Mum-to-be car stickers?
I mean- why??? Do you see one and think 'oh okay, I really really must not crash into that car'

OP posts:

to go one step further from a TTC sticker you could have one saying "penis and vagina on board (one day we may procreate)"

not quite the same but I nearly sicked a bit in my mouth yesterday when I parked in sainsburys and saw the sign in the car next to me "mummy and daddy's little twincesses X and Y on board"
vom

kat2504 · 12/09/2011 11:04

Twincesses?!! Noooo that is vile. Why on earth do people buy that shit?

CurrySpice · 12/09/2011 11:06

No, DartsRUs a National Trust sticker identifies you as something other than that! Wink

QueenStromba · 12/09/2011 11:06

Pendeen: Since you don't have to display P plates I take them to mean that the driver is nervous so give them a wide berth (I did this even when I had only just passed my test). Other drivers take the piss completely when you've got L plates on so why anyone would want to advertise the fact that they are newly qualified and nervous is beyond me.

fatlazymummy · 12/09/2011 12:10

Oh FFS if people are so worried about being in an accident then don't drive or travel by car. Walk or use public transport.
And whoever said they don't like the term 'baby brain' I couldn't agree more.

Moominsarescary · 12/09/2011 13:14

I did read somewhere that baby on board stickers are supposed to encourage people not to drive up your arse don't know if it works though

I suppose if your pg not realy showing and are unconscious due to an accident pg mother on board stickers might alert emergency services to the fact

I went to a conference once in the US where there was a group of far right religious fundamentalists giving out car stickers saying "celibacy is a lifestyle". Which indeed it is, if not a very exciting one. Not quite sure why you needed to share this fact with the rest of the world though.

aldiwhore · 12/09/2011 13:25

Stickers don't bother me, and one some level I can understand an expecting mum to not want to use a 'baby on board' sticker, to tell the world they're pregnant and to wish to shout PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH ME.... though I wouldn't do it myself.

I HAVE noticed through experience that when my child on board stickers have fallen off I get treated differently... though it wasn't a strict scientific research project and just observation, the usual tits on the road didn't seem as commonplace.

I never liked any stickers (especially the 'gorgeous woman driving' type stickers, they're mis-representation, you can't resist to see if they are, and usually, they're not) and I don't believe the emergency service myth, emergency services aren't so stupid they need a sticker to help them decide the best way to deal with an RTA.

I don't mind stickers though, certainly not something that would invoke even a flicker of anger!

TandB · 12/09/2011 13:27

I did hear something the other day (can't remember where) that suggested that any sticker on a car is likely to make the person behind more careful as it focusses their attention on you and your vehicle by making them concentrate to read the sticker.

Personally I think they are daft as anything. And for some reason ANY sticker/decoration/anything out of the ordinary in a car automatically makes me assume the person is a rubbish driver. Not sure why - it's just an automatic assumption!

Shoshe · 12/09/2011 13:34

I used to have one that said Childminder on board Emergency details on reverse.

I actually wanted one that said,if you can read this, ffs back off your about to kill/injure 7 children as I always got the twunt who was so close behind my transit, that I couldn't see their hood.

NeverKnowinglyUnderDoug · 12/09/2011 13:34

I'd like one saying

"My Driving is as Random as my Thought Processes - back off for your own safety. Cup of tea?"

Cereal · 12/09/2011 13:36

YANBU

LoveInAColdClimate · 12/09/2011 13:37

I saw a sticker the other day which said "I'm driving this fast because I really need to poop", accompanied by a picture of someone sitting on the loo. WTF?

ThatllDoPig · 12/09/2011 13:41

I hate them.
Remember that bit in Ben Elton's 'inconcievable' about them, where the main characters wish they had a sticker that said something like . . .
"We haven't yet been lucky enough to have our baby, but we would still prefer it if you didn't crash into our car!"

OhdearNigel · 12/09/2011 13:45

Maybe we could market a MN one.

"Fuck off, tailgating wanker"

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/09/2011 13:48

No, a MN one would say.... "Leave the bastard".

fivegomadindorset · 12/09/2011 13:50

My favourite one recently is 'Keep Portland Weird'

LDNmummy · 12/09/2011 13:51

As a 'mum to be', I can honestly say YA soooo NBU.

OTheHugeRaveningWolef · 12/09/2011 13:52

Surely a MN car sticker would say 'PFB on board'?

TheBride · 12/09/2011 13:53

I would love to get one of those scrolling digital message displays for my back windscreen so you could send messages to the person behind you.

True

Oakmaiden · 12/09/2011 14:01

I saw one once which said "Keep back - Mother-in-law in boot". I thought that was funny. Wouldn't put it on my car though (not least it would offend the old bag my mother-in-law.)
