I tried cutting my own and storing them in bags... it was not a rewarding task AND all my ice-cream tasted of onion after a few days >.<

WHYYYYY SAINSBURY'S?! Or is it just Norwich that is evil? I can't find it on the online system or in the store...

They're pre-chopped. Done by the supermarket before you got them home. Ordinarily you'd have chopped them for dinner, but in this case, it's been done earlier, or previously.

WelshMaenad · 08/11/2012 16:47

I can confirm they still have frozen onion in Pontypridd Sainsburys, I got done this morning. And some toasted Mediterranean veg for pasta. Nom.

Callmecordelia · 08/11/2012 16:49

I know, I know. 'Tis pure laziness.

They are very nice when pushed for time at end of the day.

weegiemum · 08/11/2012 16:50

I buy chopped onions. I've got a disability that severely limits the use of my hands. I can chop almost anything else but onions are slippery and if I cut myself I don't feel it because I've to sensation in my fingers.

Buying chopped onion is cheaper than paying someone to chop them for me! I usually get them in the co-op (local shop) for 50p in the fresh veg section (often reduced, last time they were 10p so I bought all they had and froze!)

I'd never judge anyone for this. Who knows what's more important than chopping!

I buy frozen chopped onions and sometimes I buy grated cheese Shock!!!

OnlyWantsOne · 08/11/2012 17:46

Oh no pre grated cheese is SHITE powdery crap

squoosh · 08/11/2012 17:48

Pre grated parmesan comes from actual jock straps and manky socks.

germyrabbit · 08/11/2012 17:48

i used to buy packets of dried onion, can't seem to find them either

squoosh · 08/11/2012 17:49

Sainsbury's do dried onions, so do Ikea. They're quite yummy.

anklebitersmum · 08/11/2012 17:50

ewwwwwww squoosh

anklebitersmum · 08/11/2012 17:51

(parmesan related)

dexter73 · 08/11/2012 17:59

Not parmesan - cheddar!

BrandyAlexander · 08/11/2012 18:25

Sainsbury's freshly grated parmesan cheese just.makes.sense. Grated cheddar cheese? No. Just no. Grin

skiesmylimit · 08/11/2012 18:27

Would it be bad for me to admit that I buy frozen chopped veg? Couliflour and broccoli? Or is that acceptable?

Everytime I buy fresh, half ends up in bin because only me and DSs eat it. DH refuses.

OnwardBound · 08/11/2012 18:56

I can't get frozen onions or frozen mushrooms anymore in my local Sainsburys.

I want them back!

The frozen mushrooms taste like wild mushrooms and are lovely in pasta.

crazyhatlady · 08/11/2012 19:23

I make 10 litres of soup a day, frozen veg is my saviour, especially onions, my eyes can't handle the fresh ones. You can get frozen sliced onions in farmfoods but that might just be Scotland!

Casserole · 08/11/2012 19:24

I tell you what else I miss. Ready peeled potatoes.
They were brilliant.

CaliforniaLeaving · 08/11/2012 19:32

Grated cheese has saved my knuckles, I hate grating anything.
I have never heard of ready peeled potatoes, don't they go all brown around the edges?

SugaricePlumFairy · 08/11/2012 19:40

Sorry but my love of frozen 'just chuck it in the pan cos it's done' does not extend to ready peeled potatoes Shock .

squoosh · 08/11/2012 19:47

Do ready peeled potatoes not get soggy in the freezer?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/11/2012 19:48

Crazyhatlady - I have to ask what you are doing with 10 litres of soup a day - bathing in it? WinkGrin

DigestivesWithCheese · 08/11/2012 20:41

Where do you buy frozen peppers and garlic? Does the garlic taste exactly the same in sauces? This could be a whole new world for me... [excited]

Freshbloodletticia · 08/11/2012 21:30

Jesus, no wonder this country is in a crisis when folks are TOO FECKIN' TO CHOP AN ONION.
