And actually have nothing better in their lives than to argue black is white just to piss people off?

Sparklingbrook · 21/07/2013 18:44

YANBU. But it's out there in RL too.

ICBINEG · 21/07/2013 18:45

YABU. If you can't stand the heat...

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 18:46

True but at least in RL we are not censored for telling them to wind their necks in and get lost!

OP posts:
olidusUrsus · 21/07/2013 18:46

YANBU.

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 18:46

And as if by magic....

no. you will always find a bit of that wherever you go on the internet. it is the nature of the beast.
as it happens, MN is one of the places where this happens the least! there are many forums that are populated entirely by trolls.

but here the nasty responses and the goady threads started to try to engineer a fight are fewer.

and easily spotted.

catgirl1976 · 21/07/2013 18:47

But black is white isn't it?

I read a study once that said it was, so it must be.

Wuldric · 21/07/2013 18:47

I've been accused of arguing black is white before now, but genuinely not wanting to cause a ruck, simply usually stating my POV unemotionally (I hope) on the facts given. Sometimes I know it's not what people want to hear, though.

LoveBeingUpAt4InTheMorning · 21/07/2013 18:48

Whereas this thread is not

SaucyJack · 21/07/2013 18:49

Hell yes. Most fun you can get for free.

LastTangoInDevonshire · 21/07/2013 18:50

SoupDragon · 21/07/2013 18:54

to think that some mumsnetters just like to cause agro

I assume you're including yourself in that statement.

internationallove985 · 21/07/2013 18:55

I don't think it's causing aggro as such it's just that most people are very passionate about what they believe in. Just because someone has a different opinion it doesn't mean they're out to cause trouble or indeed hiding under the bridge with the 3 Billy Goats Gruff. I'm a big girl I can take that not everyone is going to agree with me, but like I said that's not trolling it's just life. xx

makemineamalibuandpineapple · 21/07/2013 18:55

There are always the "yes but" brigade IYKWIM. It doesn't matter what you say they seem to enjoy coming up with an opposing view.

Xihha · 21/07/2013 18:57

babyhmummy, i wonder what could possibly of prompted this? Grin

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 18:58

There is a big difference between having an opposing viewpoint which is perfectly healthy and to be encouraged and deliberate goading and false info spreading

OP posts:
babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 18:59

xihha can't imagine what you mean Grin

OP posts:
SarahStrattonIsBackForJustABit · 21/07/2013 18:59

False info spreading? Where's that happening?

EllieArroway · 21/07/2013 19:00

But how do you know that they are just trying to piss you off and not that they have a different opinion to you?

What seriously, seriously fucks me off is being called a troll or wind up merchant for disagreeing with someone, and saying why.

What a boring forum this would be if everyone was just agreeing with each other all the time.

And as if by magic.... This comment suggests to me that you, actually, cannot cope being disagreed with. Grow up, perhaps?

MrsWooster · 21/07/2013 19:01

Are you looking at my pint?

MammaTJ · 21/07/2013 19:02

What? I am thinking that if people agree with you on here the are perfectly healthy and to be encouraged but if they disagree they are goading and false info spreading. Ah well, I haven't been goading for a while, so I will tell you that people are entitled to their opinions, whether they are the same as yours or not.

PeriodFeatures · 21/07/2013 19:02

I feel quite encouraged that people are as opinionated and judgemental as i am.

I personally love it.

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 19:03

ellie there have been a few threads where 2 posters on particular have deliberately gone out of their way to goad etc, its quite easy to spot on these threads

OP posts:
piprabbit · 21/07/2013 19:03

I think we need a wooden spoon emoticon for handing to stirrers. Obviously a goad would be ideal, but possibly a bit hard to represent as a teeny image.
