To dislike 'yummy mummy' bags?

Several of my friends have changing bags that cost nearly £80 that is embroidered with 'yummy mummy'. www.johnlewis.com/231429259/Product.aspx

To my understanding, the use of 'yummy' in this context means attractive. I wouldn't want to carry round a statement that basically means your only aim in life is to look good whilst pushing a pram?

I'm not miserable {really} and I get out plenty and have a life Hmm

However, I have a total aversion to any "y" words, and the term Yummy Mummy is so awful, that anyone who uses it, or thinks it's cute or fun is not someone whose opinions I would be interested in.

As someone upthread said, the people this bag would appeal to will be the same ones who have princesses, no doubt l'il men, and will count days in terms of "sleeps to"

But, each to their own, if it floats their fluffy little boats, then go for it

Can I get a TerribleCuntMum nappy bag?

Love it. Forget Mulberry, T.C.M will be the new It bag

roundtable · 12/09/2012 21:55

Ooh amithatbad, you sound like one of the female lawyers in legally blonde Grin

trixie123 · 12/09/2012 21:59

I'm liking the idea of a mumsnet bag; maybe it could have all the abbreviations on it; AIBU, DP, DMIL, IYSWIM, IMHO, HTH etc and then on the other side it could have "meh" and "its a phase" or "this too shall pass". Maybe there could be a little flap that you could open to reveal "Did you mean to be so rude?" or in extreme circumstances "fuck the fuck off and when you get there, fuck off some more" which is my favourite mn phrase Grin. Its possible I may be getting carried away now so I'll stop!

Aboutlastnight · 12/09/2012 22:00

I don't know what you can't just use a normal bag.

Thst's what I did.

Yummy mummy Hmm

Aboutlastnight · 12/09/2012 22:01

I'd love one with Meh! Grin

bringmesunshine2009 · 12/09/2012 22:03

I am not a fan. My friend has one. I restrain myself from dissing it. Cath kidston oil cloth polka dot are lovely. Gavel.

AmIthatbad · 12/09/2012 22:04

Grin roundtable maybe I do. But you know how we all have those words that trigger irrational reactions in us all - see numerous threads. Well Yum or Yummy actually make my fists ball up with annoyance.

And anyone that uses them is fair game.

I've even been on the receiving end of the famous "Did you mean to sound so rude", when I had to post and flee on a good thread, because too many people were posting yum".

And for the record, yes, I did mean to sound so rude Grin

Ugly bag and narcissistic slogan.

On a related theme of narcissistic slogans, i saw a teenager wearing a sweatshirt emblazoned with the logo 'Model'.....tried to conceal my scepticism

Xmasbaby11 · 12/09/2012 22:07

I don't like the term much either although I don't hate the bag as much as baby clothes with slogans like 'I love my mummy'. Puke.

PretzelTime · 12/09/2012 22:13

I don't understand clothing etc with such slogans on at all.
Why do people like them? In a not ironic way?

modifiedmum · 12/09/2012 22:14

I like the bag but not the yummy mummy as i am deffo not a yummy mummy for a start and the phrase makes me die a little inside.

beautyguru · 12/09/2012 22:15

Hehehe, these posts have really made me laugh!! Glad I'm not the only one to think these bags are awful!! And Trixie...I love your bag idea..think you should go into production!!!

roundtable · 12/09/2012 22:17

PretzelTime · 12/09/2012 22:33

There is one word that is worse than yummy, and that word is yummie

panicnotanymore · 12/09/2012 22:42

Is it not tongue in cheek? I thought it was tongue in cheek.... I obviously know nothing.

I don't have one. I may start my own line of 'geriatric mummy' girdles though. They'd sell well round here.

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 12/09/2012 22:47

Scummy Mummy written in biro on an ASDA bag is more my style.
