MN and the bastarding thing is going in the background. Seriously, you're 42. Fuck off.

So DH has the kids while you relax and is spending time with them and they have a shared interest?

What a monster that man is. LTB now.

gordyslovesheep · 20/12/2013 20:22

hush now OP you have wine and he is entertaining the kids - yabu

MikeChristmasTreeIsLit · 20/12/2013 20:23

My older two dc are obsessed with it. Even the 2 year old knows what zombies amd creepers are.

It is banned this weekend as I am sick of watching it and hearing about it.

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2013 20:25

Minecraft is fab. Sorry. Grin

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 20/12/2013 20:25

The kids are in bed. He is playing on his own. In the same room, with the sound on.

Called a game shop to order a Minecraft action figure and mentioned my son's age (8). Guy was surprised and said he didn't think it was a kids game!

Son and all his friends are obsessed. It is almost like a drug.

But I don't mind. It is way better than the Pokemon we went through with older son.

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2013 20:28

He is probably building something fab and the Dc will be all 'WOW' in the morning.

Binkyridesagain · 20/12/2013 20:29

I think you will have to learn how to enjoy MNing and drinking wine, this is now going to be your life.

Damn how are you going to cope Grin

NettleTea · 20/12/2013 20:29

love it.
DS, 7, is obsessed too
I imported a 3ft high creeper from the US for his christmas present.
I believe he has 'built' me something for my present - he has been working on it for weeks, and apparantly its 'nearly finished'
He is building DD a map of the Hunger Games too

NettleTea · 20/12/2013 20:30

just wait until he discovers Stampy - you think you are irritated now! Grin

glendatheveryexcitedwitch · 20/12/2013 20:34

Hahahahahaha nettle!!!

My dd1(7) is obsessed with minecraft and with Stampy!!! It's her birthday on jan 14th so face booked him asking if he would send her a card as she would be over the moon but he's not repliedHmm

BakeOLiteGirl · 20/12/2013 20:45

I have Stampy on right now chuckling through something about wolves and pressure pads.

BrokenFairylights · 20/12/2013 20:48

Sorry op but it gets worse, mine have discovered the top ten Minecraft tunes on YouTube - bloody awful.

QueenofLouisiana · 20/12/2013 20:50

I've just had to admire DS's new creation. He was burbling about creepers too sigh

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 20/12/2013 20:50

You're not making this any fucking better, you know...

He has turned the sound off now so at least I don't have to kill him

It's not GTA so think yourself lucky. That will be next on the must have. Not happened in out house, but been some fights over GTA and it's still not in our house.

Minecraft is harmless.

YouTheCat · 21/12/2013 00:44

I have bought dd the annual too. She will be 19 in a week. Grin

Why don't you play too?

joanofarchitrave · 21/12/2013 00:46

Bought the Minecraft annual in the bookshop today. The assistant was lovely and said 'oh it's the surprise best seller this Christmas' and I was rude and twatty and said 'SURPRISE? YOU obviously don't hang with 9 year olds' with a boot face, she looked crushed. Sorry, lovely assistant, I hope you aren't ttc Sad but I have stampy in one ear for much too much of the day.

If DH would play it with ds I would be so happy.

JollySantersSelectionBox · 21/12/2013 00:48

I don't need the sound I have a running verbal commentary from DS usually in a sing song style:

Gonna put a cobweb there, oh yeah, gonna put a cobweb there.

Etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

StarlightMcKingsThree · 21/12/2013 00:49

Thank you SO much for this thread, and for mentioning stampy in particular.

SilverApples · 21/12/2013 00:50

Headphones. Proper ones.
That's what DS uses, so I don't have to listen to a range of weird noises and music.

glastocat · 21/12/2013 00:50

HahahHa this is your life now. My 12 year old is utterly obsessed too, and can wittier on for hours, so I feel your pain.

StarlightMcKingsThree · 21/12/2013 00:50

Yes, Ds 'does a stampy' as he plays. Wtf?

MiniMonty · 21/12/2013 00:54

I deleted it from every device in the house after I endured an entire Sunday lunch with three DCs talking about nothing else.

I get the "instant lego" idea, I get the creativity thing but honestly I'd rather see them either play with real lego or do something (anything) in the real world.

Because of Minecraft we have banned the kids from ALL screens Monday to Friday (except for real homework needs) and it's made a huge difference. It took a week of moaning and whining but now they play together, the eldest teaches the youngest things like cat's cradle and card tricks, they put on (truly awful) plays and recitals, they READ BOOKS (yippee) and they talk to us !

I don't believe in the Edwardian childhood - but I do think we may have all sleepwalked into a bit too much techno freedom for our kids.
