To think that if you have a clock on the mantlepiece it needs to go in the middle?

Or am I being anal? My children say so. I don't think I am, but I need support from the MN jury. How could the clock go on one end? That would be wrong.

Right now it goes plant, photo frame, photo frame, CLOCK, photo frame, body sort of sculpture thing, flowers.

But clock in the middle. Yes?!

they haven't missed the point - this is a very serious issue for Piste - she has been losing sleep over it.

(i screamed at the TV when they mentioned it in the introduction this morning!
I am very sad - odd, because I never watch MW and only did because you lot were talking about him yesterday, and lo and behold, there you were in all your madness (or at least, your thread was)) Blush

But thank you Sparkling I take the Thanks

And now I shall just wait in the Waitrose cafe for my PM from JustineMumsnet booting me off for bringing the MN gang into disrepute....

Did you shop in Waitrose before you got famous Piste?

wherearemysocks · 09/02/2012 20:17

Watching it on sky+ now, will sit back and pour myself a glass of wine and enjoy.

(Love you Matthew)

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 09/02/2012 20:21

Did Matthew mention the placing of John Sergeant on the mantlepiece at all?

wherearemysocks · 09/02/2012 20:32

The unfunny comedienne on the left is even less funny than I thought she was originally.

For the record my mantle piece is a mess, I have a few carefully placed pictures and vases, but then dh and kids just dump other things on there too like letters from school and there is still a homemade christmas card from dd1 on there. In fact I'm off now to go and sort it out.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/02/2012 20:32

No shrubberies, no jaunty and sadly no John Sergeants Sad

Sparkling... I thought shopping at Waitrose was a requirement of our MN membership. No?

Still goes in the middle. In the bloody MIDDLE

And the cheek of the smarmy little toad man - foul-mouthed harridans? Fucking hell!! Who's he calling foul-mouthed harridans? The bastard.

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 09:24

MW mentioned it again at the start of his show. People had sent photos of their mantelpieces that he showed. Then he told them all to 'get a life'.( Yes, and stop watching The Wright Stuff while they are about it) Hmm

lemmein do you keep a tin of spam on your mantlepiece? Grin

Or have you just posted in the wrong place?

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 10:04

I thought it was going to be a 10 minute solution to sorting your mantelpiece. Sad

nickelDorritt · 10/02/2012 10:42

it says "Part 7: Keeping The Mantel Peace
Do you fret about the symmetry of the ornaments on your mantelpiece? Those foul-mouthed harridans that frequent mumsnet do. Hundreds have commented on the story of a woman who wants to know if her clock has to go in the middle of the mantelpiece or can she place it at one end. " on the channel 5 player thing.
Shock

foul-mouthed harridans
Shock
how very dare he!
