To think there was no need for a hairdresser and such to be ordered for Kate when she left the hospital yesterday.

First off: I know they are royals and are in the public eye a lot. But was there really a need for her to be sent a hairdresser so she'd look her absolute best when she left the hospital? I mean how many pregnant woman look pretty much perfect when they leave and actually care when they've just given birth 24 hours ago.

I think she's naturally pretty anyway so would have looked fine make up free with her hair tied up. I'm wondering if she requested it or if it was ordered she was to look her shining best to leave?

Now instead of bounty, they had something useful like a hairdresser coming to see you then that would be marvellous

I predict shorter hair for her when she has baby sick in it or she's sick of it being pulled. Constantly.

halcyondays · 24/07/2013 14:14

i looked terrible after giving birth. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be photographed like that for the world to see.

Backpaw · 24/07/2013 14:16

I wish I'd thought of that when I left the hospital! I looked like a fat greasy lump.

Anyone would want a hairdresser in that situation. She's hardly going to say, no thanks, there's some Silvikrin in my bag.

I wish dh had passed me a brush before my first photos. I looked like someone had ironed my hair onto my face.

Damnautocorrect · 24/07/2013 14:31

Yabu did you see the sky pictures showing the number of press?!

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 24/07/2013 14:34

Have they really Goosey? How exciting! I too hope they get lots of bonding with the new baby prince and lots of TLC from Kate's mum and dad.

PastaBeeandCheese · 24/07/2013 14:35

YABU. I'd have loved a hairdresser after giving birth. In fact I was feeling very tearful the day after having DD and my ILs were due.

I went and had a shower, washed my hair and put a little make up on and I felt loads better. I bet it felt lovely having someone washing her hair for her.

SirChenjin · 24/07/2013 14:38

YABU - there's no way I would have faced the world's media without a hairdresser and a lot of slap. Having said that, I couldn't walk after my first (ventouse) delivery so wouldn't have been able to face the media!

Not sure if it's been said elsewhere, but does leaving hospital so soon after giving birth mean she didn't have an epidural or any form of intervention? Or did I make that up?

footphobic · 24/07/2013 14:41

She definitely didn't look over made up or hair too perfect when she came out - she just looked like she'd had a quick blow dry and she looked quite natural.

She also managed to look relatively relaxed so it probably had the effect she wanted, which was to give her a bit of confidence in front of the cameras.

I think she got it right.

FuntimeFuschia · 24/07/2013 14:45

I wondered if the hairdresser was actually for William. Perhaps the delay in coming outside was because he had a proper hissy fit and refused to go anywhere until someone attended to his highlights Grin

Great idea! I was in hospital for a week and would have loved some pampering

Sleep404 · 24/07/2013 14:51

YABU Its bad enough she has to put up with her most private and personal moment being intruded on by the whole world, without us looking for fault. I mean which one of us would want to face that sort of attention one day after giving birth, to have to share our new born baby with TV cameras and reporters who one minute love us and then the next tear us to pieces.

I think anyone who finds anything to criticise about her in this instance is being highly unreasonable, unless of course she danced down the steps in her underwear, chucked the baby at the cameras and then headed for the pub.

Oh and I thought she looked pretty good for someone who'd just given birth. Perhaps you should have focused on what she'd just done and the happiness of the moment rather than what her hair looked like.

MrsRachelLynde · 24/07/2013 15:06

I wish I'd had a hairdresser come to me after dd was born! I looked and felt awful, it would have been lovely to have my hair done.

Yy to replacing bounty with Toni & Guy!

christ, never happy some people. I wore make up in labour and sure as hell wore it when I left hospital. Whats wrong with wanting to look nice. just because you've had a baby doesn't mean you have to give up.

I'll always admire her now for not hiding her belly when she came out. That was a brave thing to do and she has my respect for it.

Cherriesarelovely · 24/07/2013 15:25

Sleep404, agreed. I don't think we need to feel too sorry for her though. She is pretty well looked after!

Cherriesarelovely · 24/07/2013 15:26

She looked amazing, I thought anyway.

LadyEdith · 24/07/2013 15:45

Arabesque, the engagement outfits of Kate and Diana weren't the same shade of blue at all. Google some pics!

OP YABU. I think Kate got it just right yesterday, she looked gorgeous.

LadyBryan · 24/07/2013 15:47

Tell you something - I was in labour 42 hours. Had someone offered to come and wash and style my hair for me I would have bitten their hand, arm and scissors off

burberryqueen · 24/07/2013 15:50

of course she needed a hairdresser! all those people and cameras!

Lweji · 24/07/2013 15:55

Of course she needed.

After an 11 hour labour any woman will need help in looking good, particularly in front of those cameras.

I'd have loved to have a hairdresser every day after the birth, actually. Grin
