to not like Carrie Bradshaw?

(Not sure if this is the right section but ...)

I recently re-watched the whole of S&TC (ill in bed with not much else to do), and never realised before what a whiney, needy and obsessive woman she really is.

She only apologised to Natasha for having an affair with her husband because she couldn't believe someone in New York could hate her that much Hmm

She willingly went back to Big countless times regardless of knowing that she was going to be hurt again.

She screwed over Aidan twice

I could go on Grin

I know she's just a fictional character and the show would be boring if she was perfect.

But aibu to really dislike her?

'you're a middle aged woman eating pot noodle in a fag stained bedsit. Get a grip.'

I haven't laughed so hard in yonks, thank you!

I met Kim Cattrall, she was a nice lady.

YANBU, she was basically the worst part of the show!

Aiden sanded Carrie's floors. What's not to love.

I would also shag Harry. I always thought Steve was a bit clingy/needed.

God she is so annoying, her and her love for extortionate shoes and "wacky" clothes.

Aiden did have a lucky escape. That episode when the went to Aidens little house out in the woods and she invited Big! Come on tae fuck! Who would do that! The bloke she cheated with! Jesus wept.

I loved Harry, he was so much nicer the Trey, when Charlotte said that she was unlikely to conceive, he just didnt care, Charlotte was more important to him.

Thanks for making me laugh really hard. Forgot about that. And then they got in a fight and she was sooo shocked and horrified.

And then she tried to bake a cake and burnt herself because of the big scary squirrel looking at her through the window. Threw a big tantrum about having to spend time with Aiden in the country. What a hardship!

Ha! The squirrel! She described it as 'a rat with a cuter outfit'. Idiot.

I don't know about you ladies, but what solidified my relationship with "my man" was the moment he found out:
I had frittered away all my cash on shoes, cigarettes and cosmopolitan cocktails,
I didn't own one practical item of clothing
i was 30 and had one chair to sit on in my house and kept sweaters in my oven.
That I would kick off every time he forgot to display affection or ownership of me, resembling that of a "Love is...." cartoon.

She even went into a big massive huff when Aiden bought her a new Apple laptop when her old laptop died and she had forgotten to back up any of her writing. She really was an ungrateful, self centred twat.

I only watched because Big gave me the horn. I can think of lots of dirty things to do with him. Get that fix from Good Wife now.

Ps yanbu about CB, I had a mate years back who was very like her, even looks wise. When I watched Carrie, I just saw my pal.

TheCrackFox, that one really annoyed me, ungrateful cow.

I do love the moment where she's yelling at Big and Aiden, as they're rolling around in the mud fighting, "YOU'RE MIDDLE-AGED!!"

Although a very pot/kettle moment as her own immaturity and selfishness created the whole situation.

I LOVE Sarah JP, so I love the character too. She was so popular because she is extremely typical of NY, and to an extent London too, lots of whiney, needy, somewhat screwed-up single people there but she is NOT shallow and has excellent taste, so stands out as better than most! come on, she is a poetic soul, poets are often self absorbed, but she's not dull.
The seriers were actually very good as the u covered EVERY aspect of sexual and emotional relationship, no stone unturned as never before. The fact htat she's contradictory with men/independence is spot on about the majority of women on the cusp of 21st cen. It's a classic, wouldn't be so huge if it was bad.

Woody Allen, who I also like, is very much in the same vein - it's NY kind of humour/neuroticism, but again there's soul in there with him.

Don't get me started on Woody Allen!

Oh God I hate Woody Allen. Get a farking grip already, you mumbling perverted manchild.

I did love Steve on SATC. Total crush.

But then again I am solidly Midwestern American and we don't do neuroses. :o

Are you Cheerful? Where are you from? I'm from the South but am living in the Midwest for the first time. Everyone does seem very cheerful and practical!

After reading this thread last night I went to bed and that episode when Miranda is trying to breast feed and Carrie gets all embarrassed because she seen her nipple. No support or compassion, just hopped out the door telling Miranda "you're a mum now". Cow!
