To really want a cold, cold winter?

Just that really. I have enjoyed the summer, don't get me wrong, but I long for a proper winter. Christmas card scenes with snow and frozen ponds.

YABU. I hate cold cold winters as that invariably means multiple hospital trips for DS. A nice mild winter will do nicely thank you!

My heating bill says yabu.

YABU. Just keep your little wishes to yourself. Last year was horrible and it lasted until May. Was that not long enough and cold enough for you?

I'm hoping for a nice winter (without snow) that doesn't linger on into spring and summer.

Freezing weather --> struggling to get to work with both wrists intact. Ugh! Definitely unreasonable.

It's ok if you don't have to get to work/school/anywhere in deep snow. Elderly folk who can't afford to heat more than one room or suffering from chest infections.

Nice to look at but in reality, it sucks.

High fuel bills
Trudging everywhere in the cold rain
Snotty noses
Defrosting the car
Country grinding to a halt

That's winter.

Im with the op, a couple of weeks of nice snow, couple of snow days but by January 1st it can start spring-ing up again cool frosty autumn too.

I'd like a lovely autumn, followed by a short winter with a few days of snow to keep me DC happy building snowmen, but otherwise mild.
Definitely not long and drawn out like previous years, my joints don't like it and ice makes me worried I'll fall and finally break my hip, also concerned about sky high bills in our new beautiful not so practical Victorian house.

The only time snow and cold days are nice is Christmas Eve, starting about 5pm and Christmas Day and Boxing Day. After that its a huge thaw with high temps so the thaw does not ice up and back to being able to drive without skidding about like a lunatic. I have to drive every day up and down steep hills, walking is out of the question, its a 7 mile drive and no bus route. I hate driving those hills in the ice and snow, there's nothing like it to make you pee your pants, hold your breath to break the world record and want to cry as you realise - you have no breaks! The only upside of having to drive on it is, you are not at home therefore the heating is off.

Last winter involved throwing forty quid into the gas meter every week just to stay warm. You can have a long cold winter when I've won the lottery.

Yes to a snowy Christmas as long as it's all melted and back to normal on Boxing Day. Snow is a PITA.

YABU. My DP works outside and I hate seeing him suffer because of the weather every winter.

Cold, cold - yes. But short short please. Was nearly suicidal last May when still walking the dogs in a bloody ski jacket FFS.

I would like a crisp cool winter. Not a truly freezing cold one like last year. And more importantly, that coolness must be dry. A crisp, cool, but dry winter would be my ideal. But only if it follows a proper autumn, dry, bright and breezy days with reddening leaves and just a hint of frosts to come.

The last few years DS2 and I have had to slide to school, my heating bills have gone through the roof and DD broke her arm last year falling over.

YABU.

I prefer a cold dry winter to a soggy wet one.

But I cannot afford a freezing one! However I'd love a cosy Christmas as you describe

You obviously don't live in a house with no gas supply... oil bill for last winter was not magical at all.

I love the cold and the snow and ice, I don't want endless days of rain.
My DS struggles when the temperature is high, and he's had a long summer. His broken thermostat means he overheats, can't sleep and gets grumpy and irritable. He does try to recognise why, but he loves the cold.

I used to love a good winter but toddler ds has a dicky chest and has been in hospital before with it, winter for me now is checking the boy a few times a day - warm enough, breathing clearly, no rasping, no cold symptoms etc - trying to keep clothes on him, making sure his inhaler is handy/packed etc.

If it was just me I'd say yanbu but with my having an ill baby yabu.

Sliding to the bus stop in the mornings, standing freezing at the bus stop, heating bills sky high.

Although I like a bit of snow,as long as it doesn't hang about for weeks.

No. I don't want that. It makes driving frightening. Slippery roads. School and work closures, at the first drop of snow.
