I have a lovely friend called Pam, so to me all Pams are lovely. I was really taken aback recently when I met a Pam who was really horrible. What names have you got stereotypical views of?

OP posts:

Angelas are manipulative bitches, whereas
Angelinas are lively, friendly and funny, and
Angels seem mean and moody, but have a gentle heart.

Can't defend that Richard, he's definitely unfaithful and he's my ex DH.

Just don't say yes to the webcam.... Wink

MosEisley · 20/12/2011 19:11

Forgot to add, my Granny was Pam, and she was undoubtedly the loveliest woman I ever met, so I agree with the OP.

LynetteScavo · 20/12/2011 19:14

8Barry* has a bit of a belly on them.

Gary is his younger, fitter brother, but he can be annoying, especially when he drinks too much at parties.

Larry is getting on a bit. likes to talk about cars.

Harry is either oldish, balding with a fondness for fairisle jumpers and or young and sporty. Hard to tell without meeting him.

chickydoo · 20/12/2011 19:21

Georgina's, Georgie's and Georgia's are cow's bitches and two faced!
Amanda's have yellow teeth and lie
Sally's let you down
Lucy's are snooty.
Gilly's are silly.
Camilla's are total idiots and mean.
Sarah's are sweet
Jan's are honest
Rachel is friendly
Clare & claire are loyal, and kind

Sugarkane · 20/12/2011 19:21

EdithWeston · 20/12/2011 19:33

"And oi, you lot! Richard is my (not so) little brother!"

The one I knew wasn't so little either...

fraggle500 · 20/12/2011 19:34

Andy = Cheat
John = Sweetie
Dave = Plumber/Taxi driver
James = Loyal
Allison = Practical
Pam = Lovely
Abbie (Adult) = Immature
Abbie (Child) = Cute, but watch out!!!

NinkyNonker · 20/12/2011 19:45

I haven't come out of this hugely well so far! Grin

I regret deeply not saying yes now when a very dishy Richard asked me out in secondary school now. He was sporty, straight A, good looking, fit etc...I always fancied him. But then he asked me out when I had a boyfriend, gutted.

jandymaccomesback · 20/12/2011 19:47

He'd only have left you for someone else.

Lucy sounds pretty
Margaret, Mildred, Majorie does not
Nicola's aren't usually very nice
Isabella's are big-headed

Yep, we definitely make assumptions!

MrsPennySworth · 20/12/2011 19:53

So, so far I'm a prim, lively, manipulative bitch who also likes to have the last word! Xmas Shock Xmas Sad

I'm going to name change soon. This thread just reminded me that I don't like the name Penny just because I used to work with one and she was a mean bully! (so obviously all Pennys are mean bullys Xmas Grin)

Maybe I'll name change to primlivelymanipulativebitch

SantaDesperatelySeeksSedatives · 20/12/2011 19:59

Every Richard I know is indeed a philandering git Xmas Grin
Matts are friendly as are Joes
Jamies and Lees are both unreliable
Chris is either a really good laugh or thinks he can get in your pants easily.
Karens are not to be messed with
Keeleys/Kayleys are bitches as are Lisas, Hollys and Jades
Kellys always pull on a night out
Julies are friendly and brilliant fun when pissed
Carols are bossy

littlemisssarcastic · 20/12/2011 20:03

Dave's are nasty power crazy bullies, appear to be really nice and down to earth, but always always have a hidden agenda.
Nicola's are insecure and have low self esteem.
Claire's can come across as bitchy and gossipy, but inside, they have a good heart.
Shaun's are arrogant.
Kerry's fall into 2 camps...the ones with virtually no friends who stealth boast alot, and the lovely ones (of which there are only a few.)
Louise's are SAHM's.
John's are dependable and family orientated.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 20/12/2011 20:04

Margarets are mono-bosomed, forthright and capable. Probably do a lot of good work in local politics and are invaluable if you need any fundraising done.

Kimberleys are boy-crazy.

Christines are insecure and manipulative. Would screw over their grandmother given half a chance.

Jennifers are sensible and reliable. Always cheerful. Probably on something.

Jennys have never quite grown up.

The less said about Jenni, the better.

Helens are lovely, kind, good friends.

Shirleys are great craic. Last one standing, offering round the courvoisier and marlboro lights at 4 in the morning. Has a raucous laugh.

Lizs and Sues are physiotherapists or work in accounts.

I do not know any adult Sarah's, but teenage Sarah's were always a bit of a cow.

Amanda's are made from pure evil, as are Danielle's.

Wendy's, as I have said elsewhere, make me think of damp afternoons and the smell of wet wool, but they are usually friendly and nice.

Female Sam's can be quite sly. Male Sam's are tall and stocky and play rugby.

Clare's are usually nicer than Claire's.

Tracy's like a laugh and a drink and can be counted on to talk a lot at parties.

Carla's will only be friendly when they want something from you.

Kelly's are always friendly.

Heather's are as mad as box of frogs, but usually in a good way.

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/12/2011 20:08

fatgoose both my parents names are in your post! They are quite unusual names too v odd. I don't agree with them though- sorry!

NoOnesGoingToEatYourMincePies · 20/12/2011 20:10

Oh, and you can't trust as Rosie as far as you can kick her.

WhingingNinja · 20/12/2011 20:10

It is very odd but i am reading eveyones "lists" and nodding along to many.

I think that the biggest thing we need to remember is that a stereotype is born from a noticable trend. so I giess it makes sense

TheCrackFox · 20/12/2011 20:14

Never met a Trisha that I like.

Lindas always seem to be up their own arses.

Fionas tend to be lovely.
