I'm loving Chris Evans and think he has redeemed himself from past awful behaviour BUT I can't help being annoyed that he has already started his son's future career on radio. I bet he's a lovely lad but...sorry, Chris...I think this is a cheek!

I just don't get why he doesn't get that gap in his teeth fixed, with all his money! I am indifferent to him.

SirChenjin · 14/08/2013 13:33

Why should he get the gap in his teeth fixed? Hmm

HappyJoyful · 14/08/2013 13:57

For the majority of time I enjoy the show on the drive to work in the morning..

More irritating than the Noah 'comments' - particularly - 'here is the reason we're here' or whatever that one he's saying is the eggs in the morning, hearing that is irksome and somehow week after week repetitive.

There are moments of genius like the songs for housework on this morning that I find totally makes up for the crap.

Kaluki · 14/08/2013 14:04

The only things about the show I don't like is 1. Moira Stewart and 2. That annoyin spiel Vassos has to say to announce the Mystery Guest, it sounds so fake and contrived and sets my teeth on edge.
I love the eggs in the morning song and the Candyman on Fridays - DS2 and I often have a dance round the kitchen to those - happy times!!

Chris Evans for me a kind of vacuous, mildly abusive and misogynistic stereotype that has become increasingly dated since he first appeared, but obviously he now has so many contacts in the media he still gets jobs. I put Russell Brand in the same category, not least because he has the same awful voice.

I agree with this, he is an annoying smug git who sets my teeth on edge.

I much prefer Ken Bruce, his dry, self-deprecating Scottish wit is much more to my taste than Evans' southern self-congratulatory style. He also doesn't seem to feel the need to belittle and patronise everyone else. His banter with Lynn Bowles is great.

complexnumber · 14/08/2013 16:17

As a rule, I don't consider myself too easily pleased. However I do like all the day time R2 DJ's, they are all different, they all entertain (me).

You can please some of the people all of the time, or all of the people some of the time...

Retropear · 14/08/2013 16:23

Ken Bruce sends me to sleep.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 14/08/2013 16:24

What has his looks got to do with anything? Hmm
I like Chris Evans. His show when it was at teatime was brilliant. I wasn't happy when he took over breakfast and just took the drive time format with him. Some originality would have been nice! But generally, I really like him.

oscarwilde · 14/08/2013 16:27

Maybe he had a childcare emergency and his wife's job is important to her ....... [referencing another thread at the moment] ?
Maybe it was bring your kid to work day at the BBC.?
Who cares?

valiumredhead · 14/08/2013 16:52

Face for radio? Get his teeth fixed? Good grief !

I so would,I think he's gorgeous,I love a sandy haired bloke

antimatter · 14/08/2013 16:56

When Chris Evans was still doign the drive time I remember at lease every time I listened to him he was asking - is there job for me in TV... it was pathetic
Hmm

yes - he got it! he has (or had?) a slot afternoon on bbc1 in London slot on Fridays

EasterHoliday · 14/08/2013 17:04

can i ask where you ladies go to for your morning music based radio? R4 all very well but I want music. Can't stand Sean Keavney or Christian O'Connell (don't hold with advertising either). Am the wrong demographic for R1 therefore musically incompatible. So what's the solution? Heart / Magic are only suitable for 2am minicab rides when they play Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong, so those two are also OUT.

fancyanother · 14/08/2013 17:08

I can't bear Ken Bruce. I find him much more 'Smashy and Nicey' than Chris Evans! I have to switch to Radio 4 until Jeremy Vine comes on!

I think some people are being unneccessarily harsh here. He is on prime time radio because people like him, and he has increased the listenership on R2 by quite a lot. There are hundreds of radio stations to listen to in the morning!

I do like him, but I do find the extensive coverage of some things, like Carfest and sometimes the CIN auctions a bit much sometimes. I switch to something else. And they do have a raffle for the dine and disco for a few tables of 8, as far as I can remember. Or is that wrong too, because then the poor people would have to sit with rich people??

mignonette · 14/08/2013 17:09

Radio 6 Music is my radio station and is superb apart from Lauren Laverne

I sometimes listen to NPR on t'Internet radio for broadcasts about US oddities and curiosities. I like some of the Louisianan Zydeco stations and the NoLa ones I get occasionally but they are niche. Some amazing stations based in Appalachia for those of you with a yen for blues and bluegrass but access can be patchy.

fancyanother · 14/08/2013 17:09

Easter What about Absolute? They have different channels for different types of music. We quite like Absolute '80's in our house!

I agree about Ken Bruce. It's like he's in a 1970's joke time warp! And hasn't he got several children by several women too?

SwedishEdith · 14/08/2013 17:28

I do either 6 Music or 5 Live in the morning. I am indecided about Sean Keaveney - he's not as funny as he thinks he is but he plays decent music. I like Nicky Campbell on the radio.

Oblomov · 14/08/2013 17:34

Work has Radio 2 on.
I can't stand listening to him drivel on about Tash and Noah. It is so fxxk boring.
He is an idiot for thinking his son is anymore exciting than any other child that age.

valiumredhead · 14/08/2013 18:44

I don't think he does.

Chewbecca · 14/08/2013 19:00

YANBU
I liked CE, then hated him, now like him again but the Noah bits are the worst part of the show IMO, maybe I'm a miserable so and so but I think you should keep this stuff to yourself and your family, I don't think you should expect other people to find your child cute.

InWithTheITCrowd · 14/08/2013 19:37

I listen to local radio

InWithTheITCrowd · 14/08/2013 19:38

*commercial - not bbc

Ilovemyself · 14/08/2013 20:22

So many jealous people. If people work hard and become rich why not let them spend a huge amount on these things.

I would love to do some of the things they auction but will never be able to afford it. Am I jealous. Of course. Do I begrudge them or think it should be stopped. He'll no!
