So i was in town this morning with the Q7 (or the panzer tank as I call it) and i pulled up to a space. I reversed in a few times but i was always a bit squint. Eventually i left the car squint but still in the bay. I let out my kids and just while i locked the car this woman came over.

she said i should go back and straighten the car out because it was squint. I told her that if she had a q7 i would like to see her park it in such a tight space. She thought i was suggesting that she didn't have a big car because she was poor. i wasn't suggesting that at all. so she went into a long rant about me being disrespectful. i was shocked .

but i didn't shout too much cause i had two kids with me.

aibu to be annoyed at her.

if you're in the lines, what is the problem

Hate to point out the basics of geometry here, but you're forgetting that people also need to be able to open the doors, not just leave the car there.

No stats, just what I see out and about but there and again, they are usually men under 45 driving them. Like I said, it's probably the demographics of where I live and when I am out in the car. I'm not about to label all Audi drivers when my next car is likely to be an Audi ;-)

Don't you find it easier to park a bigger car though? I've been driving the BMW while on holiday and because of the glorious wonderful parking sensors parking it is a dream compared to my Peugeot.

Lunatic?

You talking about me? I'm not smug much.

My mum has an Audi, a secondhand one and she is not not a twat! Very far from it. She is also an excellent driver.

She is actually going to sell it because she is sick of boyracers asking her for a race at traffic lights Hmm

Lunatic. It's not just on Mumsnet. Everyone knows that Audi drivers are what BMW drivers were 10 years ago. Smug, arrogant, and and oh so up themselves lol.

Well, my mum is none of those things so not every Audi driver are arrogant twats.

I think it's more arrogant and twattish to make a statement like that based on the few Audi drivers you may have met.

It's just a bloody car. I am pretty sure there are just as many arrogant twats driving beat up cheap bangers.

Squint is a shit word to describe parking. Do you mean wonky/badly parked/not straight? Even if you are in the bay you might be on an angle to cause people parking either side issues. Learn to park and stop bragging about your Audi.

it matters not the car. the rule should be - if you can't park the fucker, you shouldn't have it.

that being said. the woman should have been told " do fuck off dear"

Why do people think people who have nice cars and are clearly financially successful are all arrogant twats? Maybe they are just clever or good at what they do. And maybe the people that say they are twats are just seething inside that they cant afford them. The green eye monster is rife in this country. It is very sad that people can't stand others success.

Ha ha I did wonder. I was just stating the facts but I might have been a bit smug cos I luffs my new motor!

I love a parking thread. They always develop into a massive chip-on-the-shoulder rant about what we're allowed to drive. Invariably it's about big cars or 4x4's. I don't give a shit what anyone thinks about my car. I bought it with my own money, I can drive it perfectly well, it's quite environmentally friendly and I'll try not to kill anyone in it. I'm not a boy racer so hopefully I'll be alright.

A few people slagging off 4x4 . Why you have one is inconsequential , I agree if you can't park it either find a space with no one around you can just drive into or think about a different car .

Also this thread has list sight if the original question , op probably included the make of car so people could look and judge whether the woman was bu or op , size if car = more difficult to park . To answer original question. Yes the woman was bu to have a go because of your parking . I would've been mortified . However, as I said before maybe car is too big for you ? Loving the idea if a safira (sp) as a potato on wheels Grin

No car is hard to park! You & your friends just can't park it.

My dh's work van is bigger than the Q7 & I can park that, I haven't been driving all that long either.

It doesn't matter if you are in the lines, if you are not straight it can be harder for the cars to get in & out.
