To complain if a YHA posts pictures of beef tortilla on my facebook wall (I am a vegetarian)

This morning when I checked into my facebook wall a large picture of a beef tortilla was posted on it from a Youth hostel. I am friends with this YouthHostel having stayed there with family some years ago and had a lovely time. I go because it (and others) are self catering and outdooorsy) I felt sick- I am a hindu vegetaria. I asked the hostelmanager to remove the picture from my wall but instead the hostel defriended me 'for my own protection' AM I unreasonable to think a youth hostelling association should stick to pictures of the outdoors and hostel events and avoid posting stuff which could upset people of different cultures?

hairylemon · 13/07/2012 20:18

Burger me is this still going?

BupcakesandCunting · 13/07/2012 20:18

"Obviously I hid it.
More room at the YHA for beef lovers in future."

OlympicRingSting · 13/07/2012 20:18

Don't mince your words now. I'd give them a right grilling. All form an orderly Bar b queue now, all you beef lovers

BupcakesandCunting · 13/07/2012 20:19

I think that OP needs to kick the YHA right in the rump.

LadyBeagleEyes · 13/07/2012 20:20

Was it a particular youth hostel OP, or just the YHA in general?

hairylemon · 13/07/2012 20:20

These meat puns are rib tickling

quoteunquote · 13/07/2012 20:23

having spent most of my childhood munro bagging,

I find this thread really funny, because the YHA were always full of vegan / vegetarian Quakers, probable still are,

this is a fantastic YHA, a must on anyone listalec guinness loved it.

squeakytoy · 13/07/2012 20:23

please tell me how a photo of a beef tortilla made you feel threatened and vulnerable... it wasnt going to jump out of your computer and say moo to you!

OlympicRingSting · 13/07/2012 20:23

What do you do if a Tesco delivery van goes past you with a picture of Beef on the side? Jump behind a hedge? Ocado vans seem to be wholly vegetarian... Although that may upset some Hindu Jains (only eat things grown above ground)

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 13/07/2012 20:24

I think they defriended you because they are Mexican and felt you insulted their culture.

OlympicRingSting · 13/07/2012 20:27

I hope this weather isn't too chilli for people out hosteling this weekend...

RubyGates · 13/07/2012 20:27

Ooooh, now this looks nice:
www.facebook.com/YHALeeValley
And it's just down the road from me. Thanks OP for alerting me to its existence Grin

TicketToHull · 13/07/2012 20:30

Is this one of those "testing out an analogy" threads?

BupcakesandCunting · 13/07/2012 20:30

If it is muddy, I hope that the hostelers have remembered to pack their beef wellingtons.

squeakytoy · 13/07/2012 20:32

Well if they havent it might be beef curtains...

BupcakesandCunting · 13/07/2012 20:34

Don't skirt around the issue, OP.

confusedpixie · 13/07/2012 20:36

Thanks for the Lee Valley link Ruby, it's just down the road from the whitewater centre Grin

I wish I could come up with some meat puns, this thread is entertaining!

BupcakesandCunting · 13/07/2012 20:38

Ooh that hostel looks lovely, Ruby. Only downside is that there's bunk-beds and we'd row over who sleeps on the topside.

squeakytoy · 13/07/2012 20:40

Must be a bloody nightmare if the maccy d's truck goes past.. the size of that burger on there!

MoonlightandRoses · 13/07/2012 20:42

Grin - for the otherwise comment - it's possible the OP may have referred to Urban Dictionary for beef tortilla 'recipes' . Can't see the YHA using any of them myself but, you never know - maybe it was an 'alternative' venue?

[Not quite as mad as the Shazzers threads, but mildly amusing for a Friday with Wine ]

WorraLiberty · 13/07/2012 20:43

Nice on OP, you picked the right nickname!

sabbby82 · 13/07/2012 20:47

Best thread ever!! Having a right giggle!
How do you watch any tv? What if an add for 'old el paso' comes on?

OlympicRingSting · 13/07/2012 20:52

It's not the hostel near the Tower of London is it? They have Beefeaters and beeflovers there...

funnyperson · 13/07/2012 20:54

Have discovered I can delete newsfeed without unfriending. It was a particular hostel so no need to unfriend the lot.
Hope everyone else is enjoying their laugh.
