To dislike 'yummy mummy' bags?

Several of my friends have changing bags that cost nearly £80 that is embroidered with 'yummy mummy'. www.johnlewis.com/231429259/Product.aspx

To my understanding, the use of 'yummy' in this context means attractive. I wouldn't want to carry round a statement that basically means your only aim in life is to look good whilst pushing a pram?

I always thought Yummy Mummy was the brand. I just like the style of some of the bags. Other were fucking awful not as nice- just like most makes of things. I never knew it meant the Mum was Yummy.

Fakebook · 12/09/2012 18:27

What if you're not a "yummy" mummy and look hideous and you go around carrying the bag? How embarrassing.

PurpleAndPoppyWearer · 12/09/2012 18:36

I like the suggestion of an "Ugly Munter" range. Grin

Driftwood999 · 12/09/2012 18:39

Cost of materials to make that bag is approx £4.99. Go figure.

Clytaemnestra · 12/09/2012 18:39

I had two of them. Who on earth would be close enough to read the slogan but me anyway? It's not like it's a sign round your neck, the type is about 1 cm high.

TheCountessOlenska · 12/09/2012 18:44

The yummy mummy logo is not even the worst bit of that bag! Hideous. I quite like the spotty Cath Kidson ones though, even though they are ubiquitous round my way.

I just shove nappies under the buggy Confused

PeshwariNaan · 12/09/2012 18:45

YANBU. Barf. They're hideous.

GoldShip · 12/09/2012 19:14

Don't like them but it doesn't bother me other people having them.

LucieMay · 12/09/2012 19:17

Ew that is vile and that particular phrase makes me want to puke but each to their own, we don't all like the same things!

pumpkinsweetie · 12/09/2012 19:17

They don't look worth £80 tbh

WineGoggles · 12/09/2012 19:38

YANBU. It's an ugly, overpriced, tacky bag. I hate logos and slogans too.

MrsCarriePooter · 12/09/2012 19:47

YANBU - they are so twee they make my teeth ache. The bag equivalent of a back shelf full of fwuffy bwunnykins and a "Princess on Board" sign in your car.

Having said that, the only person I know with one is the most down to earth lovely non "yummy mummy" esque airhead I know. I never dared ask her if it was a gift or not. Maybe she's just too sensible to judge someone because of their changing bag unlike me.

LurkeyLurkerson · 12/09/2012 19:48

Meh, I have one. Although to be fair mine says 'mama et bébé' on it, not Yummy mummy. I like it, it has many a pocket! And DH is happy to walk around with it, he couldn't give a crap that it's girly Grin

TheBigJessie · 12/09/2012 19:52

I want a scruffy mummy bag.

Bearcrumble · 12/09/2012 19:54

YANBU - I hate them, so naff, so twee, so annoying.

Francagoestohollywood · 12/09/2012 19:59

Yanbu, plus I look suspiciously at any changing bag.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 12/09/2012 20:02

You are a right load of bitchy fuckers. There'd be a huge market for bags with that written on Hmm

Bearcrumble · 12/09/2012 20:03

Yeah, I always took nappies/wipes/nappy bags/a muslin in a carrier bag stuffed under the pushchair. The bags take up more space than their contents.

Now I have a possetty 5-month old who needs regular clothes changes and a half-potty-trained two year old I have to cart around a hell of a lot more crap.

Newtothisstuff · 12/09/2012 20:08

Miserable bunch you lot !!! I've got one, I'm not a munter or a chav. They are really useful bags, get a lot of use and are nice to look at !!
You lot need to get out more

MrsKeithRichards · 12/09/2012 20:10

They do smack of first time mummy!

TheLazyGirlBlog · 12/09/2012 20:15

No, not a fan, perhaps cos I'm so not a Yummy Mummy. I carried around a big ol' white vintage bag in protest at "proper" changing bags. Surely that just means you have to brush your hair, put on make up and not have tops which are baggy with age when you carry it?

What's next, bags with MILF on them? Hmm

Francagoestohollywood · 12/09/2012 20:20

Lol @ MrsKeithRichards

StateofConfusion · 12/09/2012 20:20

I think they're vile, ditch the slogan and I might look at them, someone I went to college with has just got one, and has told people daily on facebook.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 12/09/2012 20:22

I had one, and a ltd edition bugaboo. I'm chavvy clearly. Dilligaf?

tattyteddy · 12/09/2012 20:22

I agree with newtothisstuff, I've got one of the bags, and I love mine. My dh got it for me. I think it had loads of space and pockets to keep stuff tidy, I've had mine to year and half and it's lasted really well. Not a chav or mounter either Grin
