Mum-to-be car stickers?
I mean- why??? Do you see one and think 'oh okay, I really really must not crash into that car'

OP posts:
ledkr · 12/09/2011 09:52

pmt on board.

OhdearNigel · 12/09/2011 09:56

Roundtable, does that poster use the sticker as a warning to the emergency services or think that other drivers will be more careful because of it ?

I would have thought a bracelet (like those rubbery ones that were trendy a couple of years ago) would be more useful. Maybe I could take that idea on Dragon's Den.

Claw3 · 12/09/2011 09:58

Oh i like the "wedding cakes in transit", im going to make one with "Asda shopping in transit" to warn drivers, im driving carefully to avoid my shopping in the boot coming out of the bags!

DartsRus · 12/09/2011 10:04

I think any sticker in a car is a bit off, except the national trust ones, as they identify you as a member for parking purposes.

roundtable · 12/09/2011 10:05

I'm not sure ohdearnigel I just remember reading it recently and I felt very sad for her. Maybe that poster will come on and explain if she doesn't feel too mocked. I would think for other drivers and emergency services?

Each to their own I think. I personally don't want to use them but things like that make me understand why some might.

Never heard of this powered by fairy dust thing...yuk!

ChristinedePizan · 12/09/2011 10:07

That's a very sad story roundtable but I can't see how a sticker has magic accident-repelling properties

piratecat · 12/09/2011 10:08

yanbu,

that's silly

roundtable · 12/09/2011 10:11

I'm sure it doesn't christine but it probably made her feel better.

squeakytoy · 12/09/2011 10:12

Considering the number of pregnant women who nowadays blame "baby brain" (which incidentally is a phrase that makes me want to slap them anyway) for anything daft that they do, I suppose the sticker is another way to excuse shit driving. Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/09/2011 10:16

The stickers aren't used by the emergency services as any kind of indication. It's a 'sop' for parents who want to let the world know that they have a baby... and of course, a great opportunity for marketing useless tat. Grin

organiccarrotcake · 12/09/2011 10:23

I saw a "powered by fairy crap" one on a VW camper the other day. That I did quite like Grin.

foolserrand · 12/09/2011 10:25

I had one for my first car that read "does my bum look big in this?". Hysterical at 17 and fitted my first car's personality. I lost my mind early

It's been "lost" now.

EricNorthmansMistress · 12/09/2011 10:27

'mummy to be on board' that's awful.

OhdearNigel · 12/09/2011 10:27

carrotcake, it was on a campervan. Anything is cool on a campervan. Probably even a baby on board sticker...

diddl · 12/09/2011 10:33

But how does baby on board or even a carseat help-unless you always take them both out when your baby isn´t with you?

etyksm · 12/09/2011 10:35

I am still looking for one that says
"Paranoid Parent on board"

To be fair that it how I felt for the first few times I drove my pfb around - and a far more accurate description (IMHO)

Pendeen · 12/09/2011 10:37

Cars being driven with 'L' plates but no learner behind the wheel are another annoyance.

Not so sure about theose'P' plates though. I find myself giving a car displaying one of those a bit more lattitude but then afterwards think "why should I, they have passed their test so should be more up to date with driving standards and careful than me".

Confused.

I hate the 'Kids taxi driver' ones or 'Princess on Board' or 'twins on board' or any crap like that.

eurochick · 12/09/2011 10:51

How about

"TTC. Not right now though you filthy-minded individual!"

kat2504 · 12/09/2011 10:57

TTC sticker to warn other people that they have parked in the parent and child or disabled spaces in order to have a well timed shag on the back seat, so please do not disturb.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/09/2011 10:57

My sister has the best sticker on the back of her car. "I love Justin Bieber" She has no idea where it came from either...

PanicMode · 12/09/2011 10:57

Maybe we all need to get 'MN Judgeypants on board stickers' Wink

I hate them too - I've managed 4 pregnancies and regularly have 4 children in my car and so far have managed to avoid having accidents.

PanicMode · 12/09/2011 10:58

That sentence should have finished with 'without having stickers on the back of the car'.

ExpensivePants · 12/09/2011 11:00

Doesn't bother me one way or the other. But then, tbh I'm more concerned with watching the road than giving a toss what other people have on their cars. As long as they're driving safely they can be shagging on the back window ledge for all I care.
