. . . to wonder if baby Blanche was ever born?

There was a thread a few months ago about a woman who got to choose their first born's name under the proviso that her husband could name any future daughter Blanche, after his grandmother I think.

She was then outraged that he expected her to stick to her word and agree to call their daughter Blanche.

Does anyone know what happened. She got her knickers in a big knotty twist when people sided with her husband.

I remember that one,it was one of the first AIBU threads I read on here Grin. Jes come back that woman and tell us what happened.

sugarice · 26/07/2012 15:40

Yes not jes.

Rilson · 26/07/2012 15:44

I remember that one Grin Wasnt the son called Jacob because its what she wanted, then she was expecting the girl AKA Blanche

TheSurgeonsMate · 26/07/2012 15:46

Over the course of the thread MNers came around and began to love the name Blanche. But I don't remember the OP keeping us informed of how her feelings were developing.

jamdonut · 26/07/2012 15:47

I remember. I'd be interested to know too! Grin

Moominsarescary · 26/07/2012 15:50

I remember, yes her ds was Jacob. Her dh really disliked the name but she used it any way

AThingInYourLife · 26/07/2012 15:50

Oh yeah, that was a great thread.

I was thinking about the name Blanche approvingly the other day, but had forgotten where my affection for the name originated :o

Novia · 26/07/2012 15:51

Didn't see the thread, but I'm in exactly the same situation! DH mentioned a (horrendous) name early in our relationship he'd always dreamt of using for his first son. In the first flush of love (and not really thinking it through or realising he meant it) I agreed. Now 3 years later we are married and TTC and I am praying that it will be a girl!!! Grin

ChaoticismyLife · 26/07/2012 15:51

I remember that one Grin Would love to know how it turned out.

Moominsarescary · 26/07/2012 15:52

here

Kayano · 26/07/2012 15:53

Novia... What is the name?!

AThingInYourLife · 26/07/2012 15:54

Novia - there's no way he can hold you to that.

squoosh · 26/07/2012 15:54

Ah but that's different Novia, you haven't said 'Yes you can use that name but only if I can call another child Sparkly Unicorn/spend the night with Ryan Gosling/tell your mother I hate her/. . . . . '

You can say you only agreed under circumstances of temporary insanity, which is what the fist flush of love is really Grin

Moominsarescary · 26/07/2012 15:54

Looks like that was the only thread op posted on with that name, we will probably never know

squoosh · 26/07/2012 15:55

Ha! fiRst flush.

fist flush is a completely different thread!

Novia · 26/07/2012 15:56

No - I'm here! I've posted before (though not lots admittedly!)

I'm sorry guys - it's BEYOND horrendous and my DH is absolutely inflexible on the issue...!

...Ayrton!

sobs...!

sugarice · 26/07/2012 15:57

I would hazard a guess and say that JakeyMom didn't call her Blanche, probably threw a ma-hoo-sive strop and called her...........oh I don't know, what goes with Jacob?

Kayano · 26/07/2012 15:57

I'm with your DH Novia... Fabulous name!!!

Blush sorry!

squoosh · 26/07/2012 15:58

He can't be inflexible, that's not allowed!

Naming a child is a joint process not a contest to see who can be most obstinate. Does his attitude not piss you off, like really, really piss you off?

Novia in tribute to Senna?

Novia · 26/07/2012 16:00

Yep sugarice, he's Spanish and a Grand Prix geek.

The worse thing is that I agreed thinking it was Spanish (fair enough, goes with the surname) and only this year realised it's Brazilian - so even his family think he's nuts and it's a weird name.

Poor (future, currently imaginary) kid!

Kayano · 26/07/2012 16:01

I am in this situation but in reverse.

DH named our first dd and I get the next one.

We are having a Jenson or an Eden

He hates both WinkGrin

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 26/07/2012 16:02

He can't be inflexible Novia! It's your baby too!

Novia · 26/07/2012 16:03

squoosh - the problem is that I promised! At the time I nodded and smiled thinking "we'll never last!" Blush

Ariel24 · 26/07/2012 16:04

Oh Novia I feel for you, my husband wanted Ayrton too. I told him I would allow Lewis after Hamilton and he was happy with that luckily.

But we are having a girl Smile
