to lose it at this angry woman who criticised my parking.

So i was in town this morning with the Q7 (or the panzer tank as I call it) and i pulled up to a space. I reversed in a few times but i was always a bit squint. Eventually i left the car squint but still in the bay. I let out my kids and just while i locked the car this woman came over.

she said i should go back and straighten the car out because it was squint. I told her that if she had a q7 i would like to see her park it in such a tight space. She thought i was suggesting that she didn't have a big car because she was poor. i wasn't suggesting that at all. so she went into a long rant about me being disrespectful. i was shocked .

but i didn't shout too much cause i had two kids with me.

aibu to be annoyed at her.

I have a big estate car
I can't parallel park
When I learnt to drive I didn't need to do it, and I've never needed to do it since
I'm sure if my house only had street parking I'd be an expert at parallel parking
Everyone needs to practice, and if you're not very good at parking it's hardly a hanging offence, even if you have an unreasonable car the size of Greenland. Unless you park sideways across a motorway

I'd like a car with a reversing camera, then I'd spend all day parking Grin

FannyFifer · 26/07/2013 19:23

Audi drivers are generally twats though.

HeyIJustMetYou · 26/07/2013 19:28

This thread is even worse than my one. YANBU OP, and I don't think you were bragging by mentioning the model. People invariably seem to have a chip on their shoulder towards people who have what they don't - human nature sadly.

chipmonkey · 26/07/2013 19:31

And you had to be vile to everlong to make your point?

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 26/07/2013 19:32

I'd like to be an Audi Driver, an untwattish one like Gene Hunt

I like the little Audi sports car, not very practical for children and dogs though

Sigh

FannyFifer · 26/07/2013 19:39

But Gene Hunt is slang for cunt so regretfully he is also an Audi driving twat. Grin

SirChenjin · 26/07/2013 20:11

All Audi drivers are twats. It's a well known fact. Rather than crying because I don't drive an Auuuuuudi, I think thank fuck I'm not driving a twat's car Grin

Goooooooooooooooooooooood · 26/07/2013 20:43

Secondhand Q7's can be had for £12-13,000. (See earlier links) That is less than the cost of a new Ford Fiesta or a Vauxhall Corsa. It hardly in the luxury class of car.

The judgey, jealous posters who are attacking the OP for having a luxury car presumably ride around on bicycles

Comments saying that all Audi drivers are twats are prettly, well, twattish themselves.

..and if the OPs car is a brand new top-of-the-range Q7 so bloody what. She can spend her money on whatever she likes.

People spend loads on private schools, fancy holidays, second homes, wedings, house renovations - are these more acceptable than spending money on a car you like.

That would be me. It comes with the Audi driving territory I'm afraid (although I'm sure she's very lovely in all other respects) Grin

I can assure you Goooetcd - I am really, really not jealous of a Q7. It's actually quite twattish to suggest that people who are attacking the OP for having a luxury car are jealous (the attack, in fact, is on her inability to park the car she chooses to drive...)

She can't park her Q7. 2 ridiculous aspects to that sentence....

Bizarrely my new Freelander is easier to park than my old estate car. I don't know whether it's because it's higher up and I can see differently or because it's nearly a foot shorter in length than the estate was.

See. 4x4 not always bigger than non-4x4.

Ilovemyself · 27/07/2013 10:06

Lunatic. It's not just on Mumsnet. Everyone knows that Audi drivers are what BMW drivers were 10 years ago. Smug, arrogant, and and oh so up themselves lol.

And it is not jealousy that upsets most - it is the smugness. Oh look at me, I drive a big luxury car so I must me important!

idobelieveinfairies · 27/07/2013 10:23

Yanbu

Hope you have a better parking day today.
:)

Glittertwins · 27/07/2013 10:25

I tend to agree with Ilovemyself on the reputations and I'm hoping that I don't live up to the old image of BMW drivers!
I'm not in the least bit jealous, we can afford to have one, it's the attitudes of the drivers I come across that scream "it's all about me" but maybe that's just where we live

idobelieveinfairies · 27/07/2013 10:27

I drive a big luxury car but it's not a case of being smug and being able to afford it...it's because I like the look of it and I got it for an absolute bargain due a lovely man buying a brand new Q7 and needing this one off his drive ;)

Was meant to sell it on for a profit but have fallen in love with it.

I like cars, I'd rather have a nice car than go on holiday but that's just the way I am!

Glittertwins · 27/07/2013 10:30

Snap, the car lasts longer! I love my cars.

Flojobunny · 27/07/2013 10:30

Why didnt you just forward park?
What is it with people who reverse park in to spaces? It's much easier to reverse out in to the big open car park that reverse in to a tiny space.

idobelieveinfairies · 27/07/2013 10:33

Glitter.....I see from your post you are a BMW person, X5??!

Glittertwins · 27/07/2013 12:19

No, not an X5. Already have a 7 sweater and don't need another one. I like them though!

Glittertwins · 27/07/2013 12:22

Flojobunny, it's supposedly safer for us as a person and more fuel efficient to reverse into a space. I don't quite get the fuel efficiency as either way I'm still going backwards. Personal safety is because when the car door is opened, it acts as a barrier between you getting in and anyone following you and you can drive away faster forwards than you can backwards.

enpanne · 27/07/2013 12:29

"I own an Audi Q7 don't you know... I parked like a twat... woman pulled me up on it... as a poor pleb she couldn't understand the difficulties of parking a Q7 am I right?"

Boom.. 400 replies.

More formulaic than a Simon Cowell show.
