AIBU?

To only wash my bedding ...

Every 2 weeks?

King size and junior double sheets, duvet cover etc., which I iron. Plus spare bed maybe every 4 weeks (me/DH spend the odd night when we are having problems sleeping/have visitors staying over). Can't understand how other mums manage to get everything washed, dried and ironed in a week?!

Am I manky?

I've just started washing the top and bottom sheet once a week but leaving the duvet cover and protectors fortnightly (tho I'm not averse to leaving them up to a month if things get hectic). A much older friend gave me the hint and I can't believe I didn't think of this before!

Good grief I wash the duvet covers about every 2 or 3 months. I don't think of them as getting dirty the way the sheets do. Plus the unbelievably maddening experience of wrestling a king-size duvet back onto a king-size comforter makes me want to just set the bed on fire and call it a day.

Or rather, wrestling duvet cover back onto duvet. Or comforter cover back on comforter. These terms confuse me.

I don't think Devora's summary is at all accurate.

We keep getting these bedding threads on MN and those who change their beds less than fortnightly feel ashamed to post. But I bet they're the majority. And not fiendish or slatternly.

If I used a top sheet, I don't think I would ever wash my duvet cover again!!!

we once when three months without a change although about every six weeks is about average. it just becomes a Mexican standoff as we both hate changing the bed.

I can't see the problem I get up and have a shower every morning, so why bother about ot being a bit grotty.

I lurrrvve clean sheets and that lovely crisp feel. Not enough to change them more than once a month though. If I won the lottery, I would employ a sheet changer to put brand new sheets on every day.

We change our sheets once a month and TBH they don't normally seem dirty after a month but we change them anywayGrin. No pets or eating in bed here. Definitely not ironed. I think I'd struggle to get them washed and dried if we changed them more often.

Every ten days and I iron everything, even knickers.

Every 2 weeks. Holly you can't change your bedding every day!

About 10 days to for fortnightly and everything is ironed. I know MN is very anti iron but its amazing having crisp white sheets to slide in to. Looks so much better too. Our bedroom is my haven.

Can't stand people who don't wash guest linen in between guests! Gross.

I'm curious to know if anybody irons their sheets on the bed?

I once saw it done on a TV programme about a minimalist hotel owned by some designer or other (might've be Anouska Hempel).

It's an aspiration, but since I've no idea where my iron is, I don't see it happening any time soon.

Is everyone being honest here?! I do mine about once a month but I have my bed to myself these days. When I had a partner it was definitely more because they were smellier. Children's bedding the same unless accidents/spillages of course.

Ok - slattern reporting for duty. Bed gets changed every 2 months or so here! We haven't died yet..

Ideally once a fortnight, sometimes more often, sometimes less frequently.

Spare bed gets changed when someone has used it and never in between.

I changed mine on Friday and when I got in bed I though I may change them every day, they were still nice last night though, I have my others hanging out so will see if I cbarsed changing them again.

How can someone with an "OCD personality" Hmm allow snacks and desserts to be eaten in the "big family bed"? Do you all share one bed for sleeping, too?

I change mine about once every 2-3 weeks, but if it was up to my husband it would literally never, ever happen.

I do iron bedding, God knows why, and also teatowels, but pretty much nothing else.

Meant to add that my mother irons everything she owns, including knickers, but she is stark raving bonkers and also takes her own bedding away with her when she goes on holiday. (Sometimes I take a pillowcase as am often allergic to the super-strength bio powder they use in hotels.)

Report
KirjavaTheCat · 21/04/2013 10:23

I wash them every Sunday. The sheets are on the dining table right now waiting to be taken up in fact.

Ironing bedsheets?!

About once a fortnight. Who cares if it's manky? It's my mank. I have a shower when I get up. Certainly don't iron.
