Oh I am so excited that some people want to know about my fil and the goat - I was going to update but didn't think anyone would be interested!

I am happy to say that I was being a bit of a twat . He arrived with a smile and a jar of horseradish sauce and I realised that he whatever he had or hadn't got the dc, he wasn't meaning to be nasty. We had a lovely day and about 2 hours into his visit, he... produced gifts for the dc! I can honestly say that by that point I really wouldn't have minded either way and hadn't given them a thought, having realised that fil isn't such a bad old goat really .

Ironically, given my fears about his possible views about our materialism, his main gift to ds1 was an electronic money box that counts up the money and ds1 spent boxing day feeding coins into it while wearing a false beard and 'being' Scrooge - he appointed ds2 as Bob Cratchitt (sp?) and spent a happy hour screaming at him to 'get to work!' - maybe he did just need the goat .

So, a happy, if dull, outcome to this one, though I must add how much the whole thing has made me appreciate MN. I honestly think my initial 'anger' was part of a pre-Christmas 'stressy-fit' and, had I not vented on here, I may well have started a huge row with dh about this, so thanks so much MN .

Sorry, forgot to add that I will be following the excellent suggestions I received about making a scrapbook and doing research about the relevant area etc!

She did another thread under a different name about a similar thing iirc she had a very distinctive writing style that caused loads of us to suspect her, then I think mnhq deleted her. someone will remember it properly :)

I am the 'evil MIL kicking son's DP out after appendix operation' poster. :o (Even though it was all really horrid :( )

We still aren't speaking to MIL. FIL visited on New Year's Day, and had a lovely day with the kids while MIL went to BIL's for the day.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with the entire thing, sorry to not offer a proper conclusion to the story! As it stands, there's been no contact, but we'll have to see what happens.

I'd like to know (and hope) that fabsi had a lovely Christmas day (as did her DS with his dad) and is proud of herself for having overcome her reservations and allowed DS to spend some of the day with his dad.

I asked about that on another thread, Sarah. I'd love to know too. That really was epic - I think of all threads I've ever read its the one I became the most emotionally invested in.
