Fucking bastarding Minecraft

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 20/12/2013 20:21

DS1 has just discovered it. So DS2 wants to play. And now fucking DH is playing 'so he can help the kids' - yeah, right. It has been the sole topic of conversation for a week, and now I am chilling out with wine and MN and the bastarding thing is going in the background. Seriously, you're 42. Fuck off.

OP posts:

The game itself I can tolerate. It's Stampy fucking long nose et al on fucking YouTube that makes me stabby.

Idocrazythings · 21/12/2013 00:55

My DH is obsessed with DayZ. Drives me nuts

Lesshastemorespeed · 21/12/2013 01:02

It's the other way round in our house.
Dh glares at me while I make amazing worlds full of water slides and try to entice baby animals to slide down them. They will not. Dh is not at all wowed by my water slides or sympathetic about the stubborn piglets.
Oh no, he just wants the ipad back so he can use it for something worthwhile, like his fantasy football.
I can even make fire slides. My dc's are well impressed. Xmas Grin

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 21/12/2013 01:02

My 8 year old loves stampy and has watched some others the last few days cos stampy doesn't do some things apparently. We have to take his iPod off him after so long or he would watch it all the time.

NoBloodyMore · 21/12/2013 01:18

Stampy needs shooting, I am so fucking sick of hearing his voice, DS is obsessed

MacaYoniandCheese · 21/12/2013 01:23

My children are all obsessed. I'm torn; it's nice for them to have a shared interest but it can definitely take over if you let it. This week they have discovered how to add roller coasters. As a result I have had a lot of peace and quiet, so not all bad Grin.

StarlightMcKingsThree · 21/12/2013 01:27

What minecraft version is the main one and wtf are power rails that my Ds is desperate for?

stubbs0412 · 21/12/2013 06:39

Sorry 2 say you can't go back from minecrap I mean minecraft. Everyone in my house plays, it's on xbox, iPad & laptop! I do have 4 children, they also watch utube clips for cheats, ideas, and other crappy things minecrap related.
Glug your wine and enjoy. :/)

FourLittleDudes · 21/12/2013 06:48

I have an 11 year old and a 9 year old both obsessed with minecraft and Stampy. It's on YouTube all the time. I've bought them mine craft for Christmas, they've only been able to play the demo until now.

Rhubarbgarden · 21/12/2013 07:46

Yanbu. I loathe this stuff with a passion. Dh recently mentioned that he can't wait till the kids are older so he can introduce them to it. I went ballistic and basically said over my dead body. He was shocked, claimed computer games were a huge part of his growing up and we had a row. We never have rows. Sad

DollyTwat · 21/12/2013 08:28

It's a brilliant game! My two build the most impressive stuff.
Downloading maps and skins has been a bit irritating but even ds2 could do that in his own at age 7. The crafting stuff is really clever

The thing that IS annoying is when all their friends come for a play, bring their pc's and play together on a quest. They destroy each others stuff, steal stuff, kill each other etc

They play with each other online too, and TALK over Skype. Now that IS annoying without headphones!

DollyTwat · 21/12/2013 08:30

Oh and they do very long and boring YouTube tutorials and upload them. Funny to hear them doing them though!

CrabbyChristmasBottom · 21/12/2013 09:44

Glad it's not just me... DD (11) is obsessed with MC and has been for at least a year now. She loves designing skins, too. She plays it a lot with her friends over the phone, and with her dad (xDP) over the phone too. I think it's nice that she has that shared time and activity with him.

kelper · 21/12/2013 09:49

Am I the only person who doesn't know anything about this?! I just assumed it was akin to Warcraft and wasn't interested. But it does sound like I might like it.... Where do I start?

JadziaSnax · 21/12/2013 09:51

DS is obsessed too. I've just started playing in a shared world we have so he's built a house for me but he accidentally set it on fire

Guiltypleasures001 · 21/12/2013 09:53

Oh no I'm a secret society player on the I pad and my dh builds cities on his oh it's all go in this house in the evening

Binkyridesagain · 21/12/2013 09:53

My DS makes money from minecraft, not quite sure how but I know it involves a USB stick thingy and some codes.

He also plays with lego.

PacificDingbat · 21/12/2013 09:56

YANBU. 'tis a legal drug for underage kids

I don't get it. At all.
They love it, they build amazing stuff, DS1 seems to be writing code, but even the 3.8 year old DS4 watching YouTube clips by Stampy or Sky.
If I didn't feel so outnumbered and needed the peace at times to Get Stuff Done I'd ban it too. DH does not see the harm....

MrsMeow · 21/12/2013 09:57

My 9 year old DS is obsessed too. I have to go and coo over his buildings every 5 minutes or so, and try and look interested.

I do quite like the background music though, I must admit!

Orangeanddemons · 21/12/2013 10:02

Stampy LongnoseAngry

I can currently hear the gentle sounds of sheep bleating in the background, as Dd is on a Mooshroom quest....

cjdamoo · 21/12/2013 10:02

The noise of it is seriously depressing

CinammonGirl · 21/12/2013 11:11

Kelper, glad I'm not alone! Can anyone explain briefly about mine craft and where you would start? And who is stampy please? :)

ClaimedByMe · 21/12/2013 11:13

My brother has got my ds 8yo this for Xmas, will it ruin us as a family???

Hadmeathello · 21/12/2013 11:24

My DS 8 is also obsessed with minecraft and stampy. Have bought him a stampy t shirt for christmas. Him and DH play it together.

LauraShigihara · 21/12/2013 11:26

Minecraft is fab. DS(10) and I both play it but in completely different ways - he builds amazing games parks and PvP arenas, while I build houses and furnish them. And blow stuff up.

I have built all the houses I have ever lived in. I get ridiculous excited walking through them all, admiring all the rooms. It's like Escape to the Country in block-form.

As a previous poster said, it's sooo much better than pokemon which made me want to stab myself in the head when DS started yet another monologue on it.
