I have a lovely friend called Pam, so to me all Pams are lovely. I was really taken aback recently when I met a Pam who was really horrible. What names have you got stereotypical views of?

Pams are a mixed bag I find. :) As are Pats.

Sheilas and Brendas are usually fairly large and quite often dinner ladies.

I usually get on with Susans but don't hold with Suzannes.

KatieScarlettsCrackers · 20/12/2011 17:07

Julie's are Man-teefs, all of them.

Men called John are all barstewards and to be avoided.

Claire is not as sweet as she sounds.

Alison is prematurely old in nature though not in looks.

Men named David are usually normal

Debbie has never done Dallas, she restores furniture and is kind to animals

IneedAChristmasNickname · 20/12/2011 17:08

I don't think I know any 2 people with the same name, who are even remotely alike, and therfore couldn't make any assumptions :)
EG I know 2 Karens, one is quiet, shy and giggly. The other is outspoken, honest, and loud!

Sheep, I find, are rather erractic with their apostrophes.

jandymaccomesback · 20/12/2011 17:13

I have overcome my prejudice against Susans, but I still can't get along with Sue.
Katie your post made me lol.

It's interesting reading others opinions! And pretty much ignore my 1st post!
My step-Dad is John, he is lovely!
Agree Claire actually, the few I know are mostly bitches in disguise!
Debbie's, well the one I know is very religious, a bit OTT imo, tells people drink is evil, all she ever posts on FB is Jesus is great etc etc (and I say as a Christian that she is OTT) The other was the 'OW' (well DP says he didn't leave me for her but who knows)
The Jo I know is (mostly) lovely
Bethany is lovely, and intelligent
Alison is a loyal and honest friend!

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 20/12/2011 17:16

Christines are bitches, bullies, and should burn in hell. I do know one "sort of ok Christine" but I only get past her name by thinking of her as "L's Mam" or "H's nanna" - I cannot think of her by name or I wouldn't be able to talk normally to her Confused school years hang up here

I find martins to be a bit slow on the up takes and Linda's generally overeact to everything!!

LePruneDeMaTante · 20/12/2011 17:19

I like Helens, but not Helens who pronounce it Hell-inn (or Helly Welly Hmm) and are thick rahrah bitches.

Marks are always dependable. Andrews are solid.

Doreens are moody. Lizzes are nice but want to break out of their boring lives. Shona/Sheona/Seonaid will always, always be two faced and morally dubious.

fotheringhay · 20/12/2011 17:20

Lucys are always happy (wish I was a Lucy)

jandymaccomesback · 20/12/2011 17:21

Margaret is another name I have trouble with. Domineering inmy experience.

KatieScarlettsCrackers · 20/12/2011 17:22

Yvonne has a really loud scary voice but is soft as butter underneath

Derek hates his name

Fiona is clever and fun but half a shandy and she's anyones

Norman hates his parents

Steve secretly thinks he looks good in his "ironic" Xmas jersey

LePruneDeMaTante · 20/12/2011 17:24

Jos are boring unless they are underlyingly Josephines.
Marias are shallow.
Dawns are not bright or hopeful, despite the name.

EdithWeston · 20/12/2011 17:25

Pam has a strident way of talking
Kate may seem friendly, but is a ruthless Queen Bee

Richard is invariably unfaithful
Wayne still has spots

LePruneDeMaTante · 20/12/2011 17:25

Gordons are insufferable.
Johns are anything they want to be, behind their eyes.

jandymaccomesback · 20/12/2011 17:26

David is solid. Dave is not.
Alan is boring.
Tim is ambiguous about his sexuality.

The only Pam I've ever known was always referred to as "Pam from Accounts" - large company and I never met her personally but in my mind all Pams are accountants, and look like David Walliams' "computer says no" character. I realise this is completely unreasonable and apologise to all Pams out there Grin.

Carolines are always gorgeous and lovely, as in "Sweet Caroline" by Andy Williams.

And I disagree with those who are nasty about the Alisons I'm afraid as my Dsis is an Alison and she is lovely Smile

KatieScarlettsCrackers · 20/12/2011 17:26

Richard is unfaithful!! But excellent in the sack

suburbandream · 20/12/2011 17:27

David is a civil servant or librarian. Dave is a plumber/electrician/painter and decorator.

suburbandream · 20/12/2011 17:27

Also I never trust a grown-up Becky

2BoysTooLoud · 20/12/2011 17:28

Have we all shared a Richard?!!

KatieScarlettsCrackers · 20/12/2011 17:28

If it's the Richard I know then there is every chance...
