I would like to announce that solely as a result of this thread I have gone out of my way to watch my first ever episode of Big Bang Theory. I think I'll pursue this. Thank you for the tip!

I had been putting all my eggs in the 'How I Met Your Mother is the new Friends' basket. As a result BBT never made it on to my radar.

Do I need to go back to the beginning, or can I just graze E4 for whatever's on? I'd prefer the beginning, tbh. I am a scientist with ocd tendencies. Where do I find series 1?

The new series is series 5. You can get 1-4 on DVD. TBH I have just dipped in and out, but like each episode and you do pick up what's what regarding characters.

E4 and C4 at the moment.

Love both, eldest son a robotic engineer so big bang close to home!!! As usual peripheral characters as in the moms in big bang are excellent.

I have hated friends with a passion since the beginning, it's the canned laughter a d pause for the punch line I can't stand!

They can't be compared. TBBT is amazing though. It shouldn't work but it really does.

I love BBT, and I used to watch Friends if there was nothing else on. It is quite funny, but I much prefer BBT.

I will admit to being amazingly surprised that Amy was Blossom though. I kept seeing the name Mayim Bialik and I just KNEW it was from something I recognised...but I had to Google it. She is a Dr as well...which is just awesome...
