I have just started back at work, and my 9mnth old is still not sleeping through. We have started controlled crying but it wakes her sister in the adjoining room.

I am getting a bit desperate. AIBU to move her into the bathroom for a few nights while we go through the controlled crying journey (battle...)

My husband seems to think its child cruelty.... I just think its practical solution for everyone to get more sleep in the long run.

Would you want to sleep in a bathroom,I don't think I would.

Its not cold. We have heating in there I can put on. Its not ideal but having the entire house awake at 3am isn't either.

I wouldn't, don't think the damp of a bathroom would be good for her chest.

What a strange idea! If controlled crying doesn't work for your household set up, try something different.

Or put her in the garden?

Give it a few nights and your other DD will get used to it . I don't think you should put her in the bathroom.

My children have both slept in the bathroom from time to time. Also the lobby. I don't think YABU.

Seems like a good practical solution to me. Until you need a bath of course.

Have you ever sung in the shower? Surely the acoustics in a bathroom mean her crying is going to wake the street never mind the household!

The noise in a tiled room will be so much worse than any other in the house. My DS sounded so loud when i first put him in his bedroom which has metal blinds, wooden floor and painted walls (instead of wallpaper).

YANBU when dd1 and ds were younger the bathroom was the only other room so I did something similar. It was also their playroom and naughty spot at times.

Their chests are and were fine.

You must have a huge bathroom! Mine would never fit a cot. For hygiene purposes I would not put her in the bathroom.

Can you perhaps adjust bedtime so the crying takes place when your older child is in deep sleep mode?

I'd be scared of poo particles.

And I think the acoustics might be a point too..

Are there other options? At the moment I am sleeping in the front room while DD2 sleeps (or not) in my bedroom, while I do sleep training. Again, so as not to wake DD1.

Wouldn't it just confuse her? Waking up in a strange room is likely to bring on more crying. Also, when you move her back to her bedroom that'll be different again. I wouldn't do it myself but then our bathroom is the coldest and most echo-y room in the house so it really wouldn't work for me.

Could your other dc sleep in with you for a few days ?

Or dd1 could have ur bed and you and ur dh sleep on sofa bed/air bed for a week?
