To just invite a bunch of random MNers to my wedding to boost up numbers?

I'm only half joking :o
DP and I are (hopefully) getting married next autumn, and we'd love (me especially, DP isn't as bothered as me) a big wedding with loads of friends and family. But neither of us have many friends, probably about 10 between us! It probably sounds daft but I want to be surrounded by loads of family and friends and have a big party in the evening. But we just don't have the friends!

Okay I'm not really expecting a bunch of MNers to rock up for a wedding party, I was just having a bit of a self-pitying grumble.

I know getting married isn't just an excuse for a party but I want a big party with loads of people :(

AIBU?

That's my home town! I've moved to the West Mids now though. I didn't realise you can get married at the Old Hall.

MonsterMunchMe · 24/11/2013 16:14

I love cheese and pinapple on sticks. I haven't been to a wedding in 3 years, I love putting a pretty dress on.

And I am a party starter Wink

Jäger bombs are on me Grin

LastOneDancing · 24/11/2013 16:28

Happy it's only a recent thing, they've oy had a weddin licence a couple of years. I've lived here all my life and always loved The Old Hall so when I discovered they started doing weddings I was ecstatic!

Probably not Happy, only one person I know/knew has ever moved away and that was to Australia.

[zombie] what a fabulous place to get married!

I can be a civilised long lost friend, we can joke about our student days when we matched odd socks together in the laundrette.
I come the dashing mr oddsocks too, we both have nice wedding outfits (I have a good hat too) and a lovely small oddsocks who loves a good party frock. We are experienced wedding guests and are good at handling drunken guests for you

MissGuineapigsPlaysConkers · 24/11/2013 18:23

I have an under-used small fascinator Grin

raisah · 24/11/2013 19:01

I have a beautiful peacock green sari that needs an airing with it being silk & all that I cant have it moulding in the back of the cupboard. Just let me know the date...Smile

BaronessBomburst · 25/11/2013 01:05

What's your nearest Ryanair airport?

olidusUrsus · 25/11/2013 01:30

I don't drink but I do own a fascinator.

Can I be a bridesmaid? I've never been one Sad

daisychain01 · 27/11/2013 06:54

Aww OP
I was only MN joking about the veggie bit honest :-). Blush

You sound lovely and I bet you will be a luscious bride, not a white dress in sight!

Keep us posted!

Gossipyfishwife · 27/11/2013 09:01

You definitely need me as a guest. I'll start the fight. You are not legally married until the first black eye.
(Looks dead hard at other guests and tries to pick easiest prey)

IfIDontKnowAndYouDontKnow · 27/11/2013 09:05

OP if you invite me, I will not wear white. I will be the oddball guest in a bridesmaid dress. I will follow you everywhere and jump into all your photos.

Well tbh as it's an autumn wedding, most things shall be in autumn colours, I'm hoping to get a very pale gold dress myself. Bridesmaids will be in a coppery colourand the men and pageboys will have accessories matching the bridesmaids. Although I'm a bit worried as DP has not-quite-blond/not-quite-ginger hair so I'd hate for the copper to clash with his hair!
