AIBU?

Share your dilemmas and get honest opinions from other Mumsnetters.

To tell all those of you who only post on AIBU that there is a whole world of very specific boards on Mumsnet for you to post on?

BIWI · 11/02/2012 23:05

MNHQ have, over the years, very kindly created any number of different boards to reflect the many and varied interests that Mumsnetters have.

Anything from pets to health to relationships to gay children to education to things for sale to comments on site stuff to general chat, etc etc.

So why, oh why, do you persist in only posting in AIBU?

To annoy you Smile

Kayano · 11/02/2012 23:06

I post all over but am often here because I like bunfights heated debate Grin

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/02/2012 23:06

I don't get it either and it makes the place seem a little odd, tbh.

aquashiv · 11/02/2012 23:08

As I am a very reasonable person looking to redress the balance?

And the truth is there is nothing as funny as some of the posters on here.

BIWI · 11/02/2012 23:08

The day that heated debate is restricted to one board is the day that hell will freeze over, Kayano Grin

OP posts:
ExitPursuedByaBear · 11/02/2012 23:08

And this worries you because? Confused

WorraLiberty · 11/02/2012 23:08

I don't get why it bothers people?

It always amuses me just how bothered some posters here are about which boards people choose to frequent?

Anyway, MN has a stupidly large amount of topics...that's why most of them are bloody empty and people come here for the traffic.

Kayano · 11/02/2012 23:08

There are lots of boards but they are so quiet.

Why is there an 'other' topic within 'products'

And a 'products' topic within 'other' I just don't get it?!

OriginalJamie · 11/02/2012 23:09

It's a shame that some of the more "help related" bits don't get as much traffic, such as Parenting, because on there they get a more measured response from people

crazynanna · 11/02/2012 23:09

I post in the Litter Tray and on the Perimenopause threads....

So I am an old bag who smells of cat piss then...Hmm Grin

OriginalJamie · 11/02/2012 23:10

It is also true that the number of Topics is overwhelming

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/02/2012 23:10

So do you all just use AIBU or don't you look in Active Convos?

issey6cats · 11/02/2012 23:10

dont know where half the boards are and thanks whoever took exception to my thread on AIBU and pressed the little red button and AIBU is one of the busiest threads

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/02/2012 23:10

There are a stupidly large number of topics, I'll go with that.

WorraLiberty · 11/02/2012 23:13

Nah I always forget to click active convos

To be honest, I normally keep two windows open...one on here and one of Facebook.

I do sometimes stray to Chat if it's busy (rarely) and sometimes Relationships but a few of the posters there piss me off so I tend not to bother much.

BIWI · 11/02/2012 23:14

Exit - I posted very deliberately in AIBU, with an AIBU question!

And the rest of tonight I have posted all over the boards ...

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 11/02/2012 23:16

Oh yeah and that's another thing

If I keep clicking active convos and posting on various threads, it's too hard to keep up with them all when I click 'threads I'm on'

So I normally lose interest in all of them Grin

issey - sorry, I don't understand your post.

If someone had reported your thread, and it was moved, then that would indicate that AIBU wasn't an appropriate place for it.

Why not have a look at the list of topics and post in the relevant one?

If everyone just posts in AIBU then it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that AIBU will be the busiest board on MN.

AgentZigzag · 11/02/2012 23:18

Any topic can be twisted into an AIBU.

And I like the posters on this part of MN, honest and will flay you alive given half a chance Smile

I like to know where I stand.

AgentZigzag · 11/02/2012 23:22

There are some boards, like relationships, that I don't feel comfortable wading in with what I think because there seems to be a prescribed way of answering and I wouldn't like to give the 'wrong' advice.

Kayano · 11/02/2012 23:22

It should be it
Site stuff surely?

ExitPursuedByaBear · 11/02/2012 23:23

I'm an Active Convo girl. Unless I have mud rash or bastard dog issues, in which case I post in the approrpriate places.

I am not sure I have ever been brave enough to start a thread in AIBU. But this is where all the fun is...

WorraLiberty · 11/02/2012 23:24

You'll probably be told to fuck off Ziggers if your advice doesn't 'fit' the norm Grin

Seriously though, MN is the only place I've witnessed people giving a flying fuck about in which topic posters choose to post in Confused

issey6cats · 11/02/2012 23:24

BIWI asked a very mild request and genuinely wanted to know if i was been unreasonable asking on mumsnet and someone who obviously dosent like the animals in my MN name had the thread not moved but taken off completely and i cant find anything in guiidelines that i did wrong
