To just invite a bunch of random MNers to my wedding to boost up numbers?

I'm only half joking :o
DP and I are (hopefully) getting married next autumn, and we'd love (me especially, DP isn't as bothered as me) a big wedding with loads of friends and family. But neither of us have many friends, probably about 10 between us! It probably sounds daft but I want to be surrounded by loads of family and friends and have a big party in the evening. But we just don't have the friends!

Okay I'm not really expecting a bunch of MNers to rock up for a wedding party, I was just having a bit of a self-pitying grumble.

I know getting married isn't just an excuse for a party but I want a big party with loads of people :(

AIBU?

Yes I could do that, the wedding of Mr and Mrs Cunny Funt will be a highlight of 2014.

Are the little wellies invited? Or is it child free?

please be child free
please be child free

No, you need to change the date, it doesn't suit me.

You have selfishly decided on a date which is in the half-term holiday and I have already booked to go away then.

Stop being a Bridezilla and consider other people's plans.

TheGonnagle · 04/12/2013 13:49

Ooh yes, TheGonnagle would be up for a wedding next year. I haven't been to one for a while

soaccidentprone · 04/12/2013 14:05

Sounds good to me. I'll definitely come, and bring dh. Ds2 will be 12 then, so will probably be behaving like a typical teenager (he's already started practicing. He's very good at taking thing literally and slamming doors), so we won't be bringing him.

We don't mind if we are invited to the whole event or just the evening do, depending on mn numbersGrin

I promise not to wear white, or anything remotely bridal (as does dh), and we love buffets, and are more then happy to dance and bring a pressie.

Ginocchio · 04/12/2013 17:03

Yep, I'll be there!

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 05/12/2013 21:58

It'll be child friendly I'm afraid Welly, too many littlies in my family to leave them out! Plus we can't leave our own DD out!

Sorry Anne but that's the date I want!

You haven't forgotten your role have you Ginocchio?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 05/12/2013 22:12

Why does it all have to be about you? YABU.

Grennie · 05/12/2013 22:24

Can I come? I will turn up in a white lacy dress, laugh nervously when the vicar says is there any reason you shouldn't be married, bring a long a couple of girls to be bridesmaids without your prior agreement and get huffy when you won't let them walk down the aisle behind you, complain about all the food you are serving, get very drunk and throw up in the loos, and flirt outrageously with your father.

Then the next day I will post all over MN saying what a terrible bridezilla you are, and how you have no class at all.

Can I come Grin

carlywurly · 05/12/2013 22:29

Can I have a place on the bus from cornwall please? Wink

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 05/12/2013 22:30

Erm, no. 'Fraid not Grennie. As lovely as you sound... guestzilla

Grennie · 05/12/2013 23:08

[hummpphh]

I am just off to post multiple threads about bridezillas

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 05/12/2013 23:17

By the way, my father is very likely to flirt outrageously back Wink

Grennie · 05/12/2013 23:19

Is he still with your mother? Wealthy by any chance? ;)

Bettercallsaul1 · 05/12/2013 23:23

Well, this all sounds very jolly! Excellent idea to include us all, OP.

I've decided to try all three of the wedding cake tiers, by the way.

Bettercallsaul1 · 05/12/2013 23:23

I think it would be rude not to.

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 05/12/2013 23:43

No they split up about 12/13 years ago. He's not wealthy, he's as poor as church mice. He does live on a narrowboat though, along with my step mum and little sister. So I'm afraid he is taken but that still wouldn't stop him from flirting.

Ginocchio · 06/12/2013 09:22

No, not forgotten! What's my motivation for this role? Can I make up an interesting backstory involving a diamond heist and the Bishop of Durham?

Grennie · 06/12/2013 09:25

Well I will turn up anyway. I am sure your DSD will let me in if I flash enough cleavage.

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 06/12/2013 09:32

:o You'll be lucky Grennie, I don't have a stepdad :o

That sounds exciting Ginocchio, the more interesting the better I say!

Grennie · 06/12/2013 09:35

Sorry, your father Blush

I am looking forward to this!

in reality I would be the perfect guest

Ginocchio · 06/12/2013 09:39

Grennie I'll distract them with a flamboyant arrival (possibly involving a cape), while you sneak in through a side door...

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 06/12/2013 10:11

You probably shouldn't be discussing this in front of me lalalalaaa

frumpet · 06/12/2013 11:34

Well i have checked my hectic social calender for next year and as luck would have it your wedding date is free ,as are absolutely all other dates in the year Grin

frumpet · 06/12/2013 11:35

So when do you start making random demands of us random MN guests ?
