To think there was no need for a hairdresser and such to be ordered for Kate when she left the hospital yesterday.

First off: I know they are royals and are in the public eye a lot. But was there really a need for her to be sent a hairdresser so she'd look her absolute best when she left the hospital? I mean how many pregnant woman look pretty much perfect when they leave and actually care when they've just given birth 24 hours ago.

I think she's naturally pretty anyway so would have looked fine make up free with her hair tied up. I'm wondering if she requested it or if it was ordered she was to look her shining best to leave?

Left over, I have not read all the thread, but I get one thing. If the media shows us that women look as polished as her one day post partum, and never shows normal people looking like I did, frankly HAGGARD and about 10 years older post partum, how much pressure does that put on ordinary women to make an effort to look amazing after birth, instead of putting the effort into establishing feeding, learning how baby likes to be winded, enjoying baby's lovely smell, etc etc. it's about priorities. I would rather know that parent shave fed, changed and bathed baby, than know that Kate has a hairstyle that keeps getting in her face.

Fraxinus · 24/07/2013 22:15

Have fed, not shave fed.

exoticfruits · 24/07/2013 22:17

I understand what you mean - I agree she is fine as she is- but since the world press will criticise it is a pointless question. She is bound to get a hairdresser when she is the centre of attention.

exoticfruits · 24/07/2013 22:18

It is probably why she has gone to her parents- she can be free to not bother.

If it had been me I would have booked a look a like agency, used a tiny tears doll and escaped to solitude with my DH to enjoy a babymoon away from international scrutiny!

Dillydollydaydream · 24/07/2013 22:28

RoseFlowerFairy

It's just a normal head/shoulders shot nothing dodgy I promise!
It just shows Kate with quite curly, untamed hair.

fromparistoberlin · 24/07/2013 22:34

Oh FFS

did you have to face the GLOBAL MEDIA after giving birth?

no, I though not

TerrysNo2 · 24/07/2013 22:38

YABU

I thought she looked lovely, very natural but with her post baby bump still on show.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 24/07/2013 22:41

Gawd, I'd have loved a do of my hair and make up before leaving hospital. I think she looked lovely.

I had a really sensible, non woo or frilly silly pregnancy and birth guide book thingy and that recommended getting a good hair cut just before giving birth and buying new pjs as you'd be about to have loads of photos.

I used to work with someone who had a total salon day two days before her due date. She had a full brazilian too, so she'd feel wholly presentable. Grin

Wuxiapian · 24/07/2013 22:42

YABU.

If you were about to face the world's media after giving birth to a prince, wouldn't you?!

She looked beautiful. She always does.

MusicalEndorphins · 24/07/2013 23:06

YABU. Most likely it is her daily grooming anyways, I know it was for me at her age. Why pick a time when the public was to see her son for the first time to appear not at your best?

I was made up with my hair done every day I was in the hospital, except for the first night. Part of my morning routine back then.

clam · 24/07/2013 23:26

Everyone thinks she's very lucky to have things like a personal hairdresser/makeup artist/stylist and so on. And in normal circumstances I'd agree.
But I was in hospital recently for major surgery following a badly broken leg. I didn't wash my hair for a week. If anyone had turned up waving a mascara wand and a hairdryer, I'd have punched them. I felt shit, and wanted to be magically transported home in a kaftan to die in peace. HOW Kate managed to stand on those steps and smile as she did, particularly when she was discharged after the morning sickness, is beyond me.

Backpaw · 25/07/2013 08:35

My friend has hair like hers - all natural. She washes it and leaves it and it looks like that. (Envious, me?)

flanbase · 25/07/2013 08:45

I wouldn't have been able to wear a dress as bf all the time so would have had to hoist it up & also the after birth blood coming out in gushes so light blue not the best colour

HollyBerryBush · 25/07/2013 08:48

I dont see why i#her good grooming habits are anyone elses business. If she'd come out looking like a dog, you'd all be bitching like crazy she had let the side down

TalkativeJim · 25/07/2013 08:58

I see what you mean OP!

No, of course she didn't need it. She's naturally attractive and always wears her hair simply, so to us NORMAL people in the real world... she would have looked normal and appropriate and we wouldn't have batted an eye.

BUT, that's not how media world works. She had to look as like her usual groomed image as possible if she didn't want to generate column inches and articles focusing on the negative.

BMW6 · 25/07/2013 09:23

FFS is there anything else about this event that some cat's bum mouthed biatch will have a pop at.

OP if you were facing that media storm I'm sure as hell that you'd have your hair and make-up done, at the very least.

SirChenjin · 25/07/2013 12:22

Flanbase - I wondered about the blood too. I couldn't help thinking that she was very brave wearing light blue, unless she had some sort of padded thing going on underneath her bespoke frock!

Daydream007 · 25/07/2013 12:31

Of course Kate needed to look perfect. She knew that all the cameras would be pointing in her direction as soon as she stepped out of the hospital! HUGE PRESSURE which us normal women never have to face. We can just slip out of the hospital looking rough without anyone batting an eyelid. Those photographs are part of important history and will be viewed for many years! Not just that, if she looked anything less than perfect she would come under scrutiny and be criticised.

zatyaballerina · 25/07/2013 13:01

Of course she needed to, she's human, everybody looks like shit after the birth, it takes a lot out of you and to look vaguely decent most would need a professional to clean you up. I could imagine few thinks more devastating to a new mothers self esteem than having their image splashed across every newspaper in the world and all over the internet for eternity while looking hideous. Fortunately for her, she looked amazing, thanks in huge part to the help she got.

Not everybody cares for their appearance but it's not for those who don't care to decide that others shouldn't care either.

LoveWine · 25/07/2013 13:54

Ugh OP was there really nothing more interesting to talk about?

BramshawHill · 25/07/2013 14:07

They've been criticised for the way the car seat was done, the way William phrased one sentence, Kate still having a belly, having 4 hours between birth and tv interview - every stupid little thing, people have picked apart.

Would you really prefer Kate to go through having her appearance judged and commented on too?

In her position, I'd have done anything to keep the judgement to a minimum.

SirChenjin · 25/07/2013 14:13

What was said about the car seat and the way William phrased a sentence??

MissStrawberry · 25/07/2013 14:22

Well, the car seat not being correctly used is kind of important Hmm.

The baby wasn't strapped in properly and if they had crashed you know the result.
