Mum-to-be car stickers?
I mean- why??? Do you see one and think 'oh okay, I really really must not crash into that car'

The Baby on Board ones always make me feel like shouting 'Baby Driving' - more like - when they do something stupid. [evil emoticon].

I am in agreement with those who say that people who are pregnant or with babies or children or dogs in the back have no more right to consideration for their safety than any other driver. Everyone is important to someone.

Otherwise maybe they should design one that says 'No Babies or Children or Dogs on Board and I'm not Pregnant So Its Ok - Just Go Ahead And Stove Into The Back Of Me Grin

AttillaTheMum · 13/09/2011 21:05

how about this?

downbutnotout · 13/09/2011 21:37

DD does karate and her "dojo" is based on a mini industrial estate. The owner is having a dispute with his neighbours about how many parking spaces he needs so asked all the parents to put stickers for the school in their car windows to demonstrate how many cars parked there are his customers.

You'd be surprised how much respect you are accorded on the roads when you have an "XXX School of Martial Arts" sticker in the back window.

madam52 · 13/09/2011 21:39

Attilla Grin want one ! A sticker that is not a child !

Funniest one I saw and I dont really do stickers tbh was :

Caution on overtaking - drivers good looks may distract.

UngratefulWretch · 13/09/2011 21:45

I once saw a car sticker that read: 'Perfect Family On Board'

I can only hope it was a joke.

QueenStromba · 13/09/2011 22:29

Bleugh - I think I'd have to try very hard to stop myself purposefully ramming a car with that sticker on it UngratefulWretch.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 13/09/2011 23:07

I was thinking of getting a sticker/poster like this to stick on my driver side window when I'm parked I'm now 8 months pg and huge and some inconsiderate arse parked right next to my driver door so the only way I could fit into my own car was to climb over the passenger seat! Not easy with a huge bump and SPD!

I do try and leave a bigger stop distance etc on he motorway if I see a baby on board sign.

Pendeen · 14/09/2011 10:14

Edwardor....

I do try and leave a bigger stop distance etc on he motorway if I see a baby on board sign.

That's a very odd attitude, surely you always leave sufficient distance to stop in all circumstances? Don't you? :)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 14/09/2011 14:04

I don't tailgate I that's what u mean? But certainly do try to be more careful/aware if there is a sign, in the same way that if I was driving in a residential area I would drive a lot slower if there were kids playing on the pavement than if there weren't as drivers we are constantly assessing risk and situations to ensure our driving is safe.
Just because the speed limit is X doesn't mean it will always be safe to drive at X speed.

Pootles2010 · 14/09/2011 14:16

That makes no sense Edward. You drive slower when their are children playing because they may well run out in front of you.

Why on earth would a baby being in the car change the situation? They're not a potential hazard, so why change your driving?

Havingkittens · 14/09/2011 14:27

EdwardorEric - I can understand you driving more slowly where you think kids may be playing as there is more likelihood of them running in front of your car. But to change your driving habits because there is a baby in the car in front of you doesn't really work in the same way. Although I suppose it could work in reverse, as a courtesy to those driving behind someone with such a sign, to serve as a warning that the driver may be prone to driving in a distracted and erratic way due to trying to quieten a wailing baby!

Ripstheirthroatout - "DH got five and put them in each window of the car barring the windscreen" - I don't mean to be rude, but that's not PFB, that's idiotic! Exactly my point about the signs all across the back window. Cover your car in blind spots and expect everyone else around you to take the necessary steps to ensure you don't cause an accident (you did put a sign up after all)!

kat2504 · 14/09/2011 14:29

I try to leave the correct stopping distance between myself and all other cars. I don't think a single person or an elderly person or whoever deserves to be crashed into anymore than a child does. I would prefer to avoid crashing into anyone at all, if possible.

MyMaisyMouse · 14/09/2011 14:43

The emergency services thing is an urban myth.

These signs are a (very successful) marketing trick, nothing more.

I don't even notice them anymore and I never bother to read them.

Insomnia11 · 14/09/2011 15:30

I had a "I'm not fat I'm pregnant" mug with DD1.

Now I am a bit fat and not pregnant.

Karma.

NanaNina · 14/09/2011 16:05

Haven't read all the thread but SO glad so many of you hate these stupid stickers as much as I do. Have toyed with the idea of making one for myself "Post menopausal Woman on Board" - "A dog is not just for Christmas, you need to save some for sandwiches on Boxing Day" - an old joke but still funny.

Oh yes and the one "I slow down for horses" - well so do but I don't need a bloody sticker to tell anyone else - or the "Show dogs in transit".............aaaaaaaaaaaaargh. Maybe a little MN competition to come up with a few more home made ones?

Kaekae · 14/09/2011 18:17

I like having a child on board sign, I'm sure it deters people from driving up my arse.

YankNCock · 15/09/2011 00:05

There is a woman I really really like, but her car is 'powered by fairydust'. I'm finding it hard to reconcile.

Yesterday I saw a car that had silhouettes of winged fairies in a few different places

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 15/09/2011 08:33

havingkittens, they were tiny and we had a Nissan Patrol. DH was just so chuffed to be a dad (finally) that he went a bit OTT with safety.
Yank the one along the road to me is both powered by fairy dust and has those sillhouettes [vomtastic].
It also has a lot of pink shiney stuff inside and the woman herself is rather fairy like ITMS.

Havingkittens · 15/09/2011 08:57

Fair enough ripstheirthroatout - but trust me, I have seen plenty that obscure enough of the windows to make me a bit Hmm.
