Or is it because BBT is now and Friends was then? IYKWIM.

Love Big Bang Theory [bugrin]

Have you seen this? A friend posted it on Faceboom yesterday - genius!

fuzzpig · 08/04/2012 16:08

I tend to ignore subtexts in comedy. In RL I am really over-analytical, it is a huge problem, so with telly I take everything at superficial level or I wouldn't enjoy anything!

CinnabarRed · 08/04/2012 16:09

What exactly did Ross do that was so controlling and abusive?

ratspeaker · 08/04/2012 16:11

DD1 has taken the huff with BBT
after this

Guess what she's studying

Sparklingbrook · 08/04/2012 16:11

I don't think Monica is a very nice person. I can cope with the tidiness but the competitiveness and sibling jealousy with Ross is just annoying. I can't see why Chandler fell for her.

I'm wondering the same thing Cinnabar. Only on MN could normal human faults and flaws be called controlling and abusive.

KatieMiddleton · 08/04/2012 16:24

Showy says it best in this thread Her post on 2-Oct-10 at 15:04 really spells it out.

I don't think you can see it happening when watching the first time because it's so gradual - but once you look back at the whole he does look like more than a wee bit controlling and abusive.

I'm not in the habit of calling abuser btw Hmm

CinnabarRed · 08/04/2012 16:27

Oh, I'm not doubting the collective opinion of MN. Just curious about what Ross actually did.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 08/04/2012 16:33

I LOVE BBT. Its one of the only shows I can watch like a teenager i.e. one episode after another for a whole day.

I cannot abide Friends. All those 'in jokes' that they obsess about like the 'ewww the hire care bottle of water' Hmm STFU

The women are just hair on a stick.

BBT is hil air re ous. I love the aspergery stuff cos DS has ASD and I think they do it really well.

There is a MNer who expressed concern about what she thought was racist undertones and I meant to ask her what she meant but I cant remember who it was.

ballroompink · 08/04/2012 16:36

BBT is far better than Friends. I never really 'got' why Friends was supposed to be so amazing and it was never funny. The humour on BBT is more 'my' kind of humour.

HJisoffwork · 08/04/2012 16:44

tribble I sometimes have BBT stuff on FB but no one seems to get it :(

SecretNutellaFix · 08/04/2012 16:47

I love BBT.

I think it's partially because I understand the fanboys they are. Having moved in those circles for years , recognising parts of people you like, and really got on/get on with is hilarious and Penny is a perfect foil.

Posting this link again, because you need to click on it and I'm needy and crave recognition

[bugrin]

Sparklingbrook · 08/04/2012 16:57

Do you have to be a Dr Who fan Cave? I feel a bit thick. Sad

Wheresmylifegone · 08/04/2012 16:58

Love, love, love BBT! My24yr old DS has Asp,and is quite a lot like Sheldon... But by far my favourite scene so far has to be the AFF/Sheldon "It's a tiara - putitonme putitonme!!!" Rofl at that one...!:)

CaveMum · 08/04/2012 16:59

It's a play on the fact that Sheldon, Leonard and Raj have Phd's but Howard "only" has a Masters degree.

(If you're not a Who fan you might not realise that John Simm's character is called The Master)

Sparklingbrook · 08/04/2012 17:00

Oh, I get it now. I have never watched Doctor Who. Grin

OP posts:
Ambi · 08/04/2012 17:01

Agree OP, I liked friends and have seen almost every episode (lost interest in the last few series) but love BBT.

gordyslovesheep · 08/04/2012 17:11

BBT kicks Friends ass - fact

CinnabarRed · 08/04/2012 17:16

MrsDV - the only thing I can think of is Howard's Mum's initial reaction to Bernadette being Catholic rather than Jewish?

tinkertitonk · 08/04/2012 17:38

You are comparing chalk and cheese. Friends is comedy, BBT is documentary.

gnesher · 08/04/2012 18:05

YADNBU Friends is classic 90s rubbish, I can't begin to comprehend why it appears to be so popular. BBT is much better

DodieSmith · 08/04/2012 18:09

BBT is ace!

hattymattie · 08/04/2012 18:21

Love em both but they're totally different and not comparable. At the moment we are totally into BBT although we are also out of sync because watching on E4 and don't know which season we're up to. I love Amy FF. Love Sheldon too although it it me or is he a bit camp.

I still love Ross no matter what mumsnet says!! (stubborn emoticon).

GrimmaTheNome · 08/04/2012 18:29

Oh, I get it now. I have never watched Doctor Who

The BBT guys do, so you're going to miss cultural references if you don't catch up
