I mean- why??? Do you see one and think 'oh okay, I really really must not crash into that car'

I hate the majority of car stickers. I hate the baby on board ones too, what am I meant to think (mostly: 'crap driver, utterly sleep deprived' or 'likely to swerve and crash due to trying to drive and feed a baby'). Unless the fact that I am definitely a worse driver when I'm pregnant (but not as bad as last time), in which case a 'pregnant and driving badly' might be more appropriate.

Personally, as a hater of "princess on board" stickers etc, mum-to-be ones are even worse. What is the point of them? Oh, I am going to choose to crash into someone today but wait .... there is a baby in that car so I wont. Tossy but my opinion only. Not harm if people want to stick them in the car.

In the grand scheme of things, if it makes them happy then fair do!

It so you can park in the expantant mothers parking places at my local supermarket and complain because your sticker obviously trumps that selfish driver with the blue badge who stole your space.

I had read somewhere that Baby on Board signs were created to help emergency services should the car be involved in an accident - they would know if there was either a baby in the car or to look for one being thrown from the car.

Knowing this makes me hate the signs even more, as I think that they are just left stuck in always (NOT saved only for when there is a baby on board) and now emergency services can't use them for their inteded use, as they are not a true indicator of whether they should look for a baby.

Cannot find a link, but it's out there somewhere.

What annoys me is the variation you can buy. Just get a normal one, or dont get one.

I think the point of baby on board is that if you crash and are unconscious it will let the emergency services know there is a baby in the back. However as with everything these days it's been pinked and glittered to fuck.

Wouldn't be the carseat containing the baby be a better or bigger indicator than a comparatively smaller sign or sticker? And how likely is it that a properly fastened baby in a properly fitted car seat was flung out?

In terms of emergency services, the mother-to-be stickers make more sense, than the baby on board.

Not as bad as 'powered by fairydust'. I always get an urge to go along with a marker pen, scratch out fairydust and write 'diesel/petrol, like every other fucker'.

Or back in the day, when you had boyfriend, girlfriend stickers 'Kevin' and 'Tracey' in the front window. Just in case they forgot where they were supposed to be sitting.

Much more useful to other drivers would be "Warning - lousy driver" but I imagine the printing presses could not keep up with the demand!

I had read about the powered by fairy dust ones. Imagine my joy to move to England and find one in my road.
DD was very puzzled by the whole idea. She can be very literal sometimes.

There was someone on here recently who said she had bought a mummy to be sticker for her second pregnancy after a crash in her first that brought labour on early and she tragically lost her baby.

Some people will have genuine reasons or fears for using them.

I have a home-made A4 sheet that I stick in the back of my car when I have a wedding cake in transit. It says "Wedding cakes in transit". Hopefully it signals to the driver behind that I am driving cautiously roudn bends to prevent the cake toppling over, not because I am a crap driver.
I find Baby on board stickers really irritating. I work in the emergency services, believe me there is enough "child related" tat in peoples' cars that we don't need a poxy sticker to identify you have a child in the car.
