To really want a cold, cold winter?

Just that really. I have enjoyed the summer, don't get me wrong, but I long for a proper winter. Christmas card scenes with snow and frozen ponds.

Aaw, got engrossed reading the Weasley thread, come back and all hell has broken out! Grin

For those of you complaining about heating bills- we have no central heating (shock! Horror!) and no gas. Our electric is on a prepay meter and yes, it does get expensive when the fire is on constantly, but it doesn't take much to warm our small lounge and we have a couple of heaters I move around the bedrooms to take the chill off and lots of hot water bottles/ blankets!

I too have a child with asthma, and a mother who lives with us with severe asthma but to be honest as a pp says, you are less likely to get ill in bitingly cold weather. It doesn't have to be a long winter, just a couple (maybe 4) weeks of freezing cold and snow. Crisp and luscious.

Tell my asthmatic DS he is less likely to get cold in bitingly cold weather. He is nearly 4 and since he was 8 weeks old EVERY time it has snowed he has ended up being admitted to hospital including a stay in HDU.

Last winter was freezing, especially the week my boiler broke and cost me an arm and a leg in repairs.

A bit of snow over Xmas would be nice but no I hate scraping ice off my car early in the morning and the way my asthma kicks off in the cold.

Are you in the very south east or west Sparklymommy?! Last winter was the second coldest since the 1960's If I remember correctly! That's the second coldest in living memory for many of us!

I am an advocate of all the seasons, in their place, at full strength.

Sweltering summers with beautiful evenings, lush and golden autumns, bright, breezy, springs full of flowers and snow, frost and clear freezing blue skies in winter.

So no, YANBU and I want one too!

But I would have liked a long sweltering summer rather than the sorry excuse for one we've had.

Yanbu, cold but dry with a week or two of snow around Christmas please, and all over by the end of Feb would be great Smile

I'm an Autumn bird, love this time of year Grin

Yes to 2 weeks of snow over christmas, preferably to clear up on 2nd Jan so everyone can sod off back to work/school, and DS2's birthday on 5th Jan isn't compromised.

Autumn should run from late sept to early dec, then winter from early dec to mid feb, then a nice early spring.

Last winter was mild?? Shock My monthly bill for gas went from £90 a month to £175 a month because of last winter!

I don't want a winter at all, I hate snow and ice, I live in a very hilly part of England with it's own micro climate and once it freezes here it's like that for bloody ages even when everywhere else has defrosted. After 9 years of snowy winters here I am actually considering buying a 4WD before the end of autumn and I thought that was something I would never hear myself say as I hate them.

No no and no I really cannot afford to heat my home all winter. I dread to think of the prices going up again like they normally do just in time for winter!

I am in the southwest yes.

I like snow! Haha! And we don't get enough of it down here.

That said I don't want people to suffer, just like winter to be wintry and summer to be summery. This summer has been the best for years! Now for a decent, cold , crisp winter please!

A nice sunny September followed by a cool crisp October and November with rain overnight. December can be cold but dry with snow on Xmas eve, Xmas day and boxing day, tailing off towards new years eve. Jan and feb can be cold but march and April must be sunny with rain overnight, may and june must be warm and July and August must be hot.

Fucking hell OP, don't you remember last winter? It started in about May 2012 and didn't end until the beginning of June this year!

Winter can get to twattery.

It was freezing in the South West last winter, we had some of the very coldest weather! Also, the wettest. Which ruined it.

I am old, and I grew up without central heating. As did DH. You wear lots of jumpers. And you carry round a hot water bottle at all times, and you have blankets ad wooly socks and gloves indoors and it's brilliant.

Love a cold winter, me.

Well if you are going to order in a load of snow for about two weeks over Christmas and school holidays when we don't have to move from the house, then I'm with you.

But if it is four months of having to drive in icy conditions, then I'm not. We have loads of accidents along our road when the weather is good, but when it's wet there are loads of car crashes. DSes catch train to school so that would be nightmarish if they get stuck somewhere. I don't mind being cold, but I don't want lives at jeopardy!
