To think there was no need for a hairdresser and such to be ordered for Kate when she left the hospital yesterday.

First off: I know they are royals and are in the public eye a lot. But was there really a need for her to be sent a hairdresser so she'd look her absolute best when she left the hospital? I mean how many pregnant woman look pretty much perfect when they leave and actually care when they've just given birth 24 hours ago.

I think she's naturally pretty anyway so would have looked fine make up free with her hair tied up. I'm wondering if she requested it or if it was ordered she was to look her shining best to leave?

I mean how many woman care after they given birth - not pregnant woman. Obviously she's no longer pregnant when she's leaving.

Most women don't have hundreds of camera lenses pointed at them then they leave hospital. Nor the world's media waiting for them.

Those photos will still be used many many years from now. Just as the photos of Diana holding Wiliiam are still shown today.

Wouldn't you want to make sure you looked your best? I know I would.

If I'd just given birth, and then had to face a horde of feral photographers and video cameras and have my image beamed across the world on continuous loop, I'd damn sure be expecting a hairdresser and makeup person to help me out!

In fairness, the world's cameras were filming her. Anybody would want to make sure their hair and make up were okay. She's only human.

I was more surprised that she wore a dress so similar to Princess Diana's when she was leaving hospital with William. She did the same at the engagement announcement - exact same colour as Diana's royal blue engagement suit.

Yabu.

Ok fair enough the cameras are all on her but personally I think she's naturally pretty anyway with or without make up.

Leaving hospital: Kate wore a blue dress. Diana wore a green dress.

She is hardly in the same situation as most mothers leaving hospital is she?! Who wouldn't want a bit of help when facing the world's media after just giving birth?

I think if I knew I was going to have my photo taken that was going to be on the front page of EVERY newspaper and the footage be shown for years to come (the photo of Diana leaving with baby William are still being shown 30 years later) and had a hairdresser at my disposal, I am sure I would have done exactly the same!

YABU - those pictures are being beamed around the world. Of course she wanted to look her best. I look natural, clean and happy in the photos after my DC's births. But I'm not in the media spotlight. I get the impression Kate enjoys the fashion and beauty side of her role so she probably was happy to do it. If she's not felt up to it they'd have delayed her departure.

But how many women have to face hundreds of photographers, 24 hour rolling news cameras and thousands of people the minute they leave hospital? Pictures beamed around the world and printed again and again for the 50 years?

And I cared enough to sort out my hair, put on a bit of make up and wear something half decent to leave hospital. What's wrong with that?

In fairness yesterdays media worldwide was all about 'Baby Royals first pic' on the steps of the hospital. I am sure she would much prefer to escape out the back entrance with her little family but since she had to pose for this photo the least she should be entitled to is a hairdresser. That pic is everywhere this morning.

I had my hair done a few days before my due date. Didn't want grey roots showing for all eternity in any photos. And I put makeup on before any visitors arrived after I gave birth. But then, I won't go to the corner store without makeup either. And I'm not famous, I just feel naked without makeup on.

Why on earth not, if it made her feel good?

I had a similar length labour to her first time, and was bent out of shape by it (forceps and a bit horrid at the end).

The next morning once I'd had a shower, one of the midwives put my hair in a french plait for me, and I put make-up on. I felt 100% better for it. When my husband arrived at visiting time he was amazed to see me looking so ready to face the world, after the state he'd had to leave me in the night before.

If you look good, you feel good.

Happy to get dressed up I mean, perhaps less happy about having to face so many cameras one day post partum with her tiny baby.

I didn't give a shit post-birth. I might have if my face was going to appear across the world within seconds, though. What a nightmarish thought.

angelos I know the styles were different but she wore the exact same shade of royal blue for her engagement as Diana and they both wore pastel coloured polka dot dresses leaving the hospital.
Probably just coincidence but it just struck me yesterday.

I'd have had as much help as possible if I had to face the media from all over the world. I'd most definitely have cared.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it just that I didn't really see the exact need. As I said - I know she's in the public eye but the poor woman's just given birth and has to have all this done when she's probably sore, tired and exhausted. As I said she's pretty enough without all the pampering.

If she really wanted it fair enough.

If I was loaded and could get my hairdresser to come to me, yes I would!

YABU. She still the same person she was before she gave birth. Having "swooshy" hair was and still is her thing.

She has hair that is wild and hard work by the looks of it when not styled by a hairdresser. Did you see the pictures of how many press there were out there, I would have had a hairdresser in those circumstances too.
