I recently re-watched the whole of S&TC (ill in bed with not much else to do), and never realised before what a whiney, needy and obsessive woman she really is.

She only apologised to Natasha for having an affair with her husband because she couldn't believe someone in New York could hate her that much

She willingly went back to Big countless times regardless of knowing that she was going to be hurt again.

She screwed over Aidan twice

I could go on

I know she's just a fictional character and the show would be boring if she was perfect.

But aibu to really dislike her?

Miranda was the only one who really ever experienced sexual rejection. She was also the most realistic - lawyer who works all the time to make ends meet. The rest seemed a bit vacuous.

I could never bear SATC. A bunch of grown up women whining like teenagers. They were all far too long in the tooth for the roles they played. About 20 years too old.

40 year old barflies, fluttering about weddings... They were the age to be divorced single parents, not just starting out dating. As Baresarkbunny says, Carrie reminds me of the ghastly Liz Jones.

Just a thought: is it because Liz Jones' sell by date is stamped on her bum that she hasn't noticed it?

Anyway I love the programme. It cheers me up when I've had a shit day at work and I find a repeat on some sky channel.

I warmed to Miranda as she slowly accepted motherhood, and she freely admitted it was tough, but as Brady gets older you see her really take to the mother role quite well.

Samantha annoyed me in the film over Miranda's bikini area.

And it did show women in the driving seat in sexual matters, especially Samantha, but not exclusively her.

Remember when Samantha let a guy who was warm and funny and interesting....but short? And she dyumped him. Or when she had great sex with a handsome, rich guy in his 70s, but went off him when she saw his wrinkly bottom?

That type of storyline where women were in control of their choices felt very new. At the same time, I remember ER which almost prided itself on having same sex relationships and inter-racial relationships that were supposed to be oh so innovative, but they always remained incredibly conventional.

Oh it's so not anti SATC they sleep around like mad. Ones a writer, one works in a gallery, one is shagging a man that doesn't want her. It's influence is all over it. I really can't watch it anymore. When it's funny it's hysterical but the laughs are few and far between.

I loved SATS so much but looking back and watching old episodes makes me realise how different my generation are from theirs and some of the things i thought were great when watching it seem either kind of sad now or just pathetic.

They always moaned (except Samantha) about finding the right man, "the one," then when did find one they moaned and moaned about it!

Like Carrie moaned when was with BIG in series 1 & 2 because he wouldn't commit to her, then she found Aiden in series 3 and moaned he was too available and wasn't content at a great relationship so threw it away.

When it was on, as in when it was exciting new telly, SATC was the highlight of my television week. I loved it.

Now I see episodes and think "you bunch of spoilt, narcissistic cows". Only Steve was ever nice. It's gutting, really. They were my best mates, once upon a time.

One thing i thought Carrie was bitch over was when she dated Aiden the 2nd time around and she insisted on continuing her friendship with big and made Aiden out to be the asshole for not liking it. As if Aiden would be happy she is still friends with the man she cheated on him with. She evn told him he could come up to Aidens country house and told Aiden it was ok because Big was in need and she was his friend bullshit - then they had a fight in the mud!

Imagine if Aiden had cheated on her with his ex then got back together with Carrie a year later and insisted he still be friends with the woman he cheated on her with! Carrie would moan like a bitch!

I just watched the SJP interview with Jonathan Ross and yes she was actually shocked to hear Carrie described as needy.

They also talked about Aidan and SJP said "yes but wasn't she nice to him?"

If I came on here and said I was dating a nice guy but I cheated on him with my ex. Then we got back together and he selfishly made me go to his place in the country and I had to invite my ex too because we're just friends now.

My boyfriend then proposed to me and bought my apartment and the one next door so we could combine the two. But then I realised he wasn't the one so I broke up with him.

Now I know I might be being unreasonable but ... I was still nice to him wasn't I??

Apparently SJP got more and more input in the character of Carrie as the series went on.
So all the posing, clutching her chest with her veiny hands and licking her lips 'seductively' were all her.
As well as acting like an OTT teenager with men (remember when she fainted with the Russian?) and calling her 40 something friends 'gals'. Yuck.
