AIBU?

To think there was no need for a hairdresser and such to be ordered for Kate when she left the hospital yesterday.

First off: I know they are royals and are in the public eye a lot. But was there really a need for her to be sent a hairdresser so she'd look her absolute best when she left the hospital? I mean how many pregnant woman look pretty much perfect when they leave and actually care when they've just given birth 24 hours ago.

I think she's naturally pretty anyway so would have looked fine make up free with her hair tied up. I'm wondering if she requested it or if it was ordered she was to look her shining best to leave?

I think that I have got to the end of the silliness of the royal birth stories and another comes along! She has the entire world watching her leave and she isn't supposed to care what she looks like? Really?!!

DD has Kate Middleton hair Envy - it is exactly the same length, colour and texture, and I can assure you, getting it from naturally curly like Kate's in the humid weather abroad to swishy and sleek takes a lot of blow drying and straightening! which is why it takes us so long to leave the house

They looked pretty similar to me. LadyEdith. And a few newspapers have commented on the matching 'leaving hospital' dresses. There's a picture of them side by side in one newspaper and it's amazing how frumpy Diana looks next to Kate and yet everyone thought she looked fab at the time.

Dillydollydaydream, I can't see that link as it is blocked, is it of her with her bum or boobs on show?

Was thinking same! but i was more concerned that
1- she wouldnt fall down those steps with baby in her arms wearing high heels and
2- that her hair wouldnt go into babys mouth and
3- baby would be blinded by all the flash cameras going off!!

Agree with Worra about the 'poor woman' comments.

She's just given birth to the future King of England. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that she might be pleased about it, and want to show him off.

What an odd thing to say. Would you prefer that she came out in her pyjamas? They talked to the media, posed for photos and now hopefully no one will hiding in bushes waiting to take the first pic of the baby. Do you resent her having a hairdresser?

The world's media was watching!

YABU not only for all the media, but if I could have got a hairdresser and make up artist to make me look half human when I left hospital then I would have.

Alas, I left in my slippers, a pair of stained maternity trousers from the washing basket (i'd peed on the trousers I went in wearing), my hair was all stuck up and I had bad acne. The only other person seeing me was my Mam, but I do remember the joy of getting a shower and washing my hair and drying it when I got home.

I just wnat to add that I didnt give a shit about how I looked, it was more of how I felt.

I took my brand new baby into the bathroom with me whilst I neatened my hair and put a bit of slap on before I left the hospital. The only people coming to visit me were my family!

TBH when Diana had William, she came out looking frumpy in the big maternity dress and pop socks, etc. Definitely not looking her best. And some sections of the press had a right go at her.

So when Harry was born she went too far the other way, coming out styled and made up to the hilt.

And was roundly criticised for that!

I think Kate got it fine, the middle ground. Some styling, because they knew these pictures would be important, but not OTT.

I thought she got it completely right.

Bless some of my younger collegues today who were asking if it was still normal to look pg after birth. Yes my chickens. In this era of celebrities being back in their jeans in 30 seconds, it was really good to see a tiny bit of reality.

Give the girl a break! I can't believe that good or bad you think its OK to comment on someone's appearance when they've just given birth. Not cool.

I'm no fan of the Royals, however I feel for Kate as she is used to direct critical attemtion from William.
Yesterday was a prime example, it was reported & repeated here that it was 'her' hairdresser...she is not, she has cut Will & Harry's hair for years. Can you imagine any other woman using her husbands hairdresser? I can't. Poor cow. She seems very good at following orders though.
I also thought it was a farce that Wills drove off with the security guy in the passenger seat..I reckon they were allowed to get out of sight of press before switching places. This is all done to manipulate public opinion to make them look normal. I don't know of any other new mum who has a £1m renovation paid for by taxpayers...just sayin.

Forget using her husband's hairdresser, she used his grandma's gynaecologist!

Yabu.

Just think about it doofus. Would you want the pic brought out in 100yrs to be you in trackies uggs n scraped back hair or a dress blow dry and make up?

Bet she put it on one hour before and took it off IMMEDIATELY she got home.

super can you not be a unisex hairdresser? Perhaps that's just easier because she's cleared security etc.

Why so sceptical Super? The man can fly, why can't he drive his baby home?

I just want to apologise. You all seem to have misunderstood my point of the thread. I was in no way shape or form criticising Kate for putting make-up on and having her hair done. I understand why she had to. All I was asking was do you think she needed to? She would have looked bloody beautiful without it. I think she is one very pretty woman. I can see why she had it all done but she'd look just as good without in my opinion. This thread was not started to bash or criticise Kate for her appearance and usage of a hairdresser at all and I'm sorry if it came across that way.

If she hadn't she would have been bashed and criticised by the world press- therefore she had no choice.

I understand that exotic :) This wasn't meant in to really mean anything more than despite her having to wear it when she left she looks good either way. Maybe I should have worded the starting post more clearly.
