to not understand or find 'drunk' threads funny?

ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 04:30

I really don't understand drunk threads....

When I've been out drinking and I get home I either go straight to bed (without taking my make-up off eww) or chuck a pint of water and then go to bed.

I have no effort to do anything, but crash out in bed.

I have to gather the will power to brush my teeth nevermind switching on my laptop and starting a thread. As it really is the furthest thing from my mind.

Also I do realise that people use their phones to start threads. But when I'm out having fun with friends or my partner drinking, thats generally exactly what I'm doing. I don't think - hang on a second and whip my phone out and start a thread on mumsnet.

And I just don't find posts such as -

weifjwp uwrh fvh i ma soooooo durnk!!! wefpwehf

Funny.

Aibu?

So don't read them.

MrsRhettButler · 01/01/2013 04:37

^^ that.

Moominsarescary · 01/01/2013 04:38

How do you know they've been out drinking with friends? They could be sat at home drinking on their own feeling fucking miserable

TanteRose · 01/01/2013 04:38

Happy New Year, OP you miseryguts

It's all in good fun

NettoHoHoHoSuperstar · 01/01/2013 04:41

I drink at home, so post on here.
I can usually still spell though, I'm not that drunk, just tipsy.
Not drinking tonight, unless you count tea/hot choc.
I as in bed at 9, asleep half an hour later but the stupid cat woke me up yowling at 1ish and I've been up ever since.

ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 04:45

I just know that when I'm the point where I can't even spell properly starting a thread on mumsnet is the furthest thing from my mind.

I'm not a miseryguts. I just find it odd.

If you are drinking at home alone why not text your friends? etc.

OP posts:
ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 04:46

And expat you don't even have to read the thread, the title alone is pretty obvious.

expatinscotland · 01/01/2013 04:48

You sound like a mean, nasty drunk, tbh.

So go to bed.

Why scold others?

ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 04:48

TanteRose just because I don't find something funny that doesn't make me a 'miseryguts'

I'm sure there are things I find hilarious that you wouldn't. So therefore for that fact I can label you as a miseryguts - No.

If you think aibu fine. But try and keep it a level where you're not hurling personal insults.

OP posts:
ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 04:51

Seriously expat again disagree with me, but why the need to take it to such a childish level as to name call and throw out personal insults.

I know aibu isn't the nicest part the forum, but surely people can disagree and put their point across like an adult instead of childish name calling.

OP posts:
Moominsarescary · 01/01/2013 04:52

How do you know they have friends to text?

ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 04:56

Ok Moonmin obviously I stand corrected. There are exceptions.

If you don't have friends/family in your life and you use mumsnet for support then yes you might post when drunk as you would send a text to a friend.

But on the whole if you're coming home after a night of drinking with friends etc then I just don't understand why it pops into people heads that they need to start a thread on mumsnet about it?

Mumsnet isn't on my mind. My bed is generally the only thing on my mind.

OP posts:
curiousuze · 01/01/2013 04:56

Maybe the people posting are out drinking with you, scarlettbelle

mathanxiety · 01/01/2013 05:02

Your problem seems to be failure to take into account that other people are not you.

ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 05:08

Lol ok I'm obviously wrong.

If I was in a playground right now I'm sure one of you would be pulling my hair and then tripping me over.

Good luck in the new year ladies. I'm off to start my ER shift ... should be fun!

OP posts:
curiousuze · 01/01/2013 05:12

When I get up for work the last thing on my mind is starting a thread on mumsnet. I really don't understand pre-work threads. I have to gather my strength to clean my teeth never mind switching on my lap top...

ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 05:12

And btw I just wanted to point out that my thread was not aimed at Sole. Who is obviously suffering right now.

It wasn't aimed at anyone.

Anyway I shall continue leaving under this huge cloud whilst you all continue to stone me.

ScarlettBelle · 01/01/2013 05:14

Really curiousuze because I've actually been awake for a good 6 hours now and started this thread with over 2 hours to go before work.

Enjoy 2013.

curiousuze · 01/01/2013 05:17

Whoosh!

TanteRose · 01/01/2013 05:31

Grin at curious

cynner · 01/01/2013 07:58

Just out of curiosity....why do you care if someone drunk posts? Surely, you are not obligated to read any posts that offend your sensibilities..

BrianButterfield · 01/01/2013 08:07

I constantly have a tablet or phone to hand. I automatically check MN, Fb, Gmail a few times a day (takes seconds) and post whenever and wherever; on the train home, while getting ready for bed, waiting for the kettle to boil...it's not like people have to boot up a desktop and wait five minutes for the dial-up to connect any more! It's just tap, tap, tap to fill in a few seconds of 'dead time' usually.

This is why I hate those "well, if I were (x, y, z) I wouldn't even THINK about Mumsnet. " comments. Where's the thinking? Phone/tablet out, press icon, glance at threads...it's hardly activating the mainframe and pulling out a stack of punchcards while the kids run feral in the other room.

katykuns · 01/01/2013 08:08

YANBU
only if they are like 'omgggg I'm soooo drunk pahaha' type threads. It's just... boring really. Most of these people tend to be on my facebook though, if they are on here I have missed them.

Tee2072Thing · 01/01/2013 08:18

Exactly Brian. I don't understand people who aren't updating FB/Twitter/MN every few minutes. What else do you do while you're doing boring stuff that needs to be done?

The advantage of the modern age is that we don't have a life of drudgery. Our drudgery things, i.e. folding laundry, can be broken up by the internet.

BellaVita · 01/01/2013 08:35

You sound really lovely Scarlett.
