to find it extraordinary how many women shag multiple men within the space of a couple of weeks?

I've been dong some intensive reseacrh via Jeremy Kyle and find it amazing how many people shag different people one day to the next.

Is this normal behaviour?

I always assumed most people tend to only do one at a time, with at least a couple of weeks break in between and therefore know who would be the father of their progeny.

Am I hoplesly naiive and old fasioned?

only because on jeremy kyle it is almost always the women who don't know who fathered their child.

i did say my musings were based on jeremy research.

i don't give a shit whether women shag loads of men, men shag loads of women or somwhere in between. i just wondered if it was standard behaviour.

in fact i'm wondering if i am the weird one for not doing the same.

i once went to bed with one guy and woke up with a different one, that was quite a surprise

rogersmellyonthetelly · 03/02/2012 10:46

Not "at a time", AtYourCervix. On different nights, for the most part, I imagine. (Mind you, whatever floats your boat...)

I'm a prude myself, so the obvious answer is not to watch programmes that will make my hair stand on end.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/02/2012 10:47

When I was "on a break" from my DH I slept around. The amazing thing isnt the sleeping with multiple partners it's the lack of contraception

Gay40 · 03/02/2012 10:48

There's no such thing as standard behaviour, that I do know.

Anniegetyourgun · 03/02/2012 10:49

Oh, and as for "only because on jeremy kyle it is almost always the women who don't know who fathered their child"... that would be because, like, men don't get pregnant (often, yet). Otherwise they'd have the same problem.

BupcakesandCunting · 03/02/2012 10:49

I still think that I am risqué because I let DH do me with the bedside lamp on last week.

ChasTittyBeltUp · 03/02/2012 10:50

I had a friend who shagged tonnes of men...sometimes 2 a night. She is now happily married and faithful but in her 20s she was like a sex addict. She loved it. Always very respectable though and worked/works as a midwife.

I never judged her...she would say "I've been and had sex with X...it was great....now I'm going back with so and so as he's always great fun too."

And that was that. She used prtection though. It's those who don't who give the multi-shaggers a bad name!

Gay40 · 03/02/2012 10:50

Some people would consider that downright perverted ^

ChasTittyBeltUp · 03/02/2012 10:51

Bupcakes "Let DH do me" bleuch! It conjures images of a helpless Victorian woman who has no say in the matter.

AtYourCervix · 03/02/2012 10:51

well, yes, obviously, but i was justifying my thread title referring to women before getting shot by rabid feminists for obviously insinuating that women are slappers for showing an ankle in public but it's ok for men to sleep with anything female in a miniskirt.

Sooo wished you'd accidently missed out the word "on" then Buppy...

ChasTittyBeltUp · 03/02/2012 10:52

Grin at Ferret

BupcakesandCunting · 03/02/2012 10:52

Yes, that was kind of the image I was trying to convey, ChasTitty...

What Gay said, word for word.

LOOK AT ME!!!

Get of my stage.

GrownUp2012 · 03/02/2012 10:54

I don't think it's standard behaviour.

In my own experience it was a poor reaction to my home situation, domestic violence and the promiscuity of my own parents. I grew up thinking that not respecting your body was normal, so in my teenage years I did a lot of things I regret now with a more mature mindset and an understanding of my abusive family environment.

I would say that to simply be unsure of who fathered your child is the least of the problems having this lack of self-respect can bring you. Being unable to safeguard yourself can lead to situations where your life and body are at serious risk of harm, and I cannot bear to watch Jeremy Kyle for exploiting people who are vulnerable like this.

I know this is probably a serious answer to a not serious thread. Sorry.

ChasTittyBeltUp · 03/02/2012 10:54

Bupcakes Oh. I need to go to sleep. I have had a sense of humour failure all day so far. It began when DH did me on the kitchen countertop and I got worred about how mucky the fish tank is.

AtYourCervix · 03/02/2012 10:54

it's when he tells people he likes them i want to kill him most.

rogersmelly, are you me? I could've written that post - 2 kids included! If you, like me are early 30s, are we a product of our 90s teenage years?

aldiwhore · 03/02/2012 10:59

I used to think I was rather promiscuis (compared to my friends) but looking back I wasn't really - although I honestly couldn't tell you how many men I've known that way - there was always a few weeks in between (laziness really).

I wish I'd been more confident about it, but was wracked with guilt. I also got a reputation at one point, though the men were small in number (and size) they did know each other! Whoops.

My problem was I was seeking 'the one' and wanted to try before I bought, I don't think THAT was healthy, had I had the attitude that it was responsible, consentual fun and nothing more, I'd have saved myself a lot of self loathing.

Anyhoo... I do raise an eyebrow at Jeremy Vile's guests... there doesn't seem to be a lot of fun involved and more 3shovesandagrunt with randoms without pleasure, no personal responsibility and no respect (or teeth). That worries me more. High quality damn great sex with lots of different people is perfectly cool.

I've no desire to get on that path again, but if I had my time again I'd certainly enjoy it more than I did.
