AIBU?

To only wash my bedding ...

Every 2 weeks?

King size and junior double sheets, duvet cover etc., which I iron. Plus spare bed maybe every 4 weeks (me/DH spend the odd night when we are having problems sleeping/have visitors staying over). Can't understand how other mums manage to get everything washed, dried and ironed in a week?!

Am I manky?

Mostly laid back and bohemian, occasionally fiendish. Thanks Devora Smile

Why are we all interested though? This thread has happened a bunch of times since I've been lurking on MN. Yet here we all are. I just read five pages of the thing.

happyfreeconfused - why are you accusing people of lying?

threewheelsgood - I do mine either once or twice a week, sometimes more in summer. I don't have a tumble dryer and I don't have much inside space either - I just put them over an airer - generally somewhere in the way that has to be moved 90 million times, but such is life!

Yeeeees, I sort of know it's madness to iron but I can't help it.

GiraffesandButterflies I KNOW!

Every week without fail usually Sunday or Monday morning.

I cannot bear to sleep in sheets that aren't clean and freshly laundered. I'd have clean sheets everyday if I had the time! Used to iron them but I don't anymore, not even the pillowcases.

Every bed was stripped this morning and the sheets are all out drying on the line as I type. It's a good feeling! Grin

Weekly. DH and I are nekkid sleepers and DC are sweaty teenagers.
Also Hoover the beds.
Towels after single use.

With a refluxy baby at the moment, about twice a week. Usually, weekly to three weekly, depending on when I remember.

Yanbu. I only do mine once or twice a month. I shower every evening and wear clean pj's every night, am single so there's no sex going on. Seems pointless changing it more often.

I don't really sweat in saunas, let alone in bed.

Another fiendish slattern here - every 6 weeks or so. DH says he likes our bed to smell 'lovely and nest-like' Blush

By a curious coincidence I did put my foot down and change everyone's beds this morning (before seeing this thread, I hasten to add). I also obeyed the Mumsnet tip of placing duvet covers and pillowcases inside another pillowcase so now our linen cupboard is splendidly organised

Strip and wash bedding every Saturday.

Snuggling up to watch a film in bed on Saturday night in new bedding followed by a lie in on Sunday = heaven.

Don't iron bedding though, fold it straight from the line and put in airing cupboard.

We have three sets of identical bedding so its always co-ordinated.

MrsDeVere, I hope you are on commission. I have just ordered a bed vac and good ideas mattress deoderiser pack!

Moving house in a few weeks and I have just bought a fabric sofa so quite excited by this Smile.

Three sets of identical bedding! That's genius. I've just started that thing where you put a compete bedding set in a pillowcase and was all smug about that.

Every week. Duvet, sheet and pillowcases. Live in a flat and hang them over the doors to dry. Sleep alone and fresh bed linen is one of life's small but gear pleasures.

Every couple of months. Do i need to name change now in case i am having a heated discussion with someone about the MMR or something and the person wins the argument by saying "Well you only change your sheets every couple of months!!" Grin

Shame MN doesn't have anonymous polls like another well known parent site, as we might see more MNetters are fiendish slatterns than will admit to it in the thread! Grin

Who buys white bedding? Why create unecessary work? Dark colours are the way to go. I mourn the fact you can't get dishwater grey bedding.

"More than once a week = anal."

Quite.
We don't do anal in our bed, so we change the sheets once a week usually. Grin

How can you possibly need to wash towels after one use?! Even hotels encourage you to use them more than once.

Beckamoor Hah! Very good.

Why has it never occurred to me before to put the bedding set in one pillowcase in the airing cupboard?! Genius.

Pretty much all my sheets and pillowcases are white, apart from some matching pillowcase/duvet sets - I think my mother drummed into me from an early age that if you didn't have plain white bedding that you could wash at an insanely high temperature then you would basically die horrifically in some kind of dustmite-related carnage. I do see that this is a bit mental, but it's just what you get used to, isn't it?!

Once or twice a week the beds get changed, when I don't work it gets done even more. Bedding can take as long as it wants to dry, have more than one set. Isn't that normal? Was always told to have 3 of everything - one in the wash, one in use, and one clean. It doesn't have to be a chore, you don't have to struggle either to get the quilt in the cover, you just make sure the cover is inside out when you take it off to wash.

It never gets ironed though. Neither does anything else. Haven't owned an iron in about 8 years.

Don't care if I'm anal. Prefer nice comfy, fresh bedding to smelly, manky hard sheets. Hate being ill for this reason. All I want is to curl up in a freshly made bed, but too ill and the sheets are horrid.
