To complain if a YHA posts pictures of beef tortilla on my facebook wall (I am a vegetarian)

This morning when I checked into my facebook wall a large picture of a beef tortilla was posted on it from a Youth hostel. I am friends with this YouthHostel having stayed there with family some years ago and had a lovely time. I go because it (and others) are self catering and outdooorsy) I felt sick- I am a hindu vegetaria. I asked the hostelmanager to remove the picture from my wall but instead the hostel defriended me 'for my own protection' AM I unreasonable to think a youth hostelling association should stick to pictures of the outdoors and hostel events and avoid posting stuff which could upset people of different cultures?

If you are being serious I think you may need to talk about this with someone in real life

mumblecrumble · 13/07/2012 19:00

Just hide it.

It would be just as easy for me to say that as I am not Hindu it offended me that it was part of the subject of this thread.

But I am not becasue that would be rediculous

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/07/2012 19:02

YABU. Why didn't you just hide it?

manicbmc · 13/07/2012 19:02

There was a vegan on Come Dine with Me the other week. In every other bloody sentence she mentioned her veganism in a smug and self-satisfied way. It's the first time I have turned it off.

If you aren't being funny, funnyperson, then you are a very intolerant person. Many people choose to eat meat. I have no problems with pictures of vegetables.

If it had been a graphic picture of raw meat, then you might have a point but it was cooked and mince looks like no animal I have ever seen.

Sillyperson, not funny.

confusedpixie · 13/07/2012 19:02

This is a joke isn't it? You're mad. And on your wall? Are you sure it wasn't a generic post on their page? They don't have time to go around posting on everybody's wall surely?!

And I still think you're mad. I say that as a vegetarian.

knowitallstrikesagain · 13/07/2012 19:03

Well I think they only want a certain kind of person at their youth hostel ie beef loving

Now it is clear this is a wind up Grin

Beef-loving?

WhyAlwaysBoris · 13/07/2012 19:03

Good Grief, if this is the only think you've got to worry about I say lucky, lucky, you.

funnyperson · 13/07/2012 19:03

Obviously I hid it.
More room at the YHA for beef lovers in future.

SoupDragon · 13/07/2012 19:04

What other things do you want people not to mention in case they offend you?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 13/07/2012 19:04

I don't suppose they mind, to be honest.

I would be concerned about sharing a dorm with you in case I offended you in some way. Do they still have dorms?

funnyperson · 13/07/2012 19:06

They dont mind at all. They dont want 'mad' people in their YHA who dont fit in with their ideas do they?

OP posts:
funnyperson · 13/07/2012 19:07

Its me who minds. Thats the point.

SoupDragon · 13/07/2012 19:07

Are you going to answer me or are you offended by Dragons? It's not beef soup if that makes a difference.

CatPower · 13/07/2012 19:07

This is almost as good as the after dinner hedgehog-cam thread.

If, and I really do mean if, this is serious, you really need to stop being so precious and learn to be more tolerant of the world and all its many differences.

tucks into steak

manicbmc · 13/07/2012 19:07

How do you ever manage to get around a supermarket without being horrifically offended?

EverybodysDoeEyed · 13/07/2012 19:08

Their idea that some people like beef? I don't think they force feed you one on arrival!

And why on earth do you think yha is about the great outdoors? They have loads in cities. Would you be offended if they sent a photo of a tower block??

storminabuttercup · 13/07/2012 19:10

Would it offend you if they posted a Biscuit ?

funnyperson · 13/07/2012 19:11

soupdragon I wouldnt usually be 'friends' with something likely to cause me offence and (surprise) I am not easily offended.

quoteunquote · 13/07/2012 19:11

They dont want 'mad' people in their YHA who dont fit in with their ideas do they?

no one who has ever been in a youth hostel could ever say that with a straight face.

Shullbit · 13/07/2012 19:12

How frigging DARE they advertise what they sell. They should always converse with you, OP, before posting anything.

Sue the bastards.

dawntigga · 13/07/2012 19:13

FFS get a grip

YouHaveNoRightToNeverBeOffendedTiggaxx

SoupDragon · 13/07/2012 19:15

That doesn't really answer anything does it?

Clearly you are easily offended if something this stupid offends you.

You are living in a multicultural society. You ned to deal with that, not expect people to tip toe round in case they offend someone.

fizzyapples · 13/07/2012 19:16

Mmm, sounds delicious. Don't suppose you jotted the recipe down before you deleted it did you?

HumphreyCushion · 13/07/2012 19:17

"Well I think they only want a certain kind of person at their youth hostel ie beef loving".

Ah, so you have an agenda?
It seems you are the only one buying in to it though.

Honestly, your indignation is just coming across as a bit daft.
The thing that you are so massively offended about could have been removed from your vision by simply clicking the ignore button!

So, don't stay at that YH again.
Meh.

Posterofapombear · 13/07/2012 19:17

There was nothing even faintly rude on my google search Sad

I'm scared this might be a serious thread.
