To just invite a bunch of random MNers to my wedding to boost up numbers?

I'm only half joking :o
DP and I are (hopefully) getting married next autumn, and we'd love (me especially, DP isn't as bothered as me) a big wedding with loads of friends and family. But neither of us have many friends, probably about 10 between us! It probably sounds daft but I want to be surrounded by loads of family and friends and have a big party in the evening. But we just don't have the friends!

Okay I'm not really expecting a bunch of MNers to rock up for a wedding party, I was just having a bit of a self-pitying grumble.

I know getting married isn't just an excuse for a party but I want a big party with loads of people :(

AIBU?

Can I come? I love dancing but I'm too old to do it anywhere except weddings and I'm too old for anyone I know to be getting married.

Love the Hall.

ShinyBauble · 28/11/2013 20:57

Ooh what a good idea! We should organise a Mumsnet hen night first to break the ice!!

Frostybean · 28/11/2013 21:55

I'll come OP! Haven't been to a wedding for years old gimmer.

frumpet · 28/11/2013 22:34

Ooooh can i come , bit late to the proceedings but its not so far from me and i love a wedding , will abide by all bridezilla instructions and promise not to get too drunk and will bring a gift ( do you care if your gift actually breathes ? )

Hopasholic · 28/11/2013 22:53

Karaoke you say? Count me in! I do a mean Adele, someone like yoooo!
I'll buy you a vase or a toaster for an invite. How can you resist?

Reckon I could get there in an hour and a half but would need a room to fall into sleep in. Are there rooms?

I read this thread on my way home from london to back up north on sunday but couldn't get a signal to say 'I'll come!'

VivaLeBeaver · 28/11/2013 22:56

I only live five miles away from wedding venue!

Wonder if I know you in real life?

VivaLeBeaver · 28/11/2013 22:57

I'd be happy to come by the way! Grin

Just wondering if I knew you as I went to school in same town and its a small town!

WireCat · 28/11/2013 23:02

Me me me! I'd love to come! Grin

That's a beautiful place for a wedding.

I've never been a bridesmaid. {hint} Wink

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 28/11/2013 23:04

Probably not Viva, I'm 22 :o I knew you lived in Lincs but I didn't realise you were so close to me!

VivaLeBeaver · 28/11/2013 23:06

Mmmm, yes I am slightly older than you! . Grin

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 28/11/2013 23:09

What school did you go to?

VivaLeBeaver · 28/11/2013 23:09

QE.

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 28/11/2013 23:14

My sister and grandma went there, I went to CH, same as my mum and dad. I live right near QE!

VivaLeBeaver · 28/11/2013 23:20

Must admit I don't go into town much. Maybe once a year! Grin

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 28/11/2013 23:24

You're not missing much, believe me!

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 28/11/2013 23:28

Right folks, I'd better be off, I have to be up at 7.30 to receive my sisters DC I want to stay in bed tomorrow!

Goodnight everyone, you are all wonderful and lovely :) xx

gleegeek · 28/11/2013 23:42

My Dad lives really close to there! I could come and we'd have babysitting organised so wouldn't need to bring the dc. I love discos but karaokes don't like me Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 28/11/2013 23:54

Well, OP, is 168 (at last count) extra guests going to be enough to swell your numbers?

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 29/11/2013 00:13

I'll avoid the karaoke if you don't mind OP. Well until you want everybody to leave that is and then I'll sing a song and empty the hall for you Grin

I'll have the chocolate cake btw.

SoleSorceress · 29/11/2013 01:02

I would love to come too :)

AnAdventureInCakeAndWine · 29/11/2013 11:59

Can we all stay with your dad, gleegeek? He could cope with [does quick mental calculation... say 100 MNers at an average of 1.5 DC apiece] babysitting 150 children at once, I assume. I hear that after the first twenty you don't really notice the extras.

gleegeek · 29/11/2013 12:07

Yes I'm sure you could AnAdventureInCakeAndWine He'd sleep through the dc wailing I'm sure - whether they'd sleep through his snoring I'm not sureHmm

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 01/12/2013 14:55

I have no internet left on my phone until the 4th so I won't be back until then :(

DameFanny · 01/12/2013 15:35

Ooh, I could come... I even still have a long grey wool 2 piece which is ace for Lincolnshire autumns...

WhenSantaGotStuckUpACunnyFunt · 04/12/2013 12:23

Okay so how's everyone fixed for 25th October 2014?
