I'm loving Chris Evans and think he has redeemed himself from past awful behaviour BUT I can't help being annoyed that he has already started his son's future career on radio. I bet he's a lovely lad but...sorry, Chris...I think this is a cheek!

Kim147 it's not a twisting of words it's a prediction of what would actually happen if fundraising happened your way. Do you honestly think that any of those who bid and won the auction prizes would be donating £120,000 (or whatever the actual amount was) to CIN via a text in? Or would they be donating the £120,000 to a different charity that was savvy enough to run an auction with prizes that appeal to people with that much money?

You also seem to be missing the point that they do raise money in lots of different other ways, this auction is just a small part of lots of other fundraising activities.

I love CE's enthusiasm.

I love his collection of cars. I don't even get the impression he sees them as any sort of status symbol. He just likes them and happens to be able to afford them.

I love that he does bonkers things like buying interesting old vehicles, or old bridges from race tracks! I love that he does use his influence to persuade other wealthy people to part with substantial amounts their cash for charity.

I do believe that he quite hot on paying his taxes and has had quite a bit to say about people who dodge.

And Noah is cute.

ouryve · 16/08/2013 15:21

He does both, Kim.

ouryve · 16/08/2013 15:26

And there are plenty of ways that those of us who don't have 6 figure sums lying around can give to charity. Let's face it.

TheSkiingGardener · 16/08/2013 15:34

I'm with ouryve

Brilliant show and i love the co-presenters, the festivals, the cars, the kids, everything.

Ilovemyself · 16/08/2013 19:37

I don't hear anyone slagging off Simon mayo for allowing kids on his show to tell us what they are up to this weekend

dementedma · 16/08/2013 19:55

Used to listen to him but have tuned out now because of the constant references to his wife, kids, car fest and me,'me, me.
More music and less ego would be good.

superlambanana · 17/08/2013 01:11

I used to find him really irritating on TFI / big breakfast etc but now I really like him. I love candy man and I think he's great with the kids who phone in. Always puts me in a good mood in the morning.

Now Steve Wright I would happily fire immediately if I had the power..!

Retropear · 17/08/2013 08:15

Anti but I'm 45 and listen to Radio 2 more and more.

As I said Graham Norton my fave but also like Simon Mayo and Chris Evans.

LottieJenkins · 17/08/2013 08:36

Johnnie Walker is my fave.........I got to speak to him for half an hour many moons ago. I too am in the "get SW out" brigade! The whole show drives me insane. The Non stop oldies are NEVER non stop as he gabbles through them. Also Barry from Watford and Elvis are SO annoying!!!! Angry

changeforthebetter · 17/08/2013 08:44

I am irked that Chris Evans is on the radio. Radio 2, you lost a listener. Pompous little fuckwit Angry

I loved it when Graham Norton stood in for the little turd though Smile

TobyLerone · 17/08/2013 08:53

I've met Chris Evans. He's nice.

I don't listen to him on the radio, though.

I am bereft. My digital radio is broken at the moment, so my best option is fucking Radio 2. The only presenter that doesn't make me want to bang my head on the table until it bleeds is Simon Mayo. And the constant American MOR power ballads (thud).

Yesterday morning Chris Evans referred to the international womens' golf open as a tournament for "girls" (thud).

Radcliffe and Maconie I miss you so so so so so much. Must get digital radio fixed TODAY.

Lorelilee · 17/08/2013 11:01

I honestly believe that Chris Evans LOVES women and is in complete awe of them. Having read his book, I know that he has MASSIVE respect for his Mother and what I've said previously follows on from that.

aquashiv · 17/08/2013 11:03

Good for him for wanting to include his son budgie or anything he is proud of on the show.

ExcuseTypos · 17/08/2013 11:08

Lore from what I've heard, he is very generous with money but he certainly didn't treat the women in his life with respect.

Lorelilee · 17/08/2013 11:21

Excuse I agree that was the case in the early days, but he has grown up A LOT.

ExcuseTypos · 17/08/2013 11:59

Not sure about that, Lore, time will tell.

Mynewmoniker · 21/08/2013 10:50

I'm fed up with the 'Kids, what are you doing for the first time?' bit. I think it's run its course.

Of course if my kids were on it I would disagree with me. Smile

I suppose he'll drop the feature when they stop phoning! I agree though, I don't really enjoy it.

Mynewmoniker · 21/08/2013 11:28

I think he's been floundering with this during the school hols.
