To peg my washing out over night

I am new to this, but as I am saving any way I can to get out of debt ASAP I bought a washing line. ( saved £7 this week by not using the tumble dryer)

So do I peg out my washing tonight.

Pffft, mine is out now for overnight drying, and NDN rarely has an empty line overnight or otherwise!

Do not understand any reason why wouldn't (unless is going to rain!).

Tho having said that, I wouldn't put washing out in front garden (well, yard really) even tho south facing so would dry really fast even in winter.

Strange snobbery?

I don't see why not, but then I wake up before my neighbours anyway so it's in before they know! If they do see it and think it is common, well they shouldn't be looking in my garden as snooping is common too!

I wouldn't put it in the front as that's where the traffic fumes are

I do, go for it!

It's far commoner to have smelly washing ( if you give a shit)

I cannot do it, I feel like everyone knows I did the washing first thing this morning and they know I have been lazy and have only remembered it needs hanging out and none of my neighbours do it.

I see no real problem with it if the weather is nice, other than people stealing things ...

I do it all the time, nothing wrong with it.

In colder weather you might get a smell, because it would get damp over night, but tonight will be fine! I haven't managed to get a load on today.

No and no fat no!
It slovenly to do that. Get up peg it out and then bring it in!

I have an overspil line that i ( kindly) offered a neighbour the use of.......you guessed it she pegs out at 6.00pm. People think it's my washing!

Lazy lady imo. I've had to bring it in when she clogs up The line for DAYS i kid you not. that women never lived in a shared house

I do it. I have just hung a load out. I wont have time in the morning and this way I can get it in after the morning madness is over. I will have another load to hang out by about 10 am and this load will be dry. I do 2 a day.

It doesn't smell of anything but fresh air. I can't stand drying washing in the house - that IS smelly and damp. No way am I using the tumble dryer in july!

So YANBU, but then I am hardly the benchmark for whether YABCommon. Grin

I would never hang out washing over night - i live in Scotland - there is always a high risk of rain.

In the olden days everyone lit their fires in the evening and washing left out overnight would get sooty and smelly from the smogs that built up in the cities.

As for the slattern/snobby thing. wtf??? What century are you in???

Yes- It's so warm and dry at the moment mine is often out overnight and dry by the morning.
I am ever so slightly obsessed with hanging laundry out tho' as I lived in the US for several years and hanging laundry out in your garden was not allowed- homeowners assos rules!!!

I didn't even realise washing on the line would be a snob/common thing.

My clothes smells alot more fresher and saving money win/win

BTW everyone, this country is going to struggle with electricity supplies soon. The less we can use, the better.

tumble driers must be an absolute last resort.

Night laundry smells mysterious and magical. Day laundry smells like a warm breeze.

Mine gets covered in spiders webs if I leave it out overnight. It's the only reason I try not to and so end up putting it out first thing in the morning whilst still in my pjs - is that more common than hanging washing out overnight?
