Has she got all her photos accessible for everyone to see? Doesn't excuse what he's written obviously but I think she should have the security settings looked at

Tiddlyompompom · 26/05/2012 20:40

Def take a screenshot before reporting/deleting the comment, that's horrendous. If you report him to Facebook he may get his account suspended, I bet he didn't consider that. Awful thing to write.
And yes, I would report it to the police, he needs talking to.

I had things like this said to me by a very young colleague years ago, he thought he was hilarious, and I didn't think it was worth bothering HR with - wish I had now.

calm down and stop getting hysterical would be my advice

eh? if someone wrote that to my MIL, they would be having difficulty typing for quite a while, as their fingers would be too sore...

WenTheEternallySurprised · 26/05/2012 20:41

Report him? I'd do a bit more than that. Angry But I you'd rather keep it legal, in which case yes, please encourage MIL to call the police. The abuse alone is a breach of the Public Order Act.

And yes, please do tell the school too.

LowFlyingBirds · 26/05/2012 20:41

Your poor mil. What a nasty little creature, absolutely agree police should b involved.

RabidAnchovy · 26/05/2012 20:42

The child is a friend of the boy who posted the photo of DS1 (last week of school type thing, lots of photos of lots of people)

Nagoo · 26/05/2012 20:42

Teach your MIL what privacy settings are.

squeakytoy · 26/05/2012 20:44

MIL hasnt got a problem with her privacy settings by the sounds of it. She has commented on a photo of her grandson, which was posted by a friend of her grandson, and tagged, so if she is friends with her grandson, it will have come up on her wall. The friend is the one whose security is not set to "friends only", as if it was, the MIL would not have seen the photo.

RabidAnchovy · 26/05/2012 20:44

She posted on a photo that DS1 was tagged in, she is friends with him I think it is because DS1 is friends with the boy who posted the photo and with MIL .

The evil child is also friends with the boy who posted the photo

sooperdooper · 26/05/2012 20:44

The child is a friend of the boy who posted the photo of DS1

So is she friends with DS and that's how they could both see the photo?

Psychopsilocybin · 26/05/2012 20:45

That is vile. Definitely report to the police. Mind you, if he lived down the road from me, I would be making a visit to his mother.

(last part is probably unhelpful)

manicbmc · 26/05/2012 20:45

Definitely report. Put the fear of god into that nasty piece of work.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 26/05/2012 20:46

I can see other peoples photos if some people comment on them. Its not a matter of HER privacy settings (although after this she may want to review them) but whoever posted the photo in the first place so that she could see it.

ENormaSnob · 26/05/2012 20:48

That is fucking sick.

Definitely a police matter IMO.

BlueFergie · 26/05/2012 20:48

Good lord. I don't even like my MIL that much but if someone said something like that to her I'd punch the little shits lights out. Although I'd have to get in line behind her 4 sons.

RabidAnchovy · 26/05/2012 20:48

MIL is friends with DS1 as she lives at other end of country and and so this is how they keep in touch.
I will be speaking to his mother you can be sure of that.

If either of my children spoke to someone like that they would not see the light of day for a long time I can tell you, I have DS1 who is 16 next week and DS2 who is 11 and they would cut off their hands before typing such poison

TidyDancer · 26/05/2012 20:48

God that's disgusting. Definitely report, and make sure you get a screen cap in case it gets deleted.

Ignore lazilou.

LynetteScavo · 26/05/2012 20:49

Report, and print off to show his mother.

valiumredhead · 26/05/2012 20:50

Disgusting but why is she 'friends' with someone she doesn't know? She needs to block him.

ENormaSnob · 26/05/2012 20:50

What kind of twisted, fucked up mind even thinks of that let alone posts it to an old lady? Angry

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 26/05/2012 20:50

look, it really doesnt matter how the MIL does or doesnt know this 15yr old. I would be livid as a parent and as a DIL.

I would take a screenshot, report the post, delete post (ask MIL to do it) and then if the mother of the boy lived near me, I would be popping in to show her/tell her what her son had done and what she was going to do about it.

That said, you have to be prepared for her to shrug her shoulders and do nothing. Angry

valiumredhead · 26/05/2012 20:52

Tbh I would tell the school - if they are anything like ds's school they treat FB threats/problems VERY seriously.
