Just that really. I have enjoyed the summer, don't get me wrong, but I long for a proper winter. Christmas card scenes with snow and frozen ponds.

Im with you. Id love another winter with tonnes of snow. I can go skiing and sledging and throw snowballs. I love walking my dog in the snow too. I flipping hate the rainy winters we get when its milder.

Although i miss my old car when it snows. Quite frankly the best car ever to drive in the snow was my Fiat Seciento. Used to go do doughnuts in the empty car park at work. Cant help but scream wheeeeeeee really loudly when i drove that car.

I used to LOVE winter until last year when we moved to Norfolk and a beautiful but FREEZING Victorian end-of-terrace in the middle of the coldest winter in living memory

our first fuel bill was so high we spent the rest of the winter terrified to put the heating on

Sometimes I was so cold I would just randomly start crying Confused

I'd do the washing up really slowly because it helped me get warm

I remember lying in bed in a dressing gown and socks under several blankets at about 7pm in an attempt to get warm - and realising I couldn't read my book because sticking my hand out of the cover made it ache with cold!

So...yes. Hopefully this winter we can afford to heat the house properly.

hmmm, I'm split on this one.

Yes to snow (loads) and frost and clear starry nights.

No to sky high heating bills, feeling cold all the time.

You can tell autumn is knocking on the door with the threads about!

I'd love a cold cold winter; IMO you are less likely to get ill when the weather is bitingly cold than when it is just cold and damp. All the bugs are more likely to get wiped out by cold crisp air, whereas they just breed and multiply in damp conditions if it is not cold enough to wipe them out. whenever we have a mild winter we all get ill much more in my family.

A cool crisp winter- fine. A cold wet/icy one- no thanks. The hills around here are lethal with the merest hint of ice, but luckily we rarely get ice/snow. We only had three ground frosts last year, it was surreal watching the weather in other parts of the country.

I'm with you, I love winter! I'm already excited at the prospect of a chilly and crisp yet sunny autumn, and can't wait to crack out the coat and boots! Only issue this year is DS is just starting to walk, so if it's icy I think we might have some trouble...

I've loved this summer.

I will be sad when it's over.

I work in aviation, and after 15 years am still constantly amazed by how our country struggles so much in the snow! Any snow at all can cause unbelievable disruption, and we are expected to happily get on with it - some years when it has snowed people at work have missed Christmas, funerals, etc.

I should hate the snow, it's a pain. Nevertheless there is something very compelling about it! I'd like a couple of weeks of proper winter too.

No thank you! Last winter was enough! And it's never like in Finland or Russia, too wet and miserable...

YABU.I love the winters back home (Finland) but I can't afford to heat the house and I will be careering around with a pram and so on, and getting to work will be a nightmare.

Noooo, YABU! My heating bills are huge as it is.

Snow doesn't really affect us as we're in the town centre and can walk to work / shops / school. But cold winters cost money so boring and mild will do me.

No YABU I hate the snow and the cold. Travelling is a nightmare and the heating is costly. I don't mind the bright and frosty days though, find them much better than wind, rain and fog

I used to wish that then after three awful long cold winters and snow in April this year I am really hoping for a short one this time.

Although YANBU about a snowy, cosy Christmas Grin

`YABU - wasn't this six month winter we've just had long enough? Our heating bills were ridiculous, no way can we do that again!

We all live in a bubble Hermione, we all handle things differently with different issues. This is just a fun thread, isn't it? Smile

Well, not being able to afford to heat your house is no fun.

But we all have a romantic veiw of the seasons, the reality is often very different.
