to think that now you can't smoke in public places, you shouldn't really be making your roll-ups in them either?

Recently, I've seen a few people doing this, and it surprised me (and when did so many people switch to roll-ups?).

I don't want to see people fiddling about with tobacco pouches and cigarette papers in coffee shops and restaurants. Obviously, if they could smoke them there then it makes sense, but now it seems to me like going into a cafe and starting to make your own sandwich (with no intention of eating it in there obviously).

AIBU? A friend says I am, because if they did it outside "their tobacco might blow away", which while possibly true, hardly seems a good justification to me.

YABU.... what harm is it doing to you for gods sakes...

BorisJohnsonsHair · 05/05/2012 21:21

YABU - it's harmless.

nancy75 · 05/05/2012 21:22

Seriously? I think you need to get a hobby

Oh do bugger off!

BorisTheBold · 05/05/2012 21:22

Really? Why would this bother you any more than someone fiddling with their phone whilst in a cafe? There are no health risks to other people and your friend is correct, it's harder to roll up outside if the weather is adverse. Note: I don't smoke rollies.

Booette · 05/05/2012 21:23

YABU. I'm very anti-smoking, but really? What harm is it actually doing? It wouldn't bother me at all.

madmouse · 05/05/2012 21:23

YABvU - and that's coming from an unapologetically rabid anti-smoker.

Rolling tobacco doesn't produce harmful smoke that poisons everyone around you. Leave people roll their fags in peace (and smoke them outside)

By the way, you can make thin roll-ups with less tobacco, so it's cheaper.

rhondajean · 05/05/2012 21:23

People smoke roll ups now because cigarettes are so expensive.

You do realise you are being massively U don't you???

If it offends you that much, don't watch.

RightUpMyRue · 05/05/2012 21:23

YABU.

Sirzy · 05/05/2012 21:23

Nope I can't see the issue at all I am afraid.

Cinny - I agree, the worse is coming out of the hospital and having to walk through a wall of smoke despite the no smoking signs everywhere!

usualsuspect · 05/05/2012 21:24

Oh ffs

EclecticShock · 05/05/2012 21:24

Yabu, that's a ridiculous level of policing. Why do you think you should have that level of control over anyone. It's not harmful to anyone.

ScatterChasse · 05/05/2012 21:24

I don't know, it just seems unnecessary. If they were then going to smoke them there, it would make sense, but since they can't, it seems like they're doing something that isn't a restaurant activity if that makes sense.

It doesn't does it Grin

I suppose it's like if somebody whipped out their knitting in the middle of the meal.

I wonder whether it's a hangover from people doing it when they immediately smoked the cigarette.

ivykaty44 · 05/05/2012 21:25

they smoke rolls ups as it is cheaper than ready made, I think a packet of ready made are abotu 7 pounds a packet?

WorraLiberty · 05/05/2012 21:25

Seeing someone dig their knickers out of their crack in the middle of a restaurant might be a bit off putting.

Rolling a fag...not so much.

sotilltomorrow · 05/05/2012 21:25

I wish my worries were as small as yours.

usualsuspect · 05/05/2012 21:25

Well don't bloody look at them then

Seriously? Confused

Do you have a life at all?

Sirzy · 05/05/2012 21:27

My uncle used to roll a few at once so they where ready. Seems pretty sensible way of doing it if your daft enough to smoke in the first place

I wouldn't have a problem with someone knitting in the middle of a meal either actually, although it may get a bit messy if they are trying to eat and knit!

Victoria3012 · 05/05/2012 21:27

Jesus Christ, I agree with Nancy75, you need a hobby.

usualsuspect · 05/05/2012 21:27
