Just that really.... I now have 5k but friend says its immoral

OP posts:
Feminine · 11/07/2013 13:55

Right...

ANormalOne · 11/07/2013 13:55

It's your money, it's your body, it's your choice.

Forgetfulmog · 11/07/2013 13:57

Well I guess it's your money so you can do what you want with it.

DocMarten · 11/07/2013 13:57

Are you spoiling for a fight with your op OP?

ilovechips · 11/07/2013 13:57

A wind up I assume?

Mrs3chins · 11/07/2013 13:57

The mind boggles...

BaldricksTurnip · 11/07/2013 14:01

(Passes hacksaw)

Here you go Pinocchio.

Mamafratelli · 11/07/2013 14:02

Spend it on whatever you want.

EugenesAxe · 11/07/2013 14:02

It's not immoral for goodness sake... the government were mooting the idea of trying to control what people that were in any way dependent on the state spent their cash on recently, but thankfully it was quashed.

People can make judgements about your choice however they like, but you aren't a child so who's to tell you what to do?! ANormal is right.

DocMarten · 11/07/2013 14:10

pmsl @ Pinnochio.

The OP wants this thread to kick off. She wants people to say all the usual crap about why are you getting tax credits if you clearly don't need them/can afford to save it all blah blah

Ignore..............

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 11/07/2013 14:11

Spend it on whatever you want. I would blaze it up the wall on a Chanel handbag and a holiday Grin

ArbitraryUsername · 11/07/2013 14:14

It's clearly unreasonable to spend it on a nose job. Spend it all on haribo and chocolate buttons instead. Grin

SolomanDaisy · 11/07/2013 14:15

Sell your story to the Daily Mail and you could get some botox at the same time?

LuisSuarezTeeth · 11/07/2013 14:16

Fags booze and a goat would contribute more in taxes, therefore YABU

tabulahrasa · 11/07/2013 14:19

I don't think it's immoral because it's benefit money...I would wonder about your priorities if you're bringing up children on a low income and are spending that much on something that only benefits you though.

Maybe you've managed to save that much and your children have plenty, but I do know of somebody who spent a fair whack of money going to a festival alone when I happen to know that she claims not to be able to replace her children's worn out shoes and in situations like that, I do judge.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 11/07/2013 14:26

If your kids are going hungry or with holes in their shoes or without anything so you can get your nose done then it's immoral.

If they aren't going without any essentials at all, then suit yourself.

If I had 5k then I'd probably prefer to give the kids a holiday and stuff like that, but if your nose is really ruining your life (I know that some people feel so badly about it that it really affects them) then I've heard of worse things to do. At least once it's done it's done and you never have to spend on it again.

Floggingmolly · 11/07/2013 14:31

No wonder this country's in the state it's in. If you can save the tax credits for a nose job (or anything else), how do you qualify for them in the first place?

ICBINEG · 11/07/2013 14:34

I think it is immoral to have nose jobs regardless where the money comes from....or maybe I mean sad/stupid.

Why would anyone have a nose job?

AudrinaAdare · 11/07/2013 14:35

I might be mixing you up with someone else but do you have very supportive parents you are living with while you do an intern-ship? Fashion? If so, hope it's going well Smile

I would bloody love a nose-job but was always scared by the thought of it needing more than one op and having to save all over again!

Maybe because they had an accident that left them with a really crooked nose, or maybe because their nose even without accident is, in their view, really awful and it upsets them so much that it badly affects their confidence and makes them feel awful about themselves and they just don't have the confidence to shrug off the years of comments, stares and the sinking feeling that they get every time they look in the mirror?

(I've never had one or felt that I needed one. I'm just speculating)

Feminine · 11/07/2013 14:39

I think this a wind-up.

Its weird to post a knowingly provocative thread, and say very little!

Latara · 11/07/2013 14:42

I don't believe that anyone who gets tax credits can afford to save any money anyway - I definitely can't.

ICBINEG · 11/07/2013 14:46

hecsy yeah but thinking that happiness is directly linked to appearance is bullshit in reality. If you get bullied for your nose then you are likely to get bullied over something else once you have spend a wadge of cash you could have spent on doing something that would ACTUALLY make you happy. Oh yes and the bullies will have won. I mean maybe if you pay them the 5k direct then they might go away...Hmm

was reading about the woman who had the her breasts enlarged on the NHS so she would finally be happy, and now wants them reducing on the NHS because they drew so much negative attention...

uhuh.

PatsyAndEddy · 11/07/2013 14:47

Fair enough.

But that's a lot of tax credits - aka income for your house to do without. I've qualified for that amount before but there was no way I cuoldn't have not used it for day to day living. You must be very frugal!
