When I spoke to the police I said I just wanted him spoken to, when they called me they said they were going to speak with him.

Now please just go away and stop stirring up stuff you know nothing about.

Novack - do you not consider his statement as grossly offensive? Or is this sort of language common use in your world?

NovackNGood · 29/05/2012 17:51

It's not for me to judge the child AuntyJ.

"Or is this sort of language common use in your world?" ..Ad hominen

DublinMammy · 29/05/2012 18:50

What a completely horrendous vile little shit.

I hate it when people speak to older people rudely, it must shock them so, and this is really beyond the pale. I am Shock

Glad it's being looked into!

Novack. Seriously. I've started to wonder why you post. Is it to upset people? I really can't see your intentions, because nothing you have to say is ever useful or comforting.

OhNoMyFanjo · 29/05/2012 19:05

It seems to me that it's not suprising children feel this sort of crap is acceptable if adults don't seem to have an issue with it, it's disgusting.

GnomeDePlume · 29/05/2012 19:21

Well done for sticking to your guns RabidAnchovy. You have done absolutely the right thing regarding this. If it were my son who had posted something so vile I would be mortified to the soles of my feet and would want him to face the full consequence of his actions.

I dont buy this whole 'it's out in public so you are fair game' argument. This wasnt biting satire or a witty barb. This was someone writing the rudest things he could think of simply to shock and offend.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 29/05/2012 19:22

I am glad the police spoke to the mother - and pleased that the mother was horrified that her son behaved in such a way. Bollocking ahoy for his dinner this evening! Grin

So many times parents have the 'oh well, boys will be boys' attitude. Sometimes a good telling off and the threat of police is needed.

I hope he is read the riot act on Friday from the police man/lady. This may be a turning point in this boys life. Lets hope so.

MiseryBusiness · 29/05/2012 19:25

It would seem Novack is pissed off that she made a stupid comment on this thread without reading it and is now digging her heals in rather than admintting she should have kept quiet.

I cant think of any other reason for behaving so strangly.

I think Novack loves a good argument, non?

ShakeWhatYourMamaGaveYou · 29/05/2012 19:32

Novack get back in your box. You are getting all over-excited about things you know little about.

OP- good work. You have done the right thing- it's fantastic that the police are going to speak to him.

Clytaemnestra · 29/05/2012 19:46

"Hypothetically speaking you take this to court and the youths lawyer then attempts to prove that MIL does have saggy tits and is then asking her about the last time she had sex. You really want this pursued that much since I don't think any policewoman can force an apology."

You think even a totally incompatent barrister would look at a frail little old lady sitting in the witness stand, in a nice smart little cardigan and pearls and think that the absolute best way to get the jury onside would be to paint the little old lady as a rabid sex maniac who would welcome an invite to be anally raped by a 15 year old boy? Followed by humiliating her by asking questions in court about her breasts?

Unless OP has neglected to tell us that her MILs facebook is akin to an issue of "Readers Wives: OAP special" then I think that the idea that anyone would even think of putting those questions to an OAP in the witness box is a pretty ignorant one.

inabeautifulplace · 29/05/2012 19:48

Who was it that said "With great power comes great responsibility"?

Modern communication methods clearly have great power, allowing all of us instant contact with a huge number of people in a bewildering array of different ways. People seem remarkably slow on the uptake though; almost all of these systems are recordable, traceable and useable as evidence. It seems to me that a great many people have yet to learn their responsibilities in this brave new world. This boy is about to have them taught to him and I hope it makes him grow up a bit. BTW, I also have similar thoughts about those advocating violence towards a 15 year old boy. Strikes me as slightly ironic and a little sad.

CurrySpice · 29/05/2012 19:54

cheerful yank I disagree that Novak hasn't posted anything of use...she's just made me find out what "Ad hominen" means Wink

Apart from that, yep, Novak, you've made yourself look a bit of a tit tbh

OP I am disgusted at what that 15yo put and I'm glad the police and school have taken you seriously. Your poor MiL

DublinMammy · 29/05/2012 20:07

Oh! Does Novak often post such dickish stuff?

thatisall · 29/05/2012 20:08

This IS NOT a waste of police time. Any teenage boy who is thinking those violent thoughts in the direction of an elderly lady and is bold enough to announce them in as public a domain as Facebook, NEEDS SOMEONE TO INTERVENE!

Novak This is not a case of freedom of speech, its a case of nipping in the bud a pattern of behaviour that could result in the big being sexually violent n the future. Im not saying that every teen that says something grotesque will become a sex offender, but surely stepping in now about his attitude, thought process and behaviour will help the child and show his peers that this is unacceptable.

Tiddlyompompom · 29/05/2012 20:17

I'm stunned to come back to this thread and find someone cough cough Novak actually defending this boy!

OP I'm really glad the police have taken this seriously and you're happy with the outcome - it must be a weight off your mind. I hope you can come back and let us know what his mother says when she speaks to you, I wonder what the home consequences of it all will be for him.

OAM2009 · 29/05/2012 20:24

OP, I too am really glad the police are going to speak to this boy. Such horrible things cannot go unchallenged and hopefully now will not go unpunished.

Novack, In fairness to you, I think you have tried to put across the other side of the argument and you have made some well reasoned points.......BUT by your own quote from Peter Tatchell "The law rightly protects us against discrimination, harassment and incitement to violence. It should not be used to protect us from mere insults" - What this boy posted is at least incitement to violence and possibly harassment so by your own words, the law should be involved.

Eglu · 29/05/2012 20:30

Glad to see an update here OP. I read this the other day but my phone wouldn't let me post. I'm glad the police are going to speak to him, and I hope it really scares him.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 29/05/2012 21:44

Exactly, OAM. I can't see Peter Tatchell expecting anyone to turn a blind eye to that boy's threat.

RabidAnchovy · 29/05/2012 22:07

Spoke to MIL tonight, she has had all her settings redone by one of her other grandchildren.

As her grandchildren are all over the country she uses FB to keep in touch with them, she has some living close but the rest are well spread out and I would hate for her to have to stop using FB as she likes to see the photos and so on.

Hopefully she is a little more protected now.

OP posts:
cheesesarnie · 29/05/2012 22:24

hope shes ok.

novack-ofcourse they should have reported it (to everyone that they did and yes he should be criminalised!
how else is he going to learn?

verbally attack someone but its ok because its only words over the internet and hes only a school boy?????

CheerfulYank · 29/05/2012 22:24

Oh, poor lady. It really makes me :( .

I would be incandescently furious and mortified if my son ever thought of saying anything like that to anyone, let alone an older person. As well as worried about his mental health.

MarianneM · 29/05/2012 22:44

Novack - agree with you.

What is truly scary and sickening are the sentiments and vocabulary directed at a CHILD.

MarianneM · 29/05/2012 22:47

...on this thread.

And to call the police on the kid... nice one OP.

I'm sure he's going to really improve as a result of your actions.
