To dislike 'yummy mummy' bags?

Several of my friends have changing bags that cost nearly £80 that is embroidered with 'yummy mummy'. www.johnlewis.com/231429259/Product.aspx

To my understanding, the use of 'yummy' in this context means attractive. I wouldn't want to carry round a statement that basically means your only aim in life is to look good whilst pushing a pram?

NOt seen one before but from the link they look vile!

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 12/09/2012 17:39

nope even at uni is too old if you're not halls age! (i.e. first year, 18/19)
by second year even straight from schoolers generally realise how naff it is and get rid of them plus their bob marley poster!

PretzelTime · 12/09/2012 17:43

YANBU
And yum...-I can't bear myself to type it - is such a odd childish term!

germyrabbit · 12/09/2012 17:46

that is a foul bag and now it keeps popping up on my hotmail site!

OwlLady · 12/09/2012 17:48

I just used a carrier bag

crashdollGOLD · 12/09/2012 17:48

"Yummy mummy" aside, I do not like that bad at all!

Glittertwins · 12/09/2012 17:49

I personally don't like the slogan on it even though my SkipHop bag was almost the same price. DH would have looked a prize idiot with a yummy mummy bag!

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 12/09/2012 17:52

without the slogan it just looks like something from Claires

MrsApplepants · 12/09/2012 17:54

Vile. Even without the slogan

SunflowersSmile · 12/09/2012 17:58

People would laugh if I had one- false advertising. Wish I was 'yummy' mind you....

trixie123 · 12/09/2012 18:00

sorry, I liked mine and it stood up to 3 years of daily use. If they made MILF one's I would have got that instead though Wink

FrancesFarmer · 12/09/2012 18:00

Ya absolutely NBU.

They're hideous from a design point of view and I can't understand why anyone would identify with such a patronizing term.

Longtalljosie · 12/09/2012 18:00

I wouldn't buy it because it would be unreasonable to make DH carry it around. Sensible mothers buy unisex nappy bags!

trixie123 · 12/09/2012 18:01

Also mine was about £55, not £80. Not bad for something that got used for about 1000 days.

peggyblackett · 12/09/2012 18:02

They are truly hideous

Bellyjaby · 12/09/2012 18:04

I think the bags themselves look quite nice and a decent size, I just can't stand the slogan.

Also one of the few things my OH put his foot down on was that we had to get a changing bag he could also go out with. This definitely does not fit that description!

katkouta · 12/09/2012 18:04

YANBU horrible twee shite.

ErikNorseman · 12/09/2012 18:04

Yanbu they are foul. And yummy mummy is the most cringy expression in the world.

Softlysoftly · 12/09/2012 18:04

id be done by trading standards at the moment

ontheedgeofwhatever · 12/09/2012 18:10

YANBU - so many nappy bags make you look like you're carrying a nursery about. We're grown women (and men) and don't need bags that look like they were designed with a four year old in mind (sorry just my opinion lots of people probably think i'm boring because I've got a nappy bag that looks like a proper handbag )

thekidsarealright · 12/09/2012 18:14

I like them. I presumed the Yummy Mummy bit was the brand, in which case I didn't think it was in reference to who was carrying it. I actually don't care enough though nor am I such a judgey snob that I would think "she's not pretty/nice enough to yummy".... Hmm

EasilyBored · 12/09/2012 18:19

I don't think it looks particularly practical, but it's not hideous either. I got a grey satchel 'paternity bag' since we both have to use it although I would have preferred a girly floral Kidtson number and it cost about £70. But I use it every single day, and will do until DS is out of nappies I suppose, so it's pretty good value in terms of price per use. It's sturdy too.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 12/09/2012 18:21

I like it.

CatPower · 12/09/2012 18:22

Ugly, ugly, tacky, horrible bag.

CatPower · 12/09/2012 18:23

"Ooh, I'm so yummy I have to wear a bag branding me as a yummy mummy to show it - and look at my yummy twee-as-fuck cupcake too!"

We need a vomit smiley.
