And actually have nothing better in their lives than to argue black is white just to piss people off?

To be fair BabyH, I've come to realise that said poster really is just on a wind up. All the talk about children etc - her kids are grown. The OP and the aim of the thread (which was actually quite reasonable at the start) had no bearing on said poster, she just wanted a ruck.

It is bloody annoying, but unfortunately happening more often I feel.

Hmm, possibly time for another break..

babyhmummy01 · 21/07/2013 20:40

I didn't get riled for text language being pointed out! And my comments were no worse than others but fair enough.

HoneyDragon · 21/07/2013 20:40

HoneyDragon · 21/07/2013 20:42

LtEve don't you fucking dare leave me! >

usualsuspect · 21/07/2013 20:43

I'm going to have to go and read the bloody dog thread now.

scottishmummy · 21/07/2013 20:44

Haha receiving end of a Birkenstock.thats priceless
I will steal that, and shamelessly use it
As if it were me

Trigglesx · 21/07/2013 20:45

I avoid dog threads, for the sake of my mental health. If your 'friendly' dog is out of control and runs towards me/the children it might find itself on the receiving end of a Birkenstock. As long as you take responsibility for that I am happy.
^
I am in this camp as well.

I'll have to take your word for the weasel poster, as obviously I've missed it. Confused

HoneyDragon · 21/07/2013 20:46

Usual, don't do it love. You'll read it. It will rile you, you'll get involved. You'll get angry. You'll lose faith. The comes the flounce. Then

BAM!!!!!!!

Side Bollocks of Shame. The Sequel.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 21/07/2013 20:47

Saints bloody preserve us - do I have to read it too? Or can you precis and bullet-point here when you're done usual?

curlew · 21/07/2013 20:49

Personally, I have much more of a problem with the professionally unoffended.........

usualsuspect · 21/07/2013 20:49

I'm going in...

HoneyDragon · 21/07/2013 20:49

TSC

what size are you? I could do with a new pair of Birkies.

HoneyDragon · 21/07/2013 20:49

Usually nooooooooooooooo!

Xihha · 21/07/2013 20:50

Dallas and babyhmummy I am sorry, I'm fairly new to mn and didn't realise a dog thread would cause such controversy.

Trigglesx · 21/07/2013 20:51

Oh dear - I considered going and reading it, but am going to hold back and let usualsuspect do recon. Grin Much safer this way.

I have to say think an awful lot of posters just agree with the OP as their default setting and never try to think of the other side of the story, so yes I do try and think of that to redress the balance. I think sometimes people would get dreadful advice if you didn't. Sometimes just nodding and agreeing isn't constructive.

LtEveDallas · 21/07/2013 20:53

Don't bother usual. The thread was all about controlled dogs - ie those on leads walking at heel with their owners, but being run up on or hit etc by 'uncontrolled' children.

The OP asked a very reasonable AIBU - about parents teaching their kids not to do that, because it could mean that the child was bitten by a startled, scared or hurt dog. Common sense no?

The dog haters started going on about uncontrolled dogs not what was being talked about and so on, then the Goady fuckers started and it all went downhill - oh and some passive aggressive wanker decided to try and put another poster down for using txt spk (u and ur rather than you and your) but luckily just made herself look pathetic.

There you go, whole thread in a nutshell - and it wasn't even in the Doghouse Grin

UnexpectedStepmum · 21/07/2013 20:53

Precis:

OP: children shouldn't annoy my well behaved dog, it might attack them.
Some posters: yes, I agree.
Other posters: no, owners should control their dogs.
One particular poster: so some people think children's faces should be ripped off with impunity!!??!
Posters: shut up.
OPP: you shut up.

(Unexpected leaves the thread without following to the end)

nenevomito · 21/07/2013 20:54

Stealth boasting again TSC? Tsc tsc. Birkenstocks!! Some of us only have flipflops you caaaaah.

HoneyDragon · 21/07/2013 20:54

Well MrsW

I taught her how to go down the slide this weekend. So now I can take her to the park and not get into trouble as she's knows the correct Mnet slide etiquette of up the steps and down the slide. Grin

scottishmummy · 21/07/2013 20:54

Usual night on mn then

scottishmummy · 21/07/2013 20:55

So it's the usual doggy woggy apologists berating anyone who doesn't love a slobbering, shitting, barking mutt
