Men are missing a trick by dressing SO BADLY

Overheard two American women on the bus discussing British male fashion.
Their inclination was that jogging bottoms should be burned and I agree.

Got me thinking that loads f women positively fantasise about certain kinds of male outfits: uniforms, britches, good boots, etc.
I'm not suggesting that men go out and get an officer's uniform and it's obviously not ok to suggest that men should dress "for" women, but what most men wear and what women like to see men wearing are totally different, would you agree?

AIBU to think men's fashion needs a bit of an overhaul anyway?

Damn Pan, no suit of armour :(

Men should wear perfectly fitting suits, or tightish jeans and polo tops, or this would be absolutely perfect on Planet Sarah.

Pan · 09/09/2011 22:34

Okay SS. How about a really sexy bonnet? Dorothea Brooke, my all time favourite heroine, from George Eliot's Middlemarch would scarce be seen out in Tipton without one. Phwwwooooarrrrr......

Pan · 09/09/2011 22:34

and you think I am kidding....

NorkyPies · 09/09/2011 22:47

And what about their hair? They are much better these days, but an Englishman's comb used to be his hassle.

SarahStratton · 09/09/2011 22:51

I've got a matching pirate hat, would that do? I could get Mortimer to perch on my shoulder. Hmm

tethersend · 09/09/2011 23:03

For me Pan

Pan · 10/09/2011 00:05

Ha tethers - that blokes looks like he is gouging on heroin..

SS - I was thinking more like this if it isn't too much trouble?

madmomma · 10/09/2011 00:09

I shudder to think what they'd say if they saw my dp. He insists on wearing warner brothers T shirts. Very distressing.

YABU. I can't be doing with pretty men. :) Give me jeans and T-shirt any day. And stubble. And baseball hats.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

< feels faint >

tethersend · 10/09/2011 10:50

Pan; if he's on heroin then hell, I don't wanna be clean!

tethersend · 10/09/2011 10:52

(Julie christie was for you BTW- just couldn't find a bonnet pic Wink)

NevermindtheNargles · 10/09/2011 11:08

Braces.

There is nothing that beats a suit jacket coming off to reveal a crisp white shirt and a pair of braces.

And then the shirt comes off to reveal a vest underneath.

And then the braces then go back on with said vest, and a pair of pinstripe trousers.

And I'm done.

that was very nice of you tethers!Smile

Am giving consideration to making that Margaret Lockwood photo as my laptop wallpaper - she in that film had a certain affect on me as a teenager....

tethersend · 10/09/2011 13:42

Well, I am very nice. If a little disturbed by your Lockwood admiration Grin

SarahStratton · 10/09/2011 14:16

Vest? Vest? Hmm

Pan · 10/09/2011 14:36

SS - vests - You're just not getting it are you?

TalcAndTurnips · 10/09/2011 14:51

NevermindtheNargles I see you are still stricken with the curse of the double-post. Have you given up inserting 'Arsebiscuits' in every post, as we previously discussed? Wink

For me - DH wearing his uniform of an officer in the Senior Service is just about as good as it gets. < cough> er, hubba hubba.

flatbellyfella · 10/09/2011 19:24

No one has admired a good old fashioned Birthday Suit.:-)
Any takers ??

2rebecca · 10/09/2011 23:54

I love unbuttoning shirts, and running my hand up my bloke's thigh when he (sadly infrequently) wears a kilt.
I like men in lycra cycling rear as well though, and thick knee lengthdressing gowns or thick towelling robes.
